Will the luck of the the Irish play a roll in the rematch on St. Pat's? SMS will be wearing green too.

Any predictions CityBoy? 415 heading to 209.

SHC coach made a run in the second half in the first game. Ram fans say SMS relaxed and allowed the comeback. Irish fans say we finally started playing our game. What will the rematch be?

Danger going to UCONN. Geno only gets the best. No PG like Danger on the west coast.

Even though SMS has home court, game is being played at Delta College. Not in the SMS gym. SHC will have the drive but playing at Delta will be closer to a neutral site. Definitely not like playing at SMS gym. The luck of the Irish did get SHC not to play at SMS gym.

It is unfortunate that SMS has worked so hard this season to get the #1 seed and the home court advantage that comes with it. To have to go and play at a some what neutral site. Not many teams win have won at SMS gym. CIF is saying SMS if you want home games in the Open build a bigger gym. SMS think revenue (for CIF).

That is ironic, right? I thought about that last week! I got SHC by 10. Here's why. They have played SMS twice in the last 2 years with the same group of girls so SMS style won't be a surprise to them. Both games ended with single digit wins by SMS.

SHC has 6 seniors that have all played in big games the last 3 years.

SHC also matches up with SMS better than any other team besides Chaminade in the state and might even go a little deeper on the bench at the guard position.

The game also being played at Delta which is a bigger court than SMS home gym also favors SHC.

Rams fans can say what they want about the last game. SMS only won the 1st qtr of that game so nobody in their right mind can tell me a team relaxed for 3qtrs smh thats ridiculous. That must be the only game they relaxed because they blew everybody else out.

Lastly SHC has been playing tough games the last month so they are battle tested and have gone through some adversity. It would be interesting to see if this young SMS team can play when there backs up against the wall.

Either way this is basically the championship game of the open division. SHC should have got the 3rd seed and been in the other bracket. SI should have got the 8th seed and been playing SMS the first game!

Headline Wednesday morning: The Luck Of The Irish: SHC Beats SMS on St. Patricks Day (This story is already written)

Let me also throw this in there. Danger is a GREAT pg and played a hell of a game against SMS. Let's not sleep on the SHC guards though. They have a 4 guard rotation that go hard

I love the passion 415! And a bold prediction too! Your coming with fire. You still have until Tues at 6:59pm if you want to take it back?

I don't think SMS fans will make a prediction they usually let the game speak for itself but I could be wrong?

Something that will be different from the last two match ups will be this time will be under the bright lights and pressure of the Open with many more in attendance, tons of college coaches & with your season on the line. For the seniors there hs careers on the line. SMS has lots of experience under the lights/pressure. SHC is peaking at the right time. The young gun coach from SHC vs fiesty and intense SMS coach. I'll have my popcorn ready!

The entire open division will have good games Tuesday. The SMS/SHC could be a tight game. I always hear "The Young SMS" and get a little laugh. The do have youth but the Juniors have all played 98 Varsity games including 17 playoff games. They have also played 30+ games against top 200 nationally ranked teams during that time. Smith and Murray the two sophs have played in 65 games. They are so far from being a young team. The experience level far exceeds any team playing. The Delta Gym factor is a second home as they have played probably 6 games there the last 2 years. It is a much different feel though and does not have the small SMS gym advantage. The fans will be a lot happier at Delta though, SMS is a sweat box. And a new gym at SMS is on the table in the next couple of years. SHC will break the press which will keep this game close, however, the energy expended breaking it usually has a big effect on teams later in the game. If SMS with its smothering D and up tempo is hitting 3's and converting at the line this will be a very one-sided game. On the other hand if SHC can defend the 3 while taking SMS out of the up tempo we will have a game. My money is on the chalk here. GO SMS!!!!!

At this point in the season, there are no easy wins, and there's certainly a chance SHC could pull off the upset.

But SMS has played a tough, national-level schedule every year, and is as battle-tested as they come. Crystal Dangerfield of Blackman, who had the most to do with SMS's lone loss (to No. 2 in the nation Blackman at the Nike TOC), isn't suiting up for SHC, though, and that could make it tough.

The other thing is depth, of which SMS has a lot. Not to mention DaCosta, arguably the best freshman in the state.

Should be a great game, though all of them at this point have that potential.

Cityboy415, didn't say it before, but I love the name. I was born and raised in the city!! Moved when I was 14.
I am not one to make predictions. I tell my kid to NEVER sleep on anyone, never go into something, anything, thinking you have it. With that being said, I am one of those parents/ people who believe SMS did seem really relaxed, wasn't playing with a sense of urgency earlier this season against SHC. I am talking about the players, not the coaching staff. I remember trying to get the attention of my kid several times, telling her to pick up her energy level. I took another look at the game and in my opinion, the SHC game was one of the worse games SMS played this season.
It's the post season. Teams are playing better and teams are hungry. From what I saw last night in SMS I can tell they want this bad. The intensity level was at an all time high. I have never seen this team play like that before. I am sure SHC, especially with so many seniors, want it just as bad, and are coming to play.
I really think this is going to be one of the best Nor Cal games of the season, as I heard the MM vs Pinewood game was a good one as well. At the end of the day you have 2 really good, quick, passionate teams, with the same goal. Good luck to the Irish! Can't wait til Tuesday!

Should be a great game, but SMS got this one. SMS could have won by 40+ last night, but Tom cleared his bench beginning of fourth quarter. I have never witnessed a young team in age play like them. If they play like they did the first half last night, they will easily win. When they played SHC the girls seemed lackadaisical , maybe it was the long commute, maybe they took SHC for granted. Come Tuesday, no excuses, I'm sure the girls will leave everything on the court.

