Week 9 (week record)
1. Mission (1-1) controversial (yet exciting) loss to Wash puts chink in armor. No wiggle room.
2. Urban (2-0) All a coach can ask for from his team. On verge of NorCals.
3. St. Ignatius (1-0) did they even need Emory in first round CCS? Back in right direction.
4. Riordan (1-0) WCAL is just too good for CCS opponents.
5. SHC (1-0) same as Riordan. After spotting Hillsdale 10-0 Irish wake up. Only Irish can beat Irish.
6. Burton (1-0). They are in good position this week to make serious move.
7. University (2-0) The ship has righted; should be fun on 3/2.
8 Stuart Hall (2-0) SH knows NCS, but St. Joseph is looming.
9. Lick Wilmerding (1-1) nice season. Program in good shape.
10. Lincoln (2-0). But Lowell on their heels.
Mission better not look past Lowell this week in semis. There could be match-up problems. Burton is aggressive and wants more one more chance with Bears (but see above). The BCL season is paying dividends in NCS. At least one going on to NorCals. CCS game of week should be Riordan v. Burlingame, the last chance for CIF to keep three San Francisco WCAL schools (two sub .500) out of NorCals.

Week 8 (week record)
1. Mission (1-0) challenged but survived fast pace match v. 12-1 (now 2) Burton. No.1 Seed in playoffs.
2. Urban (2-0) Props to Blues for playing best ball at end of season. Proof in pudding.
3. St. Ignatius (0-2) wheels just fell off second half of season. Can rebound in less competitive CCS DII.
4. Lick Wilmerding (0-1) stellar season needed a signature win in semi-did not get it. Should survive NCS.
5. Riordan (1-1) by virtue of win over Irish (somebody had to win), will compete in watered-down DIII
6. SHC (0-2) same as Riordan; by virtue of loss to Riordan drops.
7. Burton (1-1). Gave Mission a game in hostile environment.
8. University (1-1) Close but no cigar. Pre season schedule should make them strong in NCS.
9 Stuart Hall (0-1) Finding tough to win must win games not stretch; trust will be competitive in NCS.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10. Lincoln and Lowell on heals
A lot cleared up this week. Mission survives Burton 3 machines; hope to see both of these team play at Kezar in few weeks. Congrats to Urban Blues for playing strong and survive the competitive BCL West league season. WCAL City teams despite pedigree limp into CCS. With open division taking all the relatively good teams, watch for up to two of these two squads to make it to a respective CCS final. It is very possible that we can have a sub .500 team make it to State?. Do not like the PC CCS. If you don't have a .500 minimum overall record, you should not be able to advance.

Have a good week.
Week 7 (week record)
1. Mission (2-0) wasn't challenged all week, big game determines fate this Friday.
2. Lick Wilmerding (2-0) riding high into playoffs. While WCAL foes beat up on each other, Lick sneaks by for week. Let's see if they can hold it.
3. SHC (1-1) beats up on VC losses by only 2 to St. Francis at St. Francis. Playing strong but is it too late.
4. St. Ignatius (1-1) beats up on VC loses to St. Francis by 11 at home. They are trending down v. SHC up.
5. Urban (1-1) One point lost v. LW keeps them steady
6. University (2-0) Have they righted the ship?
7. Burton (2-0) they just keep on winning and not against lower tier.
8. Stuart Hall (1-1) Convincing home loss to LW knocks em just a bit. But playoffs provides opportunity.
9. Riordan (0-2) Hard to keep them in considering losing streak; due to WCAL and best concession stand in State.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10.
A great week of San Francisco basketball ahead. Mission playing for point in AAA game of year v. Burton at Mission. Lincoln and Washington clear up league playoffs with their game. LW awarded No. 2 spot based on tough games in their league and always coming out on top. SHC passes SI based on recent win and tough loss v. St. Francis at SF while at same time, SI struggled at home v SF. I do not like giving ties in ranking, but this one is close, but since SHC is trending up, they get the nod. The BCL gets settled this week once and for all. A good couple nights at Kezar. Should be a fun night at the Forum tonight when SHC plays Riordan. The Cats get to go to the Jungle in annually one of the most anticipated games of the season.
City games of the week:
WCAL: SHC@ Riordan
AAA: Burton@Mission; Lincoln@Wash
BCL Playoffs: Univ v SH; Urban v. LW
To all a good week.
Week 6 (week record)
1. Mission (2-0) takes over No. 1 spot for first time based on depth of squad and consistency.
2. St. Ignatius (1-1) lost to SHC and close home win v. Riordan. Based on how they've been tracking last two weeks, needed a strong week; did not get it.
3. L.W (2-0) Keeps on winning. They are convincing a few doubters.
4. SHC (1-1). Good win at home v. S.I. Close loss to Serra away. Modest up-swing. Still no post.
5. Urban (2-0) Big win v. University. They are getting everything out of their players.
6 University (1-1) Beat Stuart Hall; lost to Urban
7. Stuart Hall (1-1) Tough to drop them, but did lose to University. not convinced they'll settle for this spot.
8. Burton (1-0) Best Burton squad in years. 3 Happy with some help in the paint.
9. Riordan (0-2) Just cant win close games; losing Stansberry doesn't help.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10.
Mission is just fun to watch with full squad: Fast, aggressive D and now a presence in middle. Tough to drop Cats but just running out of steam. Very young, well coached, still capable of a nice run but loss to SH; close win to a Stansberry-less Riordan. Things catching up to soph-heavy team and too much pressure on Emory to stop bleeding. I've given up on trying to figure out BCL; so competitive this year.
