I know the kid from McClymonds was suspended for the year this year but he is a Jr. Any word on what he's doing next? Is he still enrolled at Mack? Did he or Will he be transferring back to San Ramon/Monte Vista? This was a strange situation not use to seeing kids transferring in to the hood. Just wondering what outcome was.

The only thing I can remember that was similar was in SoCal in the late 80s when Perry Klein, who ended up going to Cal, set passing records as a junior at Palisades HS then transferred to Carson as a senior.

Not sure where the kid is going next year. I think Sacramento area people would recall a QB from Nevada Union transferred to Grant to play there a few years back.

If the kid was to transfer back to SRV wouldn't that be considered another athletically motivated transfer and he'd have to sit the first month? Word on the street is the SRV freshman QB us the real deal and could be the next stud east bay QB. I would be surprised to see the Mack kid transfer out of state for the season...

I'm not sure going back to SRV would be considered athletically motivated since he lives in SRV boundaries. Let's face it, he never actually lived in Oakland.

Maybe the kid should transfer to CV. They don't have many rules and the rules they have, they are allowed to break and get away with it...just sayin

Or ray jackson

Ray Jackson will lead Northern California in rushing this year, so go ahead and ask him. Kahlil McKenzie will play Sundays in the very near future so ask him as well. Clayton Valley was one of four schools that practiced a week early (a schedule that the NCS was aware of) and they were the only school penalized. In regards to six transfer (only three played), this was inline with several Bay Area high school. Off the top of my head, Pittsburg had 5, Deer Valley had 5, and San Ramon had 4. They were also the only school that had kids sit out, because their transfers were deemed to be motivated by football, but I am sure the other 200 kids that transferred around the Bay Area were not motivated by Football or any other sport. And I am sure that every single high school is abiding by all of the rules put down by NCS..........or maybe some Coaches/School cry louder than most while doing some of the very same violations that have been thrown at Clayton Valley.

BayReporter, I appreciate your posts and commentary. What source do you have to confirm your allegations regarding the transfers? Having been through the transfer process just a few years ago with my son (Baseball), we worked tirelessly with the NCS and Gil Lemmon (NCS Commissioner) during the process. In the end, our son had to sit out a year. Mr. Lemmon did share with us that the majority of transfers are approved but that each case is evaluated on it's own merits.

Unless you work at the NCS and/or Mr. Lemmon is sharing this information with you, how are you able to confirm that the other schools you mention did not have one player denied eligibility? I ask this with the utmost amount of respect...Thanks.

GoBears, I appreciate your mature, well thought out post. I'm sure at the time your son thought the world was about to end when he realized he lost a season of baseball, but I suspect he's a better man for it today. I also like that rather than hate on Mr. Lemmon you realize that it wasn't personal, it was simply Mr. Lemmon doing his job.

The number of kids that move on and get paid for playing professional sports is about the same as a grain of sand on the beach. Therefore, what's the value of team sports? IMO there are three main things that make teams sports so valuable. 1) The fun the kids have playing them and the friendships they form, 2) the fun friends and family have watching them and 3) most important are the life lessons kids learn by playing them. Your son learned one of the most important life lessons IMO, consequence for our actions. In today's world I think that's what's most wrong with professional sports. An attitude of all about me in team sports and accountability.

I know my own son is starting to show way more maturity and I attribute much of that to him playing ten years of tackle football and eight years of organized baseball. He's blessed(and so are we)that he will be allowed to play four more years of football and get a degree from a great college to support him in his "old age".

At the end of the day we love these kids, we raise them up and if we're lucky we have grandchildren to play with until we meet our maker. With all that said, Friday nights will never ever be the same........................

Nice post. I put a list of kids that will continue that love for the game in another thread. I thought is was important to acknowledge every player that has the zest to play at ANY level in college. Very true that most won't play on Sundays and if they do it might only be for a few years. In the end it's about receiving a good education and the the exprience and personal growth they will gain for it.

Bubba, your reply is spot-on! Yes, my son thought his world was coming to an end. Mr. Lemmon was very thoughtful and considerate towards our son during the Hearing process. Mr. Lemmon was even support. It was a great life lesson for our son.

He is now playing baseball at a local JC. More importantly, he learned that even though he did not win his case, he was given a very fair due-process.

You, Observer and Trivalley continue to provide meaningful and intelligent commentary. I appreciate it.

Is the kid still enrolled at McClymonds? If he is he should just stay there and play his senior year. He sat out the majority of this season so except for maybe a few early games next season he would be eligible for the entire season.