By the way Kk, Sierra looked really good last night. She is a great leader and her assists are probably one of the best I've seen in any pg. i like that she doesn't look to score, instead she makes everyone around her better. She is an assisting machine, shows her unselfishness, very impressive. I do take back my comment about her leading a team, she may not score much, but she make this team run.

Garcia2, thanks! As I am my kid's toughest critic, I think last night was not a good game for her. She was not happy with her game either. While she did have a lot of assists, 8 I think, did get her team going, she had like 7 turnovers, the most for her all season. She averages less than 2 per game.
SMS as a whole played very well. But we have to take it one game at a time, bring it EVERY game. I will go out on a limb and say this though, if SMS plays like they did last night, it's going to be hard for ANY team in the state to beat them. Key word, IF.

Right on fam hate to see you moved out we might a had a chance to see your daughter play in that SHC uniform :). At this point every team still playing should have gotten better since the pre-season so that goes for evrey one. I don't sleep on SMS or take them for granted at all. I'm just trying to raise some eyebrows and ruffle a few feathers to get some folks to pay some homage to SHC. Being from the city we don't get any respect and it's about time some is paid. These girls have been to a state championship and played in a few big games since the coaching change at SHC (3 years ago). Let's not forget SHC was the power house before their coaching change when the program won 3 strait state championships in a row and the mythical national championship. The program fell off for a few years but coach Russell has them back on track now.

As far as this game goes the most valid point that I'm making is that SHC has a chance more than anyone to pull off the upset. My reasoning is because this same group of girls played at SMS last year in the pre-season and lost 87-82. Then lost again this year in the preseason by 6. So when these cats make up all these excuses for the score being what it was then they just not respecting the game. You can't tell me these kids and coaches didn't come to play 2 years in a row lol. Come on now it's time to start giving some credit to the SHC program. I understand being a fan and all but numbers don't lie.

Some say SMS has the best Freshman in the state and my response is ok SHC has one of the best sophomore in the state I'lmari Thomas who was the freshman of the year last year and another post player going to Arizona. It's a pretty evenly matched game. SMS presses and so does SHC. SMS has played some tough teams this year and SHC has played the toughest schedule in the state. LOL so I'm confused how people think SHC will be beat by 20??

All in all this is basically the championship game and the winner will go on to rep northern cali in the state championship.

CityBoy415, as you can see from my post on another thread, I am a big fan of Thomas. I had a chance to meet and talk to her mom like 4 years ago after a game, hit it off right away. Sierra and I'mari are good friends, have a lot in common. Both are only 14 with birthdays in Oct, both skipped a grade, and are great students and athletes. I'mari is definitely one of the best players in her class.
SHC has always been one of my fav teams in the Bay. Tierra Rogers is one of my fav players coming out of the city.
You made some valid points. Like I said before, we over here don't sleep on any team. And I don't believe in upsets. I believe that teams come to play, hopefully come to give 110%, and the best team, putting forth the best effort, coming up with the best game plan, on that day wins. We shall see who that team is come Tuesday night!!

City teams don't get any respect? Excuse me, but wasn't SHC the No. 1 team in the nation just a few years ago?

And both Campolindo and Miramonte had to travel to SHC in the last five or six years despite the fact that SHC had many more losses. They were the third seed both times, and both times lost -- leading me to believe the section commissioners gave a City team more love than it deserved.

I think everybody feels disrepected at one point or another, but San Francisco, with SI and SHC always in the mix, gets its fair share of respect too. And in D5 boys and girls, City teams are generally heavily represented at the top of the rankings.

ClayK

that was almost 10 years ago and the program fell off under a different coach before this new coach took over. If SHC had gotten any respect they would have got the 3 seed this year. 3 years ago campo should have gon to SHC and the score reflected that. However when it comes to the rankings some how SHC gets the short end of the stick just about every time.

How does Carondelet get to have a Norcal home game in their tiny gym which is smaller than SMS's gym and SMS has to play at Delta?

downbylaw, last night's Nor Cal game at SMS vs MC was packed. I am sure the SMS vs SHC game is going to attract a lot more people. Believe me when I say, there's not enough room in that gym.

I hear you Kross, and have read from cvhl that it's a sweat box. But I bet SMS coach doesn't care if the fans are packed in like sadines & uncomfortable or if the the gym is 100 degrees on a March evening. With the frenetic pace he is trying to impose that sweat box works to his advantage. It's like having a sixth player on the court with it being hot as a summer day and the fans on top of you, it's definitely an advantage SMS coach wont have going forward. Believe or not but it also has a impact on the way it will be refereed. In the sweat box more 50/50 calls will go to the home team at the neutral Delta venue less pressure on refs to give the call to the home team.

There are capacity requirement for all divisions and for stages of the playoffs. This game will be played off campus. You want it on campus, better build a bigger gym. With all the banners SMS has hanging they probably need a bigger space by now anyway.

Box_out!, it does get pretty hot in the gym, but not sure about anything else you just said. All I know is our girls are ready to play at Delta, as they were at Arco. They played very well at Arco, didn't skip a beat, and I think the refs were pretty neutral as well. Me, I never use the refs as an excuse to take away from a win of any team, or to blame for a loss of my team. I am confident come Tuesday, the gym won't matter, the calls the refs make won't either, but that the best team will win.

downbylaw

Carondelet doesn't get to have anything they just lost to Presentation...another WCAL school

downbylaw

I'm just giving you a hard time. Carondelet played in De La Salle's gym they don't play in their own
