Serra Dominates

Ah have you ever heard of Gunn, Palo Alto, Campolindo, Menlo Atherton, Acalanes, Lowell, Sir Frances Drake, Northgate, San Ramon Valley, I could rattle off a number of public schools doing very well.

Here is a link. Feel free to see where many Bay Area schools rank, some I didn’t even mention.

I would add Lynbrook, Monta Vista (Cupertino), Cupertino HS, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Vista (Danville), Foothill, Burlingame, Los Alto and Palo Alto High.

We can add many Jordan. You and I both know. I mean how many people who actually live in Hillsborough say I live in Burlingame. Same can be said for those that say I live in Redwood City but live in Woodside

soooooooo like 10 out of 3,000?

Solid "quality" numbers @HSWIZARD73
Ah based on Jordan’s post we are up to 19. But why argue with the guy who knows everything more than any of us in the Bay Area yet doesn’t live in the Bay Area. On that note we all look forward to moving to Folsom. Oh and as for basketball, Sac area had one team in 10 combined divisions playing for a state title this year. We had 5. You had Elk Grove.

Over all the years I have posted and been on this site, the Bay Area still has some serious basketball athletes. And what do you think we don’t have pro players in baseball at the moment.

And since it is a football forum:

Austin Hooper, David Bakahtari, Davante Adam’s, Jared Goff, Najee Harris, Joe Mixon, Devin Asiasi, damn them enrollment numbers overall are killing us in athletes.

Please everyone don’t move. Before we know it we will have nothing.

So 19 out of 3k. Nice :)

SF is very limited in terms of speed, skill and athleticism. They have size, strength and depth. But that's not enough vs. higher level units. Serra's offensive line has been hampered by a series of injuries which have trimmed back its running game. So it's pass first, play strong defense and maintain solid special teams. Versus SF, Serra had very few penalties and just one TO. A solid effort. It remains to be seen if Bellarmine or Mitty can challenge them. We will know more Friday.

Some people on here said this years SF team would be better than last years team.

What happened?

I don’t know why you think we have 3000. You know maybe you should Google information. The whole state currently has 1,297 public high schools. So yeah.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 30 out of 600-700?

Solid numbers bro.

1297 and you think 600-700 are in the Bay Area. LMAO. Did you apply to any of the private schools in San Francisco by chance? Cause it is evident you would have failed the math portion of the entrance exam, BRO

There are about 300.

So your 30 "great schools" are a whopping TEN percent. For context, just for you....that means TEN percent of all Bay Area public high schools are even worth a persons time. 1 out of 10 is super solid!

Math exam bro. :)

Great Schools ratings and test scores are largely a function of student demographics. Folsom HS has just 2% English learners and 15% low income. Carlmont HS in Belmont has similar demographics, and similar Great Schools ratings. Same thing at Burlingame HS.

Sequoia HS in Redwood City has 19% English learners and 49% low income. They have lower ratings across the board.

Show someone EL percentages and low-income percentages and they can often predict test scores and Great Schools ratings.

Since Folsom HS is located at the most eastern edge of Sacramento County, what are the overall scores for that county? Oak RIdge does not count as they are in El Dorado County. Del Oro, Granite Bay and Rocklin are in Placer county.

Now that is a great question?

Here is the link for Folsom HS on Niche.

Overall Niche Grade: A+
Students: 2,589

Other HS in Folsom:
Vista Del Lago
Overal Niche Grade: A+
Students: 1,810

For reference:
De La Salle High School
Overall Niche Rating: A (lower than both Folsom schools)
Yearly tuition: $18,550

More importantly how many of these students are moving on to college? That’s how I grade schools. I wouldn’t compare Public schools to private because generally it’s not fair. But I would be curious To know how these public schools stack up against each other. Both my kids went to public and one went to 4 year and one to juco.

I count only 9 schools rated 9 or better in Sac County with a total of 70+ schools, not including private. That's roughly 12% Please stop with the cherry pickinghttps://school-ratings.com/counties/Sacramento.html?type=HS&rankFilter=9

Great schools dot org, rates Folsom High School College readiness at a 10/10. I did not make the stats.

I am willing to bet the college acceptance rate is the same if not higher than a private school like De La Salle.

Folsom: Free
DLS: 19k a year

Folsom>Most privates :)

Folsom is it's own city. It is not in Sacramento.

Mid to large cities, we generally don't lump into county statistics, especially in large major metro areas where there are large disparities.

The schools here are the best :)
You bashed the Bay Area Public schools that represent 5 counties. Easy to manipulate the numbers to fit your narrative. Btw - SF City and County Publics have 30% of its High Schools rated 9 or better.

Slown down. Most of that was tounge and cheek because people like you react like this at the SLIGHTEST comment that schools somewhere else MIGHT be just as good or better than in the Bay Area (which is true).

Chill out. There are other great areas to live with great schools. Not a slight to anyone or anywhere. :)

I be willing to bet they don’t but like I said it’s not really fair to compare public to private. I know Folsom is a really good public school academically and I’m sure they send a good amount of kids to college.
