At Kezar, the stands up behind each basket are not up to code and can’t be used during a big game like that. Without those stands, it takes the capacity way under 5k.In that case, go old school and play the Bruce-Mahoney @ Kezar Pavilion!!

I did not know that. ThanksAt Kezar, the stands up behind each basket are not up to code and can’t be used during a big game like that. Without those stands, it takes the capacity way under 5k.
Should keep it at USF. Chase Center is really out of the way. The 5000 fans in a 5000 seat gym sounds a lot better than 5000 at a 19,000 seat arena.

You can barely get 4-5 Thousand into Kezar. I'm just sayin.I'd rather have room to spare. We fit 10,000 at Kezar more than once. No reason Chase can't.
Just for the record I’d play in a completely packed Kezar any day of the week. There’s no experience like that. It's long passed time to raze and rebuild Kezar. They could put a nice 10 or 12,000 seat arena there, add 4 or 5 decks of parking to the existing lot and go to town with college and prep tournaments. Maybe even have the state title game in San Francisco instead of ARCO.
It's always competitive. It might be closer than SI thinks but reserve a ticket for the baseball game just in case.Does anyone expect this year’s game to even be competitive? Basketball that is
Yes, it is a rivalry game and neither team is head and shoulders over the other.Does anyone expect this year’s game to even be competitive? Basketball that is

Back in the day when the City schools sold out Kezar during rivalry games, students would climb on to the roof and watch the game thru the skylights.Just for the record I’d play in a completely packed Kezar any day of the week. There’s no experience like that.
SHC came within 6 points mid-way through the 3rd Q against the very, very hot offensive play of Bellarmine. From that point, after a series of questionable substitutions by SHC, the game went to a 20 point deficit. In the 4th Q, the starters from SHC were pulled relatively early on and the bench players got more minutes than usual yet, the Bells reserves were also on fire, so that’s how the game resulted in a 30 point win.Does anyone expect this year’s game to even be competitive? I absolutely agree! Kezar needs to undergo major renovations. Kezar may be a registered Historical Landmark. If this is the case, there are many logistical barriers to renovating the Historic Stanyon Street site. Maybe the Warriors can pick up this bill.........It's long passed time to raze and rebuild Kezar. Do you mean through those round painted-over windows?Back in the day when the City schools sold out Kezar during rivalry games, students would climb on to the roof and watch the game thru the skylights.
Yeah, that's why they were painted over!Do you mean through those round painted-over windows?
I see S.I. based on perimeter shooting and advantage (albeit small) in the paint. S.I just has to defend two SHC players. Irish don't run any offensive schemes.
I think tonight’s game is evenly matched. It’s going to be a great game. With the injuries SI have up front, it makes the game very interesting as both teams are now pretty even in size. You gotta love a rivalry like this as no matter the standings or personnel, both teams want bragging rights and the Trophy at the end of the day. Darrion can do it all and if he gets loose look out. Darrion played a hell of a game last year. He scored all of SI’s 3rd Q points so he’s looking to put daggers into the hearts of SHC. Neal and Monroe will have to play an unpredictable game, meaning they must know that they are the targets so they have to create opportunities for their teammates. If they do that, we are going to see a great game of Basketball tonight at USFOne of the keys for SI are to limit dribble penetration by Monroe - I believe they have the requisite quickness and depth to make life difficult on Bryce. Another key is to matchup on Neal (don't leave him to help out on Monroe) limiting open looks from 3 point land for him.
I don't think that SI plays much if any zone but a zone defense which limits any / all Monroe penetration plus tilt zone towards Neal and make the OTHER three players on the floor beat you.
Not so sure about the painted windows, but Kezar is now deemed as structurally prohibited. The last time the game was played at Kezar, the concrete side walls on upper west side deck were popping out externally. They have not allowed people on that side since.
Kezar does deserve a facelift... the lady has seen better days but not a better venue to capture the essence of City ball. The old SH/SI,Riordan match-ups were amazing. Other than the last SH/SI game to be played there, the 98 Balboa/SI game was vintage City classic.
Tonight SI wins but SHC at least makes it interesting.
