Congrats to Rocklin. As I said many times throughout the last week, I thought they were a Tier 1 team and I was right. I said multiple times I loved what they were doing.

Rocklin was ready and plays a physical style that this Folsom team doesn't match up well with. I think they play each other one more time in the SJS sections.

It was a GREAT run for the mighty Bulldogs of Folsom, who hadn't lost to an SFL team since Vietnam.

I am just glad that someone on the Highway 80 side finally nutted up and punched Folsom in the gut. Only took 10 years! Now we finally get some competition!

Ahhh do you look back at schedules. They have lost a few recent and a few other games within the last 10 years to teams off the 80 and in the area.

Mighty Folsom? What has been so mighty about them other than they can dominate in an average league for over a decade, but they NEVER had a chance in any year to beat DLS, and chickened out on playing any true So Cal powers.

Just a question. So now that Rocklin will mostly be SFL champion they are stuck in D1. Looking at SJS Playoffs Rocklin would have been D2? Which gives CC a better shot at D2 championship?

Folsom just didnt have enough recruits to beat RHS this year.....or last spring when they used covid to dodge the Thunder.....they would have lost by 70 in the spring.......and yes they did not want anything to do with ROCKLIN last spring....soft, soft, soft.....wonder if they are going to scout Reno again?

Just Think…. Without The Reno Transfer Group, Folsom would not have won the Back to Back D1A Titles in 2017 and 2018…. They wouldn’t have played in a SBG since 2014 when the implemented the Folsom rule to Duck DLS….

They also wouldn’t have played DLS in 2018 so Folsom’s Not Being Shutout Streak sine 2003 would still be in Tact…. 🤣🤣

You lose credibility with ridiculous comments like these.

First, Folsom hasn't been in the SFL for the past decade, let alone over a decade. They were in the Delta/Delta River for 12 consecutive seasons through 2013.

You clearly didn't know that or bother to research before typing nonsense.

Secondly, the SFL has easily been a top 3 league in NorCal for the bulk of the past 10 seasons. In numerous seasons they've been #1 or #2.

In several seasons it was rated top 5 in the entire state by calpreps, even peaking at #2 once.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Yes, if Rocklin wins the SFL (I believe worst case scenario is a co-championship now) they must compete in the D1 playoff bracket as the SFL is a D1 league.

Even w/o winning the SFL title, it is still possible for them to end up in D1 due to enrollment. By current CIF/SJS posted enrollment numbers, they have the 23rd highest enrollment in the section.

If I understand how the bracketing works, it would take 11 teams with higher enrollment numbers not qualifying for postseason play to slot them in there. Probably not very likely half of those teams would miss out, but I believe still possible. But I haven't researched it at all.

The title of this thread is curious to say the least.

First win over Folsom in over 10 years? It's Rocklin's 1st win over Folsom EVER.

But to be fair they had only faced them 7 times previously. Once in 1995 during the Thunder's 1st ever Varsity season then not again til 2014.

So only 6 consecutive matchups in league play until Folsom chose not to play during Spring 2021.

Rocklin couldn't have beaten Folsom 12 years ago .. or 10 .. or 9 .. or 8 .. because they didn't play each other!

It's as if some members here just make up their own truths.

Although Folsom is fortunate they got beat by Del Oro in the 2009 semi's because they would have been smacked down hard by Rocklin in the Section Final had they advanced that far. Folsom's defense that season was dreadful.

Here's some more Folsom fun.

Here are Folsom's lowest scoring outputs (all under 20 points) since 2009:

08/17/18: Folsom 0, De La Salle 14
10/15/21: Folsom 7, Rocklin 40
10/08/21: Folsom 10, De La Salle 31
08/27/10: Folsom 14, Grant Union 49
12/08/12: Folsom 15, De La Salle 49
08/27/11: Folsom 16, Grant Union 43
12/14/13: Folsom 17, De La Salle 45
11/04/16: Folsom 17, Oak Ridge 16

They lost all those games except one to Oak Ridge. And OR actually should have won that game.

What's the common thread there? ALL physical, athletic teams playing discipline defense. Of course DLS represents half the list.

You could almost add Monterey Trail to the list, holding Folsom to 23 when they beat them in 2019.

Also interesting that Rocklin held them to their 2nd lowest output and 3rd largest score differential.

Rocklin benefited from open enrollment and got their first EVER win against Folsom.

Geez- even I could get ONE with with open enrollment if you gave me 10 years.

Glad HWY 80 finally nutted up after all those beatings.

The common thread here is Folsom is playing teams at comparable talent levels.

The other games where they averaged 40 points were against vastly over matched teams that 1000 other schools could have rolled up 40 points on too

The difference is all of the Rocklin kids are from here and live here.....That cant be said about Folsom....Dont even try to cover it up......Just look into it before you start all your physco babble....
open enrollment.....Just try and transfer into RHS.......WHS can't even enroll and they are a mile away....cant say that about Folsom....

Monterey Trail held Folsom to 14 points during regulation in the 2009, including shutting them out in the 2nd half. Both Folsom and MT scored a TD in overtime, but MT went for the win on the two point conversion. Other than that game and 2019, Folsom has averaged 56 pts. per game in the other four match-ups.

And to be accurate, both MT wins came because of a ball-control offense that protected opportunistic defenses. In both wins, MT had more than 20 minutes of possession in the 2nd half.

Truth!

That’s why I said you could ”almost” add them to the list. The 2019 team also had a couple really, really good athletes every bit as talented as what Folsom fielded.

Ilaisa Gonebure transferred in from Capital Christian, but if I’m not mistaken he was originally a Rocklin kid anyway.

Every program gets transfers here and there, but I’ve never really known Rocklin to get all that many. I’ve actually seen many kids brought up through their youth program go elsewhere, including Folsom. And several JV/Varsity kids have transferred to Folsom over the past 6-7 years.

Also, as you said, it’s not usually easy to get into Rocklin High if you don’t reside within its boundaries. It belongs to a closed district and is a distinguished school that consistently ranks among NorCal’s top public academic institutions. IIRC, the last rankings published by US News had only Western Sierra Collegiate Academy (also in Rocklin) ahead of Rocklin High with regard to SJS schools.

My home is nearly centered in between Rocklin and Whitney. My address has always been within Rocklin‘s boundary the 16 years I’ve lived here, but I know others that used to roll up to Rocklin as well that now are within Whitney’s boundary. It changes frequently. It’s often been a headache for some to get their kid into the school they want them to go to if they are in the other school’s boundary.

True....He was a transfer to CC and when CT left he came home...Folsom 4 Rocklin kids and I think only one has moved..........I was informed I am incorrect by Patsy that RHS is open enrollment???
