MJD returns to De La Salle

Maurice Jones-Drew will be on the De La Salle coaching staff this year. Always cool to see alumni come back and coach at the high school level.

That really cool. He was so fun to watch in his high school years. It was a given if you saw him play that he was going tobe a major impact player in college. I was surprised by the low level of interest in him.You could see in Poly 2 that it took 3 or 4 of those great Poly athletes to tackle the guy. He was at another level.

He's going to be especially helpful in the weight room. Both he and Alumbaugh went through that crazy offseason preparation with Coach Blasquezas players. MJD even continued lifting with Blasquez when he was in the pros by visiting him at Cal. The rich get richer lol.

That's great news. When you have a local hero that made good in the NFL come back to his high school, its a good motivator. I hope Maurice can inspire the same kind of juice among his players as he produced himself. Sometimes, that transition from player to teacher/motivator is a rough one. One thing for sure, I will never forget that end zone celebration flip in 2001. Even though it got a big penalty, it correctly summed up that game with LBP.
