Would be nice to see Vanden vs Vacaville on here since it will be the first time they meet in recent memory. 30 years since they last played & they are close to each other. Vanden gets some players from South Vacaville. This is gonna be a Really Big Rivalry!

FYI - anyone not following the WCAL Football thread you might note that in the Game of the Week St. Francis lost their starting QB Jack Perry for the season 2 weeks ago. Last week SF defeated Sacred Heart Cathedral 14-0 in what was their lowest scoring game this season [SF scored 15 vs DLS earlier in the season].

Interesting PAL choice re Terra Nova vs. M-A. The Bears are loaded with individual talent but tend to lack cohesion as a unit, especially on offense. That may well be due to the lack of a stable QB situation. The Bears have gone through a number of guys at the position and it shows. Last week vs. Aragon, they used their outstanding WR, Franklin, as a Wildcat QB and he scored on a sterling jaunt from about 25 yards out. He reminds some of Patrick Nunn of Serra. Same sort of athlete, tall, quick, athletic, etc. M-A needs to get the ball in Franklin's hands more. Against the unbeaten Tigers (whose SOS is less than terrific) Friday, look for the Bears to emerge with a W due to their overwhelming physicality, speed and overall depth. They can rush three and still get pressure on the TN QB. Die-hard Peninsula prep football nuts can watch that afternoon game in Atherton and then zip south to Mountain View to view St. Francis vs. VC in a WCAL biggie. An attractive double-dip.

Yes Colhenry the M-A vs Terra Nova game should be a good one & I have as a toss-up. While M-A is favored and the projected winner I like TN's chances in this one [but not too much as its only a #1 pick, Lol!]...

That's why I picked VC in this game. I did my due diligence via research as other pick'em posters should have. Since you're telling the board things they should research for themselves Pitt lost their QB as well. Do anyone have info on any other significant injuries??? Just saying....

Valley Christian @ St. Francis Straw Poll 10/5/2018, 2:42PM
19 confidence votes, 18 score predictions

St Francis Win: 13 votes; average confidence 5.0
Valley Christian Win: 6 votes; average confidence 3.7

Sum average score prediction:
St Francis: 17 ~ Valley Christian: 14

This week's GOTW game has the closest average confidence levels of all game GOTW game to date. Pickers who took SF had an average of 5.0 confidence level while those picking VC had an average confidence level of 3.7. The results suggest that most pickers were relatively unsure who would win by similar margins. Additionally, the split ratio of picks was the closest of any GOTW game of the past with 68% of the pickers choosing SF. The next closest ratio was the the DLS / Folsom where 70% of the pickers chose DLS.

This GOTW game is, by far, the lowest total game points predicted of all GOTW games to date. Pickers predicted an average of 30.94 points to be scored in this game with the lowest prediction being 20 points. Since a casual relationship was noticed with the highest predicted games having the lowest real total game points outcome and the lowest predicted average score having among the highest real game total points, this is an excellent test for that casual relationship. These two teams have met 20 times before tonight's match up and near every time, the total points were quite low. So for our casual relationship trend to be right this time, the VC @ SF game must be an uncharacteristically high scoring game.

If any team match up could test and break the casual relationship trend, it would be SF/VC. Breaking the trend of pickers' low or high predicted total score meaning the opposite in real outcome, the SF/VC was predicted to be a low scoring game and it turned out to the lowest scoring GOTW game in 2018 so far. In fact the real total score of 10 points was half of the lowest predicted score for this game.

Took a chance on these underdogs and it didn't pay off. Two were tossups, one was competitive for the most part and one was an obvious mismatch.

Granada beat Amador Valley 35-23
Durham beat Colusa 17-14
Pitman beat Gregori 24-6
St. Francis beat Valley Christian 7-3

I actually picked Granada and St. Francis. I thought Gregori would win because they were higher ranked but Colusa cost me 9 points. Only two losses.
