Miramonte vs. O’Dowd

54-47 4th quarter

BOD has made no adjustments, has better athletes (they’re very good) but MM out coaching!

Technical foul on #21 on a jump ball. BOD 9-0 run to take a 2 to lead. Momentum change

Very exciting game, at one point it looked like MM was close to putting BOD away but BOD PG took control of the game in 4th quarter and MM had no answer for her.

BOD did kill it on the glass. Very exciting game till the end. BOD was MUCH more athletic and physical but in my honest opinion, Sopek was the much better coach tonight. My only question is why didn't he press tonight??? He presses 3/4 of the games vs other teams. Winward pressed the heck out of them and crated TONS of turnovers.

FYI, BOD hasn't progressed through the season and for those of you who just look at the box scores and say they do, hasn't watched before and now. They've got some serious young players that are good. In two years, they'll be more mature with any additional kids they "add" to their roster.

MM had the PG that was nails good. She's a big time player making big time shots. Unfortunately MM's bigs didn't keep BOD"s off the glass...which is no easy task

That was what high school basketball is about ...

O'Dowd was the better team and deserved to win, so no shame in playing hard and losing.

Great atmosphere, fun game to coach and watch and play.

Given the uncertainty, it wouldn't surprise me at all if O'Dowd dropped to D1, and the two teams meet again. Get your tickets now, because the O'Dowd gym will be sold out early.

what other team would go ahead of/instead of BOD in the OPEN?

Antelope, maybe, due to equivalent section title. Presentation, maybe, due to computer rankings.

Who knows how they're deciding? They may feel 10 losses is too many for an Open team. Or not.

They may decided head-to-head isn't as important as other factors, and put Miramonte in the Open. Nobody knows, and though I seriously doubt this last scenario, it's the first time they've done this, there's a lot of people in the room, and despite the fact that BOD showed just how good a team it is, the committee may use other factors. They may decide that Cardinal Newman should go because CN only has five losses and BOD has 10.

I actually think the Open and D1 will make sense. I'm not so convinced they'll still be able to drill down when they get to D-IV.

Clay,

Did you say Antelope to the Open? Really..public school, first section title and 2 seniors on the team?

LMAO!!!!!

You are SERIOUSLY advocating CN to go ahead of BOTH MM and BOD in the OPEN?

boy you are TRULY shameless Clay

Of course not. That would be a travesty.

But we've all seen committees do really weird things, and this is a committee with no set criteria and no history.

CN should be D-I, no question. (I had a feeling you'd feel the need to respond to that hypothetical ...)

Absolutely....I hate to get on the board to advocate for my kids, as it sets you up for attacks from people who never put one second in a gym during practice time, but that would be a travesty. We should all have a chance at playoff run in our own divisions.

Clay,

In the brave new world of competitive equity, none of that matters.

I would be very surprised if Antelope went Open, but here would be the logic:

Two teams from CCS, leaves six.

SMS and Folsom. Leaves four.

Carondelet and Salesian. Leaves two

So now we look at D-II winners from NCS and SJS, because the committee believes that a D-II winner has faced more competition than a D-IV.

Could take both Antelope and O'Dowd.

Or let's say SJND gets the call, or just to annoy northbayguru, Cardinal Newman. Still one spot left. One committee members argues passionately that a 10-loss team does not belong in the Open, no matter what. He or she prevails -- default to next D-II champ.

Antelope in the Open.

Again, I don't think this will happen, but you never know.

we're all speculating about the activities of a black box. possibly, aliens have landed and are secretly in charge of the selection/seeding process. no matter what the outcome, some will find this line of thinking worth considering.

I do have a question though...

"we should all have a chance at a playoff run in our own divisions"

are you advocating to stay in D2 in the Norcals?

cause that would be wrong..you are definitely D1 worthy

At this point...everything is icing on the cake. My young girls have made a great run for Antelope High school and I'm a proud coach, as these young ladies are great kids who do things the right way...

So I assume everyone is under the impression that the first 7 are clearly in and only the 8th seed needs to be decided? That seven being Mitty, SMS, Folsom, Salesian, Pinewood, SJND, C-Let? Or are only six of these 7 with SJND not included leaving two spots to be filled by Odowd and someone else? Or does Odowd have too many losses even though they would give Mitty a pretty good challenge if they were put in the 8th spot?

Bear Creek is a good team and I was impressed with Antelopes win. Antelope is D1 bound and worthy of a high seed and have earned the right to a home game or 2. Anything less would be a mistake by the committee.

BOD against Mitty...wow! Complete injustice. BOD players might as well start planning their spring break right about now.

O'dowd should be ahead of CN or if the committee used max preps which they obviously did in D1, Presantation and Eastside should of been in the open ahead of O'dowd and Cn. D1 has Eastside as the 2 and MM beat them by a cool 28.. West Campus gets the 5 seed in D3???

Check out the brackets in other divisions (I did for D-I) and see if they kept teams from the same section in the same quadrant as much as possible. They would have then done the seeding to fit that criterion.

How does a team like logan get into D1 without even winning an NCS game and Campolindo is a 9 seed in D3. I just don't understand the seeding process.
