Riordan vs. Tamalpais

Tamalpais is 0-1. Lost to Windsor, 41-6. Looks like the Crusaders have scheduled a potential cakewalk. Excellent.

48-26 Final Riordan over Tampalpais
Observations:
2 Starters were out including DE Isiah Chala who had a huge game against Granada 2 weeks ago.
Need to clean up the penalties. A KR for a TD was called back and several drives stalled because of penalties
This team has a lot of weapons with both speed, length and size. The lines are big, deep and young! 3 starters are sophomores and a freshman.
RBs Wilhite and Redding shined with Wilhite going for an 80 TD run and Redding on a long TD run. Appeared both RBs gained 100+ yds each.
QB Michael Mitchell Jr. - this kid does not play like a freshman. really demonstrated poise and seemed to be in control throughout. I believe he threw 3 td passes to 3 different receivers. He really spreads the ball to all his receivers and his mobility can gash defenses if they are playing the receivers tight. Team is still a work in progress, but the ceiling is high as Coach Adhir instills his schemes and the clean up of penalties. KNBR's Brian Murphy came away impressed with Mitchell. I believe his kids go to Tam. Next up a tougher test against Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton.

Just saw the stats and recap video on MaxPreps. Didn't know King Wilhite gained 170 yards and ran for 3 TDs on only 11 carries! Javius Redding and Charlie Johnson split the remaining rushing yards. Total rushing yards gained was 356 yards. Total passing yards was 131 yards, yet the freshman, Michael Mitchell Jr., threw for 3 TDs to 3 different receivers. Will be interesting how the offense fares against SHP. Hope to see Chala and the others that sat out back on the field this weekend. Coach Adhir is 4-0 vs the Gators from his M-A days.

Really impressive how this regime can turn things around in such short time. Addition of Mitchell and Keady along with all their skill guys from last year make them a real sleeper to win league. We might even see a game vs Serra reminiscent of the 2015 game when they beat Serra 66-45 in a shootout. Something's in the water over there on Phelan.

I would cautiously say the potential is there, but still a work in progress. Coach Adhir and his staff has really brought excitement, attention to detail and accountability to the program. The team and the Riordan community are all in. I agree, the offense has not been this explosive since that 2015 team. I think the defense may be better. As with all the teams, health, continued development and growth is key.
The foundation is being laid as Coach Adhir has already held a jr football camp that was well attended (to the dismay of some rival coaches) and will continue moving forward. Also, he’s started the next level flag football program where Coach Walsh @ Serra has successfully run in San Mateo for over a decade. Future is promising on Phelan Ave. err Frida Kahlo Way.
