Section Finals Scores

Grant’s super sophomores Zo Edwards and Koby Shabazz made some very tough catches down the stretch. Big time plays from the young Pacers. Rocklin was right there. What a game.
Grant has never been shy when it comes to playing underclassmen. This many on one team is pretty crazy tho. Outside of a few seniors, majority of the playing time is coming from freshman and sophomores.

They were well coached, in the right position all night, and never got flustered, even when they went down by 10.
yes well coached .... they didn't panic ... not sure how many fumbles they had but the turnovers really did them in ... i think i saw at least 2 fumbles

Big..
Yes sir, those 2 catches on the last drive were absolutely clutch!

Shabazz with the acrobatic catch on the sideline. Somehow he climbs the ladder, weirdly twisting his body, clutching the ball at its high point, and then going to into limp mode as he somehow awkwardly falls to the ground still in bounds. With the Rocklin defender all over him in great position!

That was the catch of the game... Well, almost!

Moments later, with time ticking away, Alexander catches the snap, adjust the ball in his right hand, cocks his arm back, swings his arm forward while slowly releasing the ball with a slight flicker of his wrist at the end of his release to get that perfect spin on the ball that QB coaches love.

I instantly yell at the screen, WTF kind of throw was that!!! This isn't the time to look cute, you put too much air under it, now its gonna get picked!

As the ball travels through the air, with the camera man tracking it, as it starts it's decent, I notice the Grant receiver Zo come into the frame. He is being smothered by the Rocklin defender, who is in perfect trail position. The ball looks a bit under thrown and out of bounds. The defender is in perfect position to make a play on the ball. Zo somehow with all of his momentum going forward, stops of a dime, jumps up in the air, spins his body around, extends his arms over the defender, and then down, and then snatches the ball out of the air before it could land a yard or two out of bounds. He had to use every bit of his 6"6 frame to secure that catch.

Idk how he was able to catch that ball. It was all in slow motion to me. I need to see the replay to see if I even explained it right.
Indeed you

You summed it up perfectly! Big time plays! The composure on the touchdown winning drive is amazing! Like something out of a movie!

Yes, I think you are right. There were a couple of Rocklin turnovers. I feel like the turnovers were off set by there great defense tho. They forced at least 3 Grant turnover on downs. Two of them, if I am recalling it right, they were in the scoring position before the Rocklin D shut them down. The Rocklin fumbles came on two big running plays that put them in Grant territory before losing the ball.
For me, hopefully, the coaching staff addresses the deep ball. Too many times this year have the opposing receivers been seen running past the Grant db's for big scoring plays. Rocklin capitalized on this as well last night.

Folsom wins that game. By 10-14 points . SRV had been beaten by Pitt each of the last four years in the playoffs. They really wanted that game, and had a chance to win it
PITT is going to put up points on Folsom, I think it’s going to be a tight game and somewhat of a shootout…..

But Folsom has such a huge advantage at QB that will be the difference in the game….

Should be a great game! Pitt plays a physical brand of football to go along with their speed and skill players. Pitt won’t be intimidated as they have gone thru a pretty tough schedule this year.

I don’t know Pitts QB has been absolutely lights out last 2 years if he had Lyons size he would be a top 5 QB in nor cal and D1 prospect

Yep, Lyons won the game for Folsom last year. More specifically, his legs won it

He’s improved alot from last year. Pitt had success against Folsom last year running the football. If Pitt can hit a few big pass plays, which they’ve been able to do this year, it improves their chances. But Lyons is the difference

PItts QB is very good at the HS level but he's 5"7 in cleats. Bummer but getting any looks beyond Juco will be tough.
What makes Folsom dangerous right now is the emergence of there 6"5 TE Toupu. He just flipped to USC and that will be likely home for Ryder as well. This kid has been a monster with 11 receiving TD's on the season thus far. Folsom needs to take care of Oak Ridge tonight who is playing very well but won't have the horses to stay with the bulldogs in the 2nd half.

Carmel offense looked really good. They had mismatch on the lines and WRs towered over the Aptos DBs. Though Carmel QB played well except for a couple really bad deep throws. He threw to spots really well and had a nice spin and arm. If Carmel can step it up on defense they could go far in the lower divisions. It seems the defense steps it up at half - not sure if it is they are slow starters or coaches make players just really well at half or they just play harder to close the game with all the two way players. In any event they win this game 9 out of ten even if Aptos figured out how to field kickoffs and reduce turnovers. Aptos had little defense against the passing attack and difde pretty will on line given how undersized they are. Carmel has a few really exceptional skill players and linemen. Will be interesting who they match up against in the regional game. I've seen Carmel play a couple times before and they brought their A offense and second half their D defense went up to a B+.

Interesting strategy for Golden’s team. He onside kicks on just about every kickoff, and doesn’t seem to mind giving up a short field for the chance to generate an extra possession or two per game. He just plans to outscore you and wants the ball back as often as possible. It’s worked so far and they have a very complete offensive game. If you get more than one score behind them you aren’t catching up, and if you are up 2 scores that still isn’t a safe lead.

The Padres will be a tough out in States.

One thing that was clear was that Carmel did not belong in DIII. Similar to Palma last year. It's becoming the charity dvision.

John Devine reported the PCAL has proposal for 2 A leagues. Seems that will really water down the division. Looks like programs are complaining about the Gab getting most of the playoff picks, but teams don't want to step up to the A league.

There is NO WAY that there are 14 teams (even 12) in the PCAL to fill out 2 A leagues. That would keep Alvarez and Hollister (both with 1-5 records in the A league this year) in the A league. And add Carmel, North Salinas (5-1) in a B league this year, North Monterey County (5-1), Alisal plus St Francis of Watsonville (both with 4-2 records) in a B league into a new A league. Four of the five B league teams moving into a new A league have CalPreps ratings between -5.7 and -14.0. The second PCAL A league would make the Mount Hamilton league look like a super league.

After a Lyons INT, Oak Ridge goes 3 and out and gets the punt blocked. Folsom ball on the Oak Ridge 35.

Folsom has had a lot of penalties in Q1
