Some Monday Scores (so far):
San Ramon Valley beat Frances Parker (San Diego), 54-50
Pleasant Valley (Chico) beat La Jolla Country Day, 43-42 in a nail-biter
McClatchy beat Mission Hills (San Marcos), 71-54

St. Mary's of Stockton lost to Lincoln of San Diego, 42-43.

I only watched the last 22 seconds of the game and that was ugly.
Lincoln had possession but a strange half court violation on the inbound pass turned the ball over to St. Mary's.
St. Mary's missed a three-pointer shot, appeared to get the rebound, but a jump ball resulted with a Lincoln player.
Still St. Mary's ball possession after the jump ball (9.1 seconds left). Time out-St. Mary's. Then Time out-Lincoln.
St. Mary's inbounds, but another jump ball (6.7 seconds left), and possession goes to Lincoln.
Then Lincoln throws away the inbound pass--the ball went right through the hands of a Lincoln player and out-of-bounds, giving the ball back to St. Mary's. (5.9 seconds left).
St. Mary's inbounds the pass, and Lincoln fouls St. Mary's, (the 5th foul on Lincoln, putting St. Mary's in the bonus for two (2) free throws.
Then, the St. Mary's basketball player misses two (2) free throws with 4.4 seconds in the game, which could have either tied the score or win the game.
St. Mary's gets the rebound after the two missed free throws, but another jump ball when a Lincoln player ties up St. Mary's.
But the possession arrow is for St. Mary's, so they get ANOTHER opportunity (1.4 seconds left).
St. Mary's misses a difficult turn-around shot in the key. Lincoln wins. It was an ugly 22 seconds to watch, which lasted about 5 minutes in total time.

Last "Varsity level" game: Christian Brothers (Sacramento) beat Lincoln-Stockton, 54-38
CBS outscored Lincoln-Stockton in every quarter. CBS playing strong lately--now ten (10) straight wins since losing three straight games in mid-December.

NCP pundits had Lincoln ranked No. 20. CB had a challenging preseason, including Carondelet, Acalanes, McClatchy and a couple of solid out-of-state opponents at the Nike TOC. They have risen from the fire like a Phoenix, torching the past 10 opponents. They controlled Lincoln for much of the game. Six-foot sophomore wing Olivia Novi had 20, including six 3s. She’ll be a coveted college recruit before she’s done. Senior point guard Aleyah Harmon had 10. She’s committed to Cal Baptist. Everything runs through her. Jr. wing Joy Omishakin (13) and sophomore post Journey Williams (7) are beasts in the boards despite average height. They have an effective press and the coaches cook up some nice specialty plays that give shooters a lot of great looks. So far no team has come close to them in league play where they are 5-0. I’m looking forward to the game vs. St. Ignatius at the Elite Showcase in Alameda.

Mustange76:
Christian Brothers (CBS) has a great opportunity to win the SJS D2 title this season. CBS is ranked #1 in MaxPreps for D2 SJS, with little competition. But when it comes to the NorCal playoff level, CBS may get moved up to D1 due to competitive equity, where the competition will be much more intense. So your promoting CBS here on Nor Cal Preps could advertise that CBS is ripe to be elevated to D1 in the NorCal playoffs.

Facts are facts. And I doubt anything I write will influence a selection committee whoever they may be. Competitive equity. CB hasn’t won a title since 2020. They are fine right where they are.
