Moreau Catholic and St. Francis were chosen for the open filling out the 8 team bracket.
O'dowd vs 8 St Francis
4. Folsom vs. 5.el Cerrito
3. Moreau catholic vs. 6. Serra.
2. Monte Vista vs. Modesto Christian.

Besides O'Dowd. I could see all these games being really close.
I guess they threw St. Francis to make 8 teams. That is 4 d 2 teams which really waters down d2.
Everyone besides St. Francis. seems to belong their this year.

Remember St Francis won the WCAL title this year and aslo beat Serra twice before losing by 2 this past weekend. Without the WCAL playoff system this year them winning league probably got them the nod to the open.

D2 is really bad because of the open. Sac high and Mitty should blow out teams. The other divisions look way more competitive.

Didn't SF and Serra both finish 11-3 in league play? So it was a co-title, with SF getting the top WCAL seed in CCS.

St Francis was the champ by virtue of the tiebreaker with two wins over Serra.

The only way I see St. Francis winning is if Stapes, Benedetti, Witt and Thomas light it up from 3pt range. Surprised to see Stapes being non-existent vs. Serra. Credit the Serra D, though.
BOD goes with 4 players 6-8 or taller and they all play and contribute. Hewitt and Mihanovic will be overmatched in this battle. SF will also have to contend with BOD's very good guards in Paris, Walker and impressive frosh, Hardy. All three are quick, excellent ball handlers and can hit the 3.

I have seen both teams play this year and Odowd is a total mismatch for the Lancers at every position on the floor. Rabb is going to be hard to stop and Paris Austin will have success against Witt. I think the Lancers will play Thomas the whole game to try and contain Austin. Lights out shooting and getting Rabb early foul trouble could help, but Odowd is still big and deep without him.
Im rooting for the Lancers, but I still say Odowd by 20.
