Any thoughts on why granite bay would be ranked higher then grant even tho they lost the head to head battle?

If this projected bracket pans out, I'd like to see a grant vs inderkum game if both take care of business.

Inderkum has a higher power rating by 10 points over Central Catholic. :) We will see how it all pans out on Saturday. :)

I agree, Inderkum should be #2, but that's what MaxPreps is projecting at this time.

How is Inderkum not 2????

Inderkum = 4 Section Final appearances, 0 Section Titles
Central Catholic = 21 Section Final appearances, 19 Titles
Del Oro = 17 Section Final appearances, 11 Titles

History may be a factor?

Inderkum is also in it's 14th season

Yeah I never understand these playoff seedings. I remember in 2009, when St. Mary's was given the #1 seed over Grant. Grant was forced to play Rocklin at a neutral site; which seemed odd. Especially since Grant won the state championship the year before and had beaten a nationally ranked Bellevue during the season... I thought Grant being the #1 seed should have been a no brainer...

Sooooo, since 2005...
Inderkum = 146-27, 84.39% winning percentage, 0 Section Titles
Central Catholic = 157-28, 84.86% winning percentage, 7 Section Titles
Del Oro = 138-49, 73.80% winning percentage, 6 Section Titles

I get what you're saying about them being a "new" school, but historically they have not been able to show that their regular season schedule is any indicator of play-off success.

Your question was "how?" and if I was seeding the brackets, that would be the rationale that would put Inderkum at #3. You may not agree with it, but that's the scenario that puts Inderkum at #3

The potential second round matchup of Grant at Inderkum would make a killing financially for the section.

I believe they were runner-up a handful of times. They’ve been successful. So the seeding is based on reputation? Or on current team rating?

I doubt it inderkum doesn’t have a big fan base and grant fans have given up on the pacers. They don’t support losing football they chewed as a new one back when they only lost once or twice a year. Al has lost a lot of support from the community one could argue he’s been lost the community but these 4 wins seasons are icing on the cake

Does that mean you wanna play Inderkum?

It means it not gonna be a sold out game like the poster. Our players would love to play inderkum you’d see them get more hyped for that game thang any other team on our schedule

Then why wouldn’t Al take the game the last four years? At any rate, if the game happens, maybe just maybe, North Sac will get the game that should happen every year

Al knows the state of his program in know way would he dodge inderkum of all schools. When the game was offered it was nothing grant could benefit from playing inderkum makes sense now since they are a little more established but they have yet to win anything and they play d3 league at the time if I’m not mistaken doesn’t inderkum still play in a d3 league then move up to d2 in playoffs.my point is Beating inderkum does nothing for grant just like inderkum playing natomas does nothing for inderkum

It's a D2 league and they've played in D2 last couple years....I hardly think you can compare Inderkum to Natomas...Playing Burbank and Capital Christian provides you more than Inderkum? Capital wooped up on the G this year but last year, they're in the first year with Casey Taylor and a D5 team...

Inderkum had opening for this season to play Grant. AL said no and wanted to play Franklin. Inderkum has been in the D2 playoffs last 3 years, and is Currently in the Capital Valley Conference which is a D2 league.

Side note the power ratings are supposed to be the tie breaker for the playoffs this year. This new format is not supposed to take in teams past accomplishments. We can debate on here on why the team we like should be placed at a certain seed. We will see if the committee stays true to the new format on Saturday. If some teams get higher seeds with a lower power rating then we know the SJS committee isn't abiding by the new power ratings that they created. Then we will know the calprep rankings don't mean anything, so why even have them.

Grant and Indy fans may not show up but Sacramento is a large area and I think there are allot of people who would attend that game, I for one and I have no connection to either program....Just a HS football fan...

The last 4 years Inderkum fan base has grown. The bleachers are full every game, and the band has 200 students. Homecoming crowds are very big with fireworks during pregame and halftime. Usually in the playoffs the crowds dwindle a bit, but I would imagine if this game was to take place it would be a packed house with an electrifying atmosphere.

Man people need to get off the Grant hype! Lol The Pacers are not very good anymore. They got exposed in 2009 (Rocklin) and 2010 (Folsom).

They couldn't win section championships with arguably the most loaded rosters in Sacramento history.

If they couldn't beat quality teams with that talent, they certainly wont do it with lesser talent.

Indy would beat the brakes off of Grant... Al has been afraid to play them for 10 years now.

Amen

Lol. U guys.

Any semifinal game or championship game will be packed no matter who the 2 teams that are playing. We have a much better following now, we finally have a community out there is North Natomas. Student amd teacher support is amazing compared to just 4or5 yrs ago.
To be honest the teams in past got a huge lack of support but now we have alumni that are almost in their 30s, we have ex players that remember what they help build n bringing back their lil guys to watch us, supporting us on social media and giving their support in any ways possible.

Now for playoffs.

I think the committee will do a great job and I also think they will get slammed by people no-matter which way they go. Lol

It must be getting close to playoff time cuz that talk on here is getting intense and ratched up. Great for Sac football!

