Mississippi St. is ahead of UConn 36-28 at halftime in the national semifinals, threatening their record winning streak. Should be an interesting second half.

Tied after 4. Headed to OT!

MSU had an opportunity there in the final seconds, but good D by Huskies.

Absolutely! Tremendous upset pulled off, one of the biggest in sports history.

Morgan William...again!!!
5 foot nothing with a heart 10 foot tall....
my kind of player!!!

Or maybe another prima dona coach
Taken down!!!! What a great year for
The women's game!!!!!

They start on third base.....
Hmm mm just like some HS coaches...
If you start with two or three of the best players in the country year after year....
How could you not be a top five team year after year?

And how is it that UConn starts with two or three of the best players? Isn't that part of coaching in college?

The MS point guard is a studette!!

And the flagrant foul was one of the biggest BS calls Ive ever seen. KLS flopped.
The MS girl barely grazed her and KLS reacted a split second after initial grazing, not even when it happened, total acting job IMO....THANK GOD it didn't effect the outcome as that's all everybody would have been talking about today....

Jazz- What is your bitch with Gino? Did he refuse to give you a table in his gym as well?

KLS was always well known for her flopping. LOL A timely flop also had a significant effect on the SC- FS outcome.

Basketball game out comes are a sport more dictated by Timing and Matchups than any other sport. Miss. State had the matchup factor in their favor and it seems that the Timing factor also played out well for them on that day. The timing factor being the variables that change from game to game and day to day. Hot or cold shooting, officiating, injuries, coaching brain freezes, etc.

Big time flop.. That would have been a tough way to lose.

Good question ... there were issues at MSU, as several players, including at least one starter, were disciplined right at the end of the season and had their minutes reduced. No idea if this was related, but that did seem pretty odd.

Clay

Why are you questioning behind the scenes? It's about what happen on the court! UCON HAD NO answer for the big. UCON didn't shoot at a great percentage. Mississippi St. HELD them to one shot and done. The refs try to take the game at the end with that flagrant foul. But like that old saying the ball don't lie!!!!! It was a great game to watch!!!

The KLS flop was an Academy Award performance. ....when she played at MD I called her constant flopping all year long...
People were always asking me what I had against her. ...
Give me a table in his gym????
What is that about?....is that about Clays
Bently tournament. .. I didn't care about that
I was just messing with Clay.... sometimes I do that just to mess with people

The Morgan William thing in the final round was wierd...I think the whole team was gassed. ...I mentioned this in another post
The MSU had grinding practice the day before the final...and Dawn Staley had South Carolina doing yoga and recovery the
Day before the final...
I think Dawn might have won the championship. ..before the championship game even started. ..the fact that she was a player..at a high level ...previous to coaching might have really helped and made a difference

Yes creating a pipeline is a huge thing
Just like Mitty, SMS, MM and Mater D....who all also lost..
You know I just really like it when people who are born on third base can't make it home....when everything is in the others team favor and you beat them....I live for those moments

so Clovis West is on that list too right? I mean craig coached those seniors since like 2nd or 3rd grade.. which I have not problem with btw. Its called building a program, part of being a "good" coach.. so why don't these other coaches you lust for do that??

I am taking about a pipeline year after year....like 10 years or more in a row....
Geno....has that at UCONN

That is true Geno and several other coaches have an advantage having a pipeline flowing with talent. But that pipeline has to be created and maintained. And Geno has been one of the best at doing that.

Oh yea totally makes sense.. if you get talent, you probably cant coach.. I get it now. Sorry Roy Williams, sorry Coach K, Nick Saban, Muffett McGraw, Tara Vandeveer, and especially you Geno, ya'll can't coach.. just surfing that pipeline, talent solves all problems...

jazz, you love to poke at the big dogs because you were never one of them... you just dont get it.. you've always been a watcher, never a doer. You weren't even the best trainer at the YMCA!

Jazz loves the underdogs, an American tradition -- but adds to that familiar refrain hating the overdog, which seems unnecessary.

YMCA....do have a story there....tried to offer free training to underprivileged kids of San Jose for free on Saturday morning. ..but they told me I had to charge them....what a farce....they say it is all about the kids and families. ...then you try to do something for free and they tell you can't because the other trainers would think it wasn't fair....what garbage

Not a doer.. I do my core pole training with my training twice a day...With my senior disabled clients.....

So who was the best trainer at the YMCA.. .
I worked at three. .. got fired only at the last one:)

You took the words right out of my mouth. Rooting for the underdog does not mean you have to hate those that have succeeded. Hey I am glad that Uconn lost, but I still recognize that their success did not come with out hard work and effort. Truly life is not always fair but it is a mistake to assume that success always comes via an unfair advantage.

HAve you ever heard Geno talk about how fortunate he is to gotten 2 or 3 or the top players in the nation every year for the last ten years..
Mitty, SMS, MM, MD.....you have a huge advantage....admit you did a terrible job based on the starting advantage you have...

Given UConn’s loss, it looks like De La Salle’s football 151 game win streak will remain as the greatest sports accomplishment in modern day athletics.

high school only--boys' bb 159, girls' bb 218, boys' cc 289, girls' golf 177, boys'/girls' swimming and diving 165/281, boys/girls' tennis 318/279, wrestling 468, girls' lacrosse 155, gymnastics 777.

I know that Florida men's tennis won a s__it-ton of consecutive matches in the 50's, way past UConn. I'll bet if you dial in D2, D3 you'd find all sorts of ridiculous streaks.

greatest modern sports accomplishment? me going out to exercise 2 days in a row.

Yes schools start with an advantage, but it isn't this overwhelming thing that prevents them from getting beat. For the majority of the year, SMS played without a Top 40 senior in the region. Mitty has had two 5-star talents in the past decade (Hayes and now Jones, who is still a soph). Miramonte has had one player who was above a low major grade in the last decade (albeit a great one in Ionescu).

Should certain programs always be near the top? YES
Is it a sign of bad coaching when they don't win the Open Division every year? NO
