Haley Van Dyke scored 58 points while Ashley Thoms had 27 in a 96-75 win over Brookside Christian.

Wow.. that’s pretty impressive

That adds up to two players scoring 85 of the 96 points. And it also adds up to those 85 points beating the 75 the other team was able to score. Next time Haley just one more shot to hit the 60 point mark. Sounds like the ankle injury healed up just fine.:)

Impressive from an individual standpoint. Congrats to Ms. Van Dyke. But from a team standpoint, a stronger opponent would take advantage of the lack of depth. You can't go deep into the postseason with that lack of depth.

McClatchy beat Campolindo twice this season; the last game at the WCJ, McClatchy's starting center Kamryn Hall didn't even play the entire WCJ tournament due to a bad ankle sprain.

"McClatchy (9-3) has been playing without star junior wing Kamryn Hall (bad ankle sprain) for the past three weeks so the (WCJ-Gold) tournament title is huge for Coach Jeff Ota and his girls going into Metropolitan Conference play."

cptmycpa,

That is why it has always concerned me when a team relies too much on the one or two players they have each season taking the majority of the shots. You must develop other players for the times down the road when you will need them. Because it never matters when you are simply better than your opponent is. But when you get into the post season or even the regular season and play better opponents they typically double, deny, or have the right matchup(s) to take away the one or two players who shoot the most and the game is generally over for lack of overall team improvement. But of course some are under the false impression that what works in the easier games will continue to work. Therefore they make no effort to improve. That can be very frustating on the outside looking in. Because you know experience has proven otherwise 95% of the time. And why play the game if improvement is not the main goal? Improvement is a realistic goal unlike winning every time. And if you're not improving weak areas in individuals and team play, sooner or later you won't be winning when you run into better opponents. That's guaranteed 95% of the time. I'll take 95% over a 5% chance to win every time.
