Great season continues for the Spartans with a 35-24 win over Hawaii. Kairee Robinson (DLS) had 111 rushing yards and a touchdown as part of 288 yard showing on the ground. Kyle Harmon (Freedom) led the team with 11 tackles

5-0 because the Fresno and Boise games were cancelled win next week they are in the MWC championship game! What a great season so far! Love the NorCal presence on this roster and Coach Brennan emphasis on recruiting NorCal love seeing the names on that roster that I recognize

Great win by the Spartans... Earlier today, I looked at their roster. Looks like 90% NorCal kids.

Maybe the basketball program should start having a look around here, too.

What a great win and what run by Nevens to on the final 2 drives impressive stuff

Cade Hall (Bellarmine) has come on strong the past couple of games. He had 2.5 sacks against Nevada and now has eight on the year.

That’s what’s I thought lol but this wouldn’t be a good move Brennan hes building success with his local ties and work not sure that translates to Tucson

money isn’t everything but head coaches in the Pac-12 typically earn quite a bit more than those in the Mountain West

Great Point Kiddman32. There is so much Basketball talent in NorCal for SJSU to tap into. It's Shameful that they don't recruit locally. It's not like they've been successful with their current recruiting philosophy!!

Trust me I know my boy Rolo got x5 pay raise

Rolo is a great example, I love me some Rolo. Shortly after my son got his offer from Reno in the summer in between his junior and senior years he and I took a ride to Reno for the day to check things out. We gave plenty of advanced notice of our unofficial visit and their offensive line coach didn’t bother showing up. At the time Coach Rolovich was their offensive coordinator and he spent a great deal of time with us watching film and showing us around. He could not have been any nicer. We also met with Head Coach Polian and I was less than impressed with him. Another person that treated us really well was their recruiting coordinator Andy Vaughn. He drove us all around in the golf cart showing us the campus. The very next year Andy became the University of Nebraska’s recruiting coordinator.

Great forever memories for the two of you's Bubba. I went along on several visits with concrete Jr and they turned into memorable shared adventures. On his official recruiting trips he went alone but the other visits we did the lone Ranger and Tonto thing. Meeting the teams and the various coaches was informative, some HC's truly inspiring and some wackadoodles. At every visit Jr requested permission to sit in on 2 classes to get a feel for the academics....very helpful in the end. But the father and son time was priceless and now forever.

As I mentioned I went on the unofficial to Reno with him. His mom ended up going on his two official visits to Las Vegas and Cal Poly. A couple of weeks before signing day I had Tony Sanchez and the line coach John Garrison in my living room. We talked a good bit about Tony's experience at Cal High football and how well recieved he was by the San Ramon community. I also found out that my son was offered twice by two different Las Vegas coaching staffs independently from one another.

Funny story is my ex wife, Tyler's mother told me that at the Las Vegas official there was a lot of alcohol served and one of the defensive coaches hit on her, trying to persuade her to go to his hotel room. At the Cal Poly official there was absolutely no alcohol being consumed. She said players and coaches were very respectful. Needless to say she was impressed.

Coach Tim Walsh= Class

For the most part I agree with that comment. With semi regular post game interviews, it bothered me how Walsh would throw players under the bus and generally make excuses for losses. After watching 5 full seasons of Cal Poly football I can tell you that because of the coaching staff, the Mustangs were poorly prepared to compete most of the time. If not for Joe Protheroe and a sometimes devastating rushing attack, I hate to think how few games they would have won.

1 of only 5 FBS teams to finish undefeated! It's situation like this made you wish they had a basketball-like bracket like tournament to see how far they could go as a Cinderella

When was the last time SJSU football was this good?

2012 when they ended up 11-2 and ranked in the top 25 in mike Macintyre last year before he went to Colorado

To be fair they can only offer those who really are interested. They don't have the money to chase kids who aren't going to play there or want to.

higher ranked and better record and yet 6 pt dogs!!! so easy!! $100 on game one and rode them all year, covered every game. good coaches win great coaches cover. atta boy lancer boy

SJSU has landed a couple of our recent Sac Bee All-Metro kids in Andre Crump (2018) and Marcus Jones Jr. (2019). Jones was actually the All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year.

However, this kind of shows you who SJSU can get at this point. Both of these kids are VERY good football players, but each had question marks that kept the bigger programs from grabbing them.

Crump was a three sport star (FB, BB, Track) with a state championship under his belt in the 4x100 meters. However, he only played one season of varsity football so a lot of programs never saw him until very late in the recruitment process.

Jones is a tackling machine. I don't say this casually. Like many of you, I have watched a LOT of high school football and this kid FINDS the ball like he's full of magnets and it's a chunk of iron. In his case, it's all about giving him the time to grow into his frame. It will take a season or two of college for him to fill out. Many programs just don't want to wait.

SJSU is making an investment that they all hope can pay off big in the long run. If kids like this and others they have recruited can blossom, then recruiting throughout NorCal will become much easier for them in the future.
