This is admittedly speculation. But here goes. There might be a potential WCAL rival for Mitty basketball (finally) lurking on what was Phelan Avenue in San Francisco. Riordan began admitting girls when nearly Mercy shut its doors several years ago. If the Riordan administration and trustees desire, the girls' hoops program could mimic the boys' version. How? By focusing on transfers and the use of the school's dormitory wing. It's not rocket science. Just a couple of big-time kids can transform a hoops unit. Mitty can suction up scads of nice players but the Monarchs can play only five at a time. Frankly, seven or eight outstanding players are really all that's necessary. Riordan should be able to do that. The boys do it. Why not the girls? It's all a matter of priorities. Again, just spit-balling here.

Riordan's boarding students - Tara Dacic (Serbia) Dunja Sojanovic (Serbia) and Maxine Sutisna (Indonesia) are very good players on the Crusader roster. Sprinkle in some local kids like Trenia Dunbar (Trevor Dunbar's kid sis) and you got a pretty competitive team. Kaia Berridge's sister, Lyric, was on the Crusader roster last year, but is no longer listed.

It's not easy to get international players eligible, so clearly Riordan has the administrative will to make this happen. And if you have the process down for the boys, shouldn't be too hard to make it work for the girls.

Hold On,…TheR has developed a situation with girls as that they are using with boys,…and there is a problem? Why would there be a difference?

Let me ask a simple question, …”why should they look differently at the @TheR girls programs differently”?

I like the approach TheR is taking to sports and still maintaining and elevation its known stable of Resources for Special Education Learning needs, Advance College Prep courses and Extra Curriculum programs (I.e. Band) to be the Gold Standard to what a HS College Prep program should be locally, nationally and now COED internationally.

What a City to accomplish this Goal,..it takes COMMITTED leadership and vision to accomplish this.
