As the old saying goes, whose your Padre, the number 1 team in Northern California won with ease tonight. A lot of hype around a few other games, but Serra didn’t need hype. They dominated the second half.

Got lucky to beat Folsom with Lyons going down.

Folsom true #1

Thought it was a workman like game for Serra. St. Francis' defense was tough early, but Serra just wore them down overall

I don't anticipate too many difficulties against the SF and Silicon Valley schools in the WCAL for Serra. I guess league play will just be a little break until playoffs or until they get the privilege to go up against the Trinity.

I pray that Serra continues their NorCal dominance and is chosen to play in the Open as our sacrificial lamb. Seriously, praying they become our David vs the Goliath of SoCal and shock the world, not only going undefeated but declared the #1 team in the country. Miracles do happen if we pray hard enough! 🙏🏼

Serra's defense was lights out last night. Don't think SF had more than 150 total yards. The offensive line was outstanding as well, Smith was never touched.

they haven't played the San Francisco private schools charging $50k/year tuition yet
Dude this is how ignorant you are. The private schools in SF are running just a tad above 20k. The 50k schools are lucky to even have a basketball team. So do us nor cal folks a favor, and shut it. Man you are ignorant. Easily can go online and look up tuitions for Christ’s sakes

Here let me help your brain, cause my company works for the 50k schools as well as the others much less. So follow the math here.

SHC 24k
Riordan 24k
SI 29k

would you like the prices out of Silicon Valley. And anyone with a brain knows many athletes ain’t paying that.

So on that note what school in the Trinity do you donate to again. Until you prove who is your alum, shut it. Cause plenty of us donate to the WCAL. And you should visit Bellarmine one time. The campus is a mini Stanford

Lick used to have one, but I think it’s been quite a few decades. The high price schools with fb are Sacred Heart Prep and Menlo in Atherton, and Harker in San Jose.

You are right. We do have a couple. But outside of SHP the others are not playing anyone that has significance to what is said

Agree that those are outliers at those price points. They just came to mind. There’s a long list of Bay Area schools at staggeringly high prices.

Although a partial member of the WCAL, I would consider Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton a mini Stanford- beautiful campus, team colors and💰💰💰

I wonder what the kids parents do for a living to afford high schools that charge more in tuition than undergraduate colleges, medical school, law school, dental school, and etc. I wish I was born with the silver spoon, but down here in the IE we're working class.

Where do you live in the IE?

padrewhisper - If I read correctly in one of news articles Serra's D limited the Lancers to 96 yards offense and the Lancer RB's rushed 23 times for 23 yards. Padre D was very impressive esp 2nd 1/2.

SF is very limited in terms of speed, skill and athleticism. They have size, strength and depth. But that's not enough vs. higher level units. Serra's offensive line has been hampered by a series of injuries which have trimmed back its running game. So it's pass first, play strong defense and maintain solid special teams. Versus SF, Serra had very few penalties and just one TO. A solid effort. It remains to be seen if Bellarmine or Mitty can challenge them. We will know more Friday.

Yeah I read 112 total yards

Levels.fyi has tech salaries: https://www.levels.fyi/companies/facebook/salaries/software-engineer

That’s for Facebook, but I would guess the other FAANG companies offer similar comp. If someone is a dual-tech income household, they can be pulling in 500k pretty easily. Every other car in my son’s public elementary school parking lot is a Tesla SUV or Porsche Cayenne/Macan (not mine). There are folks in finance or medicine who of course do well, too. I would guess there are families in SoCal at Sierra Canyon and Harvard-Westlake who are similarly well-heeled.

Not every part of the Peninsula is like that, though. Daly City, South San Francisco, East San Bruno, East San Mateo, East Redwood City, etc. are not ritzy. I’ve heard quite a few stories of multiple families living together in those areas to afford the rental prices.

The tech money gets the headlines, but there are a lot of families here just barely getting by. The divide is significant.

paying $50k a year to send your kid to a private high school in Silicon Valley/SF is insane. Or even $30k at S.I. in SF is absurd. These are medical school tuition rates for private high schools that are probably indoctrinating our kids with their theories. You only pay $50k per year at private high schools that feed into IVYs. And I got a feeling that many of these kids going to the $50k per year school probably end up at San Jose state or Santa Clara/USF instead of the Ivys

Dude you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the 50k a year schools. Those kids are going to big time schools all over this country. My buddy is high up at Branson. And although I am a SH alum and SI has always been are hated rival, one thing I respect is they have some damn good and well respected alumni. So with that said worry about the educations the QPR football players get. Many of our Bay Area kids do damn well including some that are athletes.

My understanding is that it used to be an all girl boarding school guarded by cool nuns and a couple of great danes. At least that's according to my mom and aunt. Lol

Nueva had 45 Stanford acceptances over the past four years.

I agree. Some may see value in it, but it is absurd.

You can look at the graduating classes for Oak Ridge, Folsom, Rocklin, and Del Oro. They are littered with kids going to these same schools (Stanford, UCs, States, Ivys, etc.....) and didn't pay a DIME for HS. I think that is harder to find at Bay Area publics now, but the theory is still the same.....insanity!

Ah have you ever heard of Gunn, Palo Alto, Campolindo, Menlo Atherton, Acalanes, Lowell, Sir Frances Drake, Northgate, San Ramon Valley, I could rattle off a number of public schools doing very well.

Here is a link. Feel free to see where many Bay Area schools rank, some I didn’t even mention.

What is cherry picking. The list and what I said is fact. You are talking about kids not paying a dime in high school going to Ivy League schools. You think anything North of the Bay Area beats that, that’s hilarious and quite frankly delusional. And then add our private school kids to the list, it’s not even close. And you think all of this cause Folsom is number 2 in Nor Cal. This is true comedy

Cherry picking is using a SMALL number of schools to support your argument when it is a well known fact that Bay Area public schools have generally gone in the wrong direction. Why do you think private schools flourish so much there and generally flounder in the foothills? Fact.

And you mention "north of the bay." That is no mans land. The Sacramento metro area is north east from the Bay.

Ain't NO ONE moving into the Bay Area with school aged kids "for the public school system." They are here. :)

All right Galileo you are correct. How someone from Folsom and this other guy from the inland empire know so much about the Bay Area is beyond me. And you still didn’t answer the other sports outside of football. Take your blinders off under the bright Friday night lights.

What other sports? All the schools up this way generally excel in all sports and are ranked near the top in academics. This is a fact.

Not everyone gives a hoot about football. A lot do. A lot don't. There are amazing MLB players coming out of this area, not to mention the basketball is near the top in the state every year.
