Any predictions? (After Folsom I should say)

Rocklin had a great team last year and if QB didn’t get gl hurt they were a state title contender. They lost a lot but this program is rock solid. @ThunderRam , any insights?
Oak Ridge will! Be much improved and returns starting QB and a very good line. Plus they have a nice group of JV kids that will make contributions. Taylor has them looking very good.
Granite Bay played great last year especially at end of season. This is another program that appears to be back on the rise especially with their coaching .
I don’t know enough about what DO and Whitney have returning but overall it appears to be a really tight cluster of teams after Folsom. And let’s face it. Folsom has an injury to a key person like QB and somebody else can knock them off like last year.

I basically see the league shuffling the deck this year. In contrast to last season with the exception of Folsom who should remain on top.
Folsom has an ebarassment of riches in terms of talent and with D1 offers littering the locker room they should keep the janitorial staff busy all year. There good, no disrespect intended so if they stay healthy they are still the baba yaga. I'm excited to see their preason play out as it's a good schedule of games. But your right LL, one key injury can have them less baba yaga if you will lol

I must say that the SFL is perhaps the toughest league in Norcal and every team is a playoff contender in my opinion. That for me will be internally debated with myself, lol, once we see a resurgence of Bellarmine in the WCAL. For now we are top gun up here until we travel south.

In terms of the others, Rocklin lost some significant talent last year a really loded team. Like many others in the SFL they simply rinse and repeat. Its a tough ass league., Assuming they still aspire to committ to the run they have evolving the last few seasons they will be uber competive. Maybe 2 maybe 4 but they got a returning qb and return some stout running backs, great linebackers and opportunistic secondary. Question mark is oline/depth.

Granite Bay should be poised to challenge for second or be the clear duece. Lots of hype through the grapevines that GB is the most improved. Coach Cattolico appears to have a good squad, a pension for little details and a strict disciplinary approach to get them starting fast. GB will most likely replace the QB from last season with the now senior Long, whom received quality reps last year. Unless something has changed drastically the ground and pound will be featured with that oline depth but I have know idea who's running the rock this year.

Oak Ridge interest me most, they struggled mightily in league play, and lost soundly to Whitney to close out a forgettable league year. Glad to see you fill in some of the blanks on the trojans.

I don't know a thing about what to expect from Whitney, except they came in second for football transfers according to Sacbee. I can't discount the success they had last year in playoffs.

Del Oro not sure what to make of them. I ran across recent quote from HC that stated they have some young players that flew under the radar last year that suggest they are impact players on this year campaign.
I'd love to hear from any thers with the scoop or simple opinions. Sorry about the font, it's whack. I had been typing some notes on my phone between meetings today. Good stuff!

@Santa Ball and @WWHS44 likely have a lot more insight than I do. I've not been in the loop near as much as prior to 2020.

That said, I do know they have several key returners such as QB Joey Roberts, who replaced Kenny Lueth after his devastating injury. Roberts obviously played well and gained valuable experience. Hopefully that pays off for the Thunder this season.

In addition to Roberts, they've also got defensive stalwarts LB Derek Houston and DB Austin Adams returning.

Pretty much ALL their top offensive play makers are gone, as is their leading rusher.

However, as Santa Ball alluded to, they've got a trio of Senior RB's that rushed for close to 800 yards and scored 12 TD's between them in 2021. Eli Hardy, Mason Silva and Elias Brown. A name to watch out for might be SOPH RB Derek Keeley who led the JV team in rushing last season as a freshman.

Another youngster to keep an eye on is 6-1, 245 SOPH lineman Henry Hatada.

Thanks TR! Always good to hear your insights.
Agree on GB. I do think they will emerge as the next best.
OR will be much improved. Taylor has made lots of changes to personnel and staff. I’m not reading much into last year because it was such a tough transition after loosing HC Cavalier the previous year and a very good senior class. Last year OR lost by 1 to GB, 7 to Vacaville, and in the last 3 minutes to a very good Menlo Atherton team. Sadly I think they sort of threw in towel against Whitney the last game of year.
They return an excellent HS QB in Maddox Varella who started as a jr and will be solid. He won’t be making any elite 8 teams but he’s an excellent system QB. They have a massive line which will average 6”3 260-270. Schedule is on softer side for OR but that will provide them some confidence in early season.

TR, I think Whitney will be good also. Will be a super comp league in the middle.

For Rocklin yes, the backfield looks solid. They also have a pair of impact players that will contribute significantly. Hall at WR, and Larson, LB/money back type. I think it was Hall i watched in limited reps at the Sac tourney, made some impressive catches. I don't think they have alot of impact guys from their JV last year so not sure about Rocklins depth.

Oak Ridge with a line like that should be really good. People I talk to seem to think overall the league is better. Whitney, Oak Ridge much better than their 21 SFL record. And if it's possible,, Folsom is a better overall team then last year. 🤪
