Riordan 2027 WR Wesley Winn commits to Boston College

He had offers from Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Penn State, etc. and chose BC? Has that ever happened before?

Ohio State, Georgia and LSU aren't looking for players who score 4 TD's in 12 games as a reclass and are barely 5'6, and if they are somebody is getting fired. If anybody thinks those offers are legit then I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for you.

I just didn’t want to accuse anyone of fabricating the truth. I also found it unlikely that Georgia would come out to the Bay Area to offer a kid that small. 247 took all the posts at face value, and put them on his profile.

Yah sure, commit to some place as a sophomore. Sure bet that is not where he be will signing with when he is a senior.

He's listed at 5'10 on one publication, maybe BC didn't do the eyeball test 🤣 Not a bad strategy considering college coaches can't comment on players they are recruiting or not recruiting. Just throw out offers and a commitment and see what happens.

It is very hard to verify all of these offers. Kids and/or their family/coaches vouch for it maybe becauase they don't understand what a real offer is or they want to inflate their status.

Coaches are not in the business of telling kids no and ruin the chance to recruit them later if they choose, so they don't care that much whether the online list is correct or not.

There is a near zero chance he steps foot on the campus of BC as a student athlete. But whatever. Different times.

Extremely doubtful that Coach Adhir allows fake offers to be announced. His record for providing exposure and opportunities for his players to play at the next level (JC->D1) speaks for itself. There are some from other programs that have made these accusations in the past only to called out by Riordan's staff.

It’s either that, or a kid that is 5’9” or 5’10” and weighs around 160, with mid-range production, has offers from every top program in the country.

Wait…didn’t 5’5 Trindon Holliday contribute for LSU?

Goes both ways. Accusing someone has Fake offers. You have proof ? Pump the brakes. He just finished his sophomore season.

Yes, and he also scored 26 touchdowns his junior year (would be soph year if he reclassed). I don't think he'd have any problem taking a game over against Los Gatos either, which an SEC type player should be able to do. Najee Harris, Brock Bowers that's who the SEC comes out here for.

Earl Boykins 5'5", Jose Altuve 5'6", The other Isaiah Thomas 5'9"... its not often but yes small guys can make it and be great.

Explain it like I'm a 3rd grader
Each school has a recruiting board where they stack rank kids they want in a position. If you are say the top 2 to 3 on their board for that position you probably have a committable offer meaning they accept your commitment and they assume the player is committed to go their. In this case they take that player off the board. Many offers are outside of the "top" guys but still are real. They are more like "we really like you and assuming we don't get our top guys we want you here". Problem is that's not figured out until much later like end of junior year so it's a bit of a risk to wait on that.you really want to go where you have a committable offer which means you're one of their top guys.

All that... but Georgia, lsu, Ohio st and Penn st are not considering this fella this early in his career.
The definition of CAP

If you think he just made up some offers and posted them you trippin. That didn't happen. So whatever you wanna tell yourselve cool, all I'm saying is he wasn't lying bout the offers.

Or maybe see where he ranks?
If Georgia offers the 10 best ranked players and let's it play out.. is there somewhere we can see that?
Again, it insane for the sec to leave their backyard for a 5'6 receiver in San Francisco who is a soph.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing. And no there's no place you can see a teams real board. That's up to the parents to ask. All I'm saying is these are real offers just probably not commitable.

Well with no place to fact check... I'd say I was offered by everyone too!
Just odd to be offered by 4 teams in the playoffs and pick Boston

I've seen kids do that! Completely lie about offers. Problem is if a coach sees that then they will ask you to take it down and you can forfeit actually terrible and offer their. One way I used to be able to tell a real offer is if the kid tags the coach that offered him and that coach likes it or retweets it. Now you can't see who likes posts on X.

Considering Coach O'Brien has coached similar receivers to Winn's stature (Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, etc.), or as Winn said -"coach has a history of developing players that look like me", seems like a good fit.
