Some of us wrote on another thread about the MEL Glory Days. When ya know that whenever, Vacaville, Vallejo, Vintage, Napa and even Fairfield & Hogan had there days. Whenever, these teams came to town you know it's gonna be a battle & a cant miss game. Now due to various reasons.....now Napa, Vacaville carry the Torch for the MEL with Wood coming on strong.

Also, the days when Benicia, Dixon, St. Patricks's, Vanden were battling it out and St. Helena & Justin Siena too were in the mix as well. How did John Swett-Crockett ever got in I am still wondering after all these years.

No longer is Vacaville a one high school town. Wood is rising from the ashes. Also of note, Vacaville Christian was challenging for Section Championships in their respectful division.

Justin Siena now competes in the NCS-MCAL with success. St. Helena is reemerging and now plays in the NCS.

Vintage is down with American Canyon now opening up with off & on success. Napa is still the team in Napa.

Fairfield ran wild in the late 80's early 90's with the Wing T, but lately hard to fill rosters there. Armijo is still Armijo. Vanden is still competing well in recent years too.

Benicia been good too as well.

Dixon having off & on years.

A tragedy for the schools in Vallejo. Hogan had some bright spots. really surprised at Vallejo.... a proud tradition and helluva football alumni....so sad...cant get the numbers & keep up? Bethel...what is going on? St. Patrick's was going good with Marion Blanton...ever since they let him go....

miss these days...hopefully they will do well soon!

Wood will more likely than not get their pound of flesh from the Bulldogs this year question is??? Can continue the re isn't success? Building a new stadium will help but the JV teams record lends one to believe they will be a 1 year wonder dog errrr. Cat as the case may be. Look at the roster it's dominated by seniors many playing both ways. Time will tell but for now Wood looks like the top of the MEL.

I think Polmic is right, after this year it will be Napa and Vaca carrying the torch for the MEL, again. This Wood class has been dominant since they were Freshmen, they have not disappointed as seniors. Vintage has talent on all 3 levels but for many reasons they fall apart by the time they get to varsity, sad actually.
I did hear that Fairfield has a new Principal and AD, they are both asking why their best athletes are playing for neighboring high schools. This may be a ray of hope in getting Fairfield back on the map.

Fairfield has a long road to travel to regain their once greatness. Rodriguez has thinned the blood in Fairfield so to speak. Armijo has never really been consistently good and several off airfields talented athletes seek out successful programs such as Vacaville or Vanden to play for. Unless Fairfield can get the kids to take pride in "home" and buy in to their program they will never be the power they once were. Take a look at the youth programs, Vacaville has two top tier programs Fairfield has none to speak of. Parents want to win and will take their kids where they will win that's the bottom line. Sad but true.

The Solano Warriors and the Fairfield Jr. Falcons have been doing well the past few years. Fairfield needs to establish a good relationship with the youth league there even Armijo too.
I believe Rodriquez has a Youth football team. However, the every year revolving door for the head coach keeps swinging both ways.
I dont know if Vanden has a youth team too. But Vanden probably has more than the other schools in Fairfield.
Vanden gets their players from both Fairfield and Vacaville.

Another note I wonder how things wud be if all the schools did not have open enrollment. I am not sure if some dont.

Rodriguez has the Solano Mustangs youth football feeder
