In other WCAL action:

Power out in Berkeley @SIscores with an early lead. Trammel with a huge dunk for SI. No scores posted on twitter yet that I've seen for Valley Christian / St Francis games. Serra has a 7:30 start at Dublin.

Yes. Riordan collapsed down in him hard. He needs to learn how to pass out the double team faster.

Who was the second starter people have referenced? Obviously the qb is one but people keep saying two.

Lee, was this an upset or do you think the better team, the lower seed, won?

Grant 67 - Acalanes 60 final - looks like it a roadie to Sacramento for the gritty lil Crusaders.......

Hard to tell what impact the 2 missing starters for SPSV would have had on this game, but Riordan came out firing and always seemed to hit a big 3 pt shot when they needed it most. Yates, Oropeza, Clark, Chime and Chun were all hit 3s tonight. Also great D on The big kid Jackson. Impressed that SPSV played better team ball when Jackson went to the bench with foul trouble and Even taking the lead after 3 quarters. Chun came up huge in the 4th quarter with some big 3 point shots and driving layups-and-1s.

I will say this. I have seen St.Pats play 3 to 4 times this season. Them not having Akil hurt them. The other player wasnt a factor...Riordan also played more people. Deeper bench.. .the deciding factor in game. RIORDAN HAD supreme scouting.

Intell. Everytine Dj got the ball. The Crusaders doubled down on him. Forcing him to take awful shots. He. Dj needs to work on his passing....It also takes.him a long time to get going on the block.. the players were prepared..

Ah, finally charged my phone! Lol!
A well-prepared team, tight/physical D and everyone contributing on the offensive end earned the win over the Bruins. Riordan withstood a few Bruin leads in the second half, I believe their biggest deficit was 3 points a few times, but came back with a critical 3 or a drive to the bucket and 1. The soph big man has tremendous upside, but the Riordan D locked down on him on this night. Jelani Clark led the team in the first half that included an emphatic dunk. Chun, Oropeza, Yates, Chime, Benham and Johnson all contributed with their D and points. On to Sac to take on the Grant Pacers! The Crusaders have its WCAL league mates to thank for prepping them on their sectional and norcal run.

Do they have Coach Buck to thank for the supreme scouting?

Who were they mising? Whoever he was. He was replaceable. And not to be disrepesctful but 6 foot 6 was a non factor at the Post position the entire season.

While the Akil kid. Is a division 1 athlete.. the bottom line. U have to deal with the cards that are dealt....thats team sports for you...

6-3 Jr Justice Turner broke his leg against Serra early in league play. He had been coming into his own as he was vital in the wins vs HMB, Berkeley, Acalanes and VC up to that point...It goes to show the great job the players, Coach Curtin, and his staff have done to all contribute with a "next man up" attitude.

Grant and Riordan played 2 common opponents this season Oakland High and Acalanes:
Riordan 61 @ Acalanes 52 (Acalanes Tourney)
Riordan 71 Oakland 24 (Acalanes Tourney)
Grant 67 Acalanes 60 @ Grant HS
Grant 65 Oakland 53 (neutral site)
