Top CCS QBs

Would add Carmel senior Hudson Rutherford, on the list of other QBs. He's around 6-2 / 6-3, 170-180 lbs with 140 completions (70.4%) and 2,409 yards and 27 TDs. Throws a nice ball and accurate and if he gets a little stronger in the off-season will turns some heads.

Strong group of QBs over the next couple season and some sophs will emerge.

Don't know if he is going to play at the next level unless he goes JUCO route. But he is in his 3rd year of the system and he has lots of talent around him, he should put up some very impressive stats the year. Plus Carmel's league schedule is not really tough. (More on the latter)

I watched some film on him. He looks pretty good. Agree that he needs to get better, but he looks to have the tools and is very accurate which is tough to teach. He throws to spots well. A summer and he could improve dramatically. Agree it's tough to say given their strength of schedule, and also haven't heard much outside from camps.

Have you heard anything on who the Palma QB will be?

Yep. Competitive and not picked yet but good chance it will be soph Cruz Espinoza who came up on varsity as frosh during playoffs (as did other frosh Patrick Driscoll a lefty who is also developing and pretty good and worked with former NFLer QB David Fales). Cruz is around 5-11, 170lbs and throws nice accurate and nice in pocket or on the run. He also throws well to spots. He has had a very good off season at camps and passing league. Palma JV QB JT Herrald, 6-7 185 lbs, will be competing also but I think he will be better in another position since he is athletic and basketball player and mismatch for many corners at WR. I think Cruz is ahead of the others. Other QB junior Cesar V Mercado, QB, TE/DE (6-0, 202) is very athletic but also played TE/DE is probably better at another skill position and on defense. Cruz could be a positive surprise this season.

The soph class was stacked with skill players and line. A couple sophs could start on the line (one is J Castaneda a 6-6 290 lbs soph and on recruiting radar and soph Kaden Colon who is 6-4, 261). Palma also returns Srs starter Eric McKay (6-1, 250+) and Von Swim (6-2, 270) and TE Aidan Williams (6.4, 225) and other seniors and juniors with significant time. Defensive backs return most starters and linebackers should be good. They just need to get the offense clicking which will have lots of speed (top track team in PCAL) and soph phenom Eli Dukes back at RB with depth at the position. Could be a very good team by playoff time. West Coast preps did a preview on Cruz Espinoza.