I actually see Grant getting the 4th seed; should they beat Whitney. 4 of Grant's loses are to teams that are currently undefeated. Central (Fresno), Folsom, Capital Christian, and Del Oro are all undefeated.

DO or Folsom will have a lose, but I see your point. Again, do they use the ratings or reputation???

Maybe inderkum should schedule capital inderkum got dominated by Del Oro twice with could be inderkum most talented rosters. Playing Burbank is based on the relationship grant had with Burbank coaching staff

Grant had been scared to play Indy for 10 years? You sure about that lol 10 years go Indy was barely even built. As great as inderkum has been locally they played in a league that grant would win by 40 a game. Inderkum has never won a section title. We’ve seen some of the best rosters inderkum will
Produce and they could barely score on Del Oro. Inderkum is smaller than grant that offense helps them a lot but grant has great history against that type of offense. Inderkum is what Monterey trails is if they got to play against the teams inderkum gets to play in league. Their league is a joke grant would look “back” if they played against Roseville, wood creek, Bella vista, Lincoln, Yuba City, river valley and antelope.

So losing to a state champ in Folsom and rocklin best team is getting exposed? The better team doesn’t always win 2010 grant was hurt in the folsom rematch or did you forget they played the first game of the season and the next year. I guess Del Oro exposed inderkum huh? Look at grants schedule from this year let me know when they come close to that type of scheduling.

@Deltadodger

We all know that the Pacers didnt want to see that speedy Wing T. Inderkum is just like the old school Johnson teams from the 80s-to the early 2000s. Except they might have more athletes being so close to the Heights and Manors. And Johnson usually gave Grant problems, especially when they fielded good teams.

On any given play, Inderkum can take it to the house. You'd have to play discipline football against Inderkum. Cant just hit everybody at the line of scrimmage like NU.... too much speed on the field....

Makes no sense to not play Inderkum. When they are in your own back yard and its difficult to schedule games.

Sure the Pacers would have beat them the first few seasons. But now, it wouldnt even be a game.

Man the way you make it sound inderkum should be exactly what placer is but they ain’t. Inderkum and grant do not pull from the same talent pool maybe natomas in the early 2000s. Stark has the same kind of athletes at natomas he couldn’t get past the same type of teams inderkum is struggling to get past. You bring up nu inderkum has nowhere near the size of what nu had one could argue on the talent nu had back then too. Inderkum has yet to win a section title meaning they haven’t won when it matters. Just 4 years ago grant won a section title. Put grant in a d2 league with the like of Yuba City Roseville...etc grant would win by a lot but they’ll struggle against the better teams in play offs just like inderkum. Grants lost all cane to teams that’s better than inderkum. A lot of you are bringing up the fact that al didn’t take the invite did they accept grants invite? I could bring up the fact that grant has to schedule teams from Fresno because nobody wanted to play them. Athlete wise there’s nothing inderkum could put on the field that grant doesn’t have on their team. Grant is bigger and faster I hope we get matched up with inderkum in the play offs

Let's see if something will get scheduled next year...And be careful what you wish for...What will you have to say if Inderkum beats Grant by 2-3 scores in the playoffs??? Grant can only hide behind great athletes for so long, eventually they have to coach...Great athletes, poorly coached. If they have all the talent you talk about then they should never lose. I

Inderkum run a wing t offense. Monterey trail runs a veer offense. I know first hand games have tried to be scheduled between Grant and Inderkum. Both sides will blame each other on why it didn't happen. Grant is a very storied program. As we know you can have all the talent in the world, but the guys in the trenches win the games. Grant has had some studs up front to go along with their speed. Inderkum has had some bad bad luck when it comes to section finals that goes beyond the football field. Inderkum hasn't had the lineman to match anybody. DO exposed this the last two years. Terry is a great coach. We always hear about the scholarship guys, but what he and Coach Hamasaki does with the line that average weight two years ago in the section title was about 185 pounds is remarkable. This year Inderkum actually has a solid offensive line.

We can talk until we are blue in the face, but does it really matter. We don't even know the outcome of the bracket yet. :) If they game happens then the banter will be fun. Until then games need to be played tonight. :)

@Deltadodger

Inderkum has wanted to play Grant. True, there are teams that didnt want to play Grant but Inderkum wasn't one of them. There isn't a valid excuse for not playing Inderkum.

There is definitely a Grant/Inderkum connection:
Two of Inderkums better players have come from Grant. Antonio Bumpers (2k yard rusher) and Larry Hardy (this kid was incredible). There are also a host of other kids whose parents are Grant alumnus...

So the tie to Grant is strong. Some kids choose Inderkum while others choose Grant.

On a side note:
Why do you think Grant has fallen off a bit?? Families are choosing to go to other schools.

Hardy 2014-- Indy12-2 All-World talent
Dotson 2016-- Antelope 12-1 2k yard rusher great speed
Ross 2018-- Capital Christian 9-0
Incredible talent. Great runner and linebacker....

Grant fell off because they lost out on these three kids... While they had a great season in 2014, Hardy was the best athlete in the City. Grant would have been scary good with Hardy.

Same goes for Dotson and Ross.

Losing Dotson and Ross has caused Grant to turn to the spread...
