salesian. cn

Good for CN must listen to some of the game plan that kind of leak out. Gook luck second half !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salesian wins 57-55..I don't normally talk about the refs, but ours were apparently from Clear Lake and players must not move that fast there, because our refs couldn't keep up and they were absolutely HORRIBLE...Guru, I applaud your sportsmanship...your girls played hard but the refs were bad on both sides...

CN had the ball with 41 secs left and tied....

The (what seemed like) 50th travel call of the game by the ref...turnover CN

Salesian came down took the final shot with about 7 secs left...mad scramble for the rebound, ball went to ground and the salesian freshman came up with it just below the freethrow line and turned and calmy swooshed it thru as time expired. The salesian crowd rushed the court in celebration....refs put 1.6 sec back on the clock but to no avail for CN as the final desperation pass was stolen (fittingly).

Good win for Salesian, they showed the championship pedigree of back to back to back State championship runs....Its going to be difficult to take them out.

Guru-

How close is the gap now with CN girls and some of these elites? I mean it sounds like they excited a good game plan and were in position to win. Just curious from your perspective?

How about the NBL boys? 2 teams representing for NCS title.
Newman boys playing very well and basically get a home game.

Larry -

CN is very good and last night's game shows they can play with Salesian. My understanding is that there were a lot of traveling calls(on both teams) and quite a few fouls as well. It is hard to get any rhythm when the whistle blows every 30 seconds. It is possible that both Salesian and SMB get pulled to the open, which would give CN the #1 seed in Norcal Division 4(remember they have beaten Scotts Valley and Bradshaw Christian). The D4 Norcal representative at State last year lost in the NCS semi-finals as well.

As for the NBL boys, both have their hands full. CN is playing its best basketball right now and Coach is pretty excited. MC is also playing extremely well so this one will be a battle. Montgomery may be in trouble.

If Salesian and SMB go to Open you have to like CN chance of going very far if not all the way to state. What is the best seed they can get though? I'm sure they could have a road game mixed in there.

CN boys vs MC will be a great battle. Both teams are peaking.

And Salesian won without Maya Williams, one of the team's tallest players, who tore her ACL in the second SMB game.

A great coaching job by Steve Pezzola (cue the "tanking" chorus) ... he's not one of BD or jazzpt's favorites, so he must be thinking about tanking.

(I wonder how one gets on the good list for those two. Are there any common threads in their faves?)

Larry -

If Salesian and SMB get pulled to open CN will be the #1 Norcal seed(no road games - final on neutral site). If only one gets pulled up, they will be the #2 seed(no road games - final on neutral site).

Would you agree Kookie?

I am supposed to be in hiding. Lol

Don't forget about Brookside Christian

I can't see Brookside, SMB and Salesian all being pulled up. But #1 or #2 is deserving for CN if 2 are gone.

I don't think the Division is down, but this is a crazy year.

I really like what Cardinal Newman brings, I am a believer.

I think Piedmont is also a contender, even after the loss.

I just pray Bradshaw gets a high seed, I just hate traveling 1.5 to 2 hrs to a game on a weekday.

If it's Friday/Saturday I am cool.

Glad this is almost over, a little rest before Pac-12 basketball training/workouts/development/games next year. (Go Utes)

I think the committee knows already who the 6 or 8 teams are. The official news comes out when?
Still can't see three D-4 teams in the open division, who will stay home and look after the kids. (lol)

Just saying, I like Bradshaw here in the upset. Both rosters are very similar, good guards leading team, good sized 3/4 post wing player going div 1, solid role players. The difference will be if Bradshaw can control McDonald, bean can stay out of foul trouble, and which big, Gabriel or Bell plays a better a game. Do not sleep on Bradshaw winning this game

As for Newman , I think they will get anywhere from a 2 seed to 4. Depends on who goes up to open. If SMB wins or loses I think both them and Salesian go up leaving Brookside at 4. If Bradshaw beats Brookside Bradshaw gets 1, Brookside 2 Newman 3 piedmont 4. If SMB or Salesian stays down and say Brookside wins, SMB Salesian loser 1, brookside 2 Newman 3 piedmont/Bradshaw 4/5, last scenario if Bradshaw wins and SMB or Salesian loser stays down SMB Salesian loser 1 Bradshaw 2 Newman 3 Brookside 4, I think they will try to avoid sectional teams playing for as long as they can.

Thanks snacks5 for vote of confidence but:

Bradshaw lost to SMB by 6
Bradshaw lost to Cardinal Newman by 29
Bradshaw shouldn't be a #1 seed with 9 loses.

Bean has only fouled out of 1/2 game in 4 years,
These girls are all friends and played AAU together since 7th grade. Bean used to back up McDonald for Stockton Mustangs under coach Que with Bell and Gabriel on the bench. Bell and Gabriel, Bean and Vaughn all played with CalSparks NorCal under coach M. Massari last year.

And McDonald and Bean will have Pac-12 battles in the future I am sure.
Right now it's like the Williams Sisters fighting for a tennis championship, I am rooting for both teams.

I think it will come down to role players (bad word on this site sorry)

snacks5

Sound like your going to help Brookside get more fired up and you don't want to do that. But I think it will be a real good game between Brookside and Bradshaw. Kookiebean sound like some people are trying to give Brookside to play with a edge because they are being doubt again.

Hopefully the Brookside players don't read this board it might melt their souls. But not trying to rile anyone up. I like Bradshaw and I like Brookside both have players I really enjoy watching in Bean and McDonald. Both teams have very similar wings and similar supporting cast (better than role players huh lol). So any given night with these girls.

I love those Brookside players like crazy.

Now back into hiding I go for sure. lol

No locker room material out of me.
