D1

Folsom over McClatchy: I think this Folsom team is the best one out of Sacramento in at least a decade and they keep rolling.

St. Mary's over Antelope: St. Mary's won this matchup at the WCJ and seem to be playing better by the week.

D2

Christian Brothers over Woodcreek: CBS is too much in this one led by league MVP Jada Hunter.

Whitney over Vista del Lago: One of the tougher picks for tonight, but I like the way Whitney has played recently so I will go with a mild upset.

D3

Vanden over Kimball: Vanden is a couple of levels above anyone else in this division.

Lincoln over East Union: Another good matchup. Lincoln is led by senior Katie Leeth and Maya Hodge. Taylor Snaer is a standout for East Union

D4

Colfax over Marysville: Colfax swept the regular season series and adds a third win tonight

Riverbank over Escalon: Riverbank ends Escalon's section run as a 10 seed. Riverbank has won 11 in a row

Folsom holds on to win 57-52. St. Mary’s takes care of business, winning 51-38. Should be a good championship game and opportunity for the Lady Rams to avenge their loss vs the Lady Bulldogs after losing the 4th quarter that resulted in losing the game on 12/10/22 @ Folsom. GO LADY RAMS!

D2 semifinal: Christian Brothers 72-48 over Woodcreek. Jr. Kaia Foster had 32 and Sen. Jada Hunter added 16 for the victors.

Mustange76: What are your thoughts and predictions on the next game between Christian Brothers vs. Whitney in the SJS D2 Finals?

I’ve only seen glimpses of Whitney and 6’3” Harper Peterson, a national recruit for the 2024 cycle, I’ve read. She’ll be a load for CB which has no starter taller than 5’9”.
But I think this will be a guard-dominated game and CB has one of the top trios in the Section in Hunter, Foster and Harmon. All three average between 12-19 points, scoring from different levels. It’s rare that two will have off nights and often two or all have big nights.
Another key element is CB’s pressure D which wears better teams down late in games. That was the case in the wins over Manteca and Woodcreek. Both games were close until about late third quarter.
So a big question will be can Whitney guards handle it.
