Pittsburg made a clean sweep of the three games over Thursday and Friday night, Thursday Pitt shut out El Cerrito 26-0 and then on Friday, the JV's won 34-6 and the Varsity 48-7.
The line score
JV.....Pittsburg...…….07 07 14 06.....34
St. Mary's...…...00.....00......00.....06.....06
Varsity
Pittsburg.....20.....28.....00.....00.....48
St. Mary's....00.....00.....07.....00.....07
If you read BULLDOGMGC'S post, that pretty well covered what took place, St. Marys' was its own worst enemy, a fumble right of the bat, a 4th and two call that should have been a punt, giving Pittsburg good ground position throughout the first half.
For St. Mary's First downs 8, runs 22 for 40yards,passing 22 attempts for 79, at least five could have been caught. Penalities 3 for 15, fumbles two punts two.
For Pittsburg.....11 first downs, 12 penalities for 100 yards, but didn't change any thing.14 pass attempts for 118 yards 20 runs for 196, punts two interceptions two. It looked like St. Mary's was ready for Pittsburg and as for CVC...I think CVC caught Pittsburg at the right time as the Pirates were expecting an easy victory... If a rematch should take place, the score will be a lot different...
