Got here a couple minutes after the first game started. Cornerstone Christian v. Cosumnes Oaks. I was hoping that the tine Antioch school with a good record could at least give Oaks some trouble despite school size, considering Oaks’ lackluster record. Ummm…. Nope. It’s 40-11 Oaks at the half.

Anyway, the only game I plan to really go all keyboard crazy on is the finale with Campo vs. Lincon-Stockton…. But I’ll update a bit here and there from this tiny lil gym.

Stagg Hi of Stockton is playing Mountain House now…. Not the prettiest game I’ve ever seen by any stretch, but close and competitive…. 17-14 Stagg after one q.

Lathrop v Tracy now…. It’s been a bit of a shooting show, 3’s falling regularly…. 23-16 Tracy after 1.

Game got even more interesting about halfway thru the 3rd….

An altercation on the floor almost led to a full-on fight…. A guy on Tracy got ejected and a guy on Lathrop was (I think) voluntarily benched by his coach…. At the time, the game was still close, but after that *all* the momentum went to Tracy and they drew away by as much as 15 before a couple late Lathrop scores made the final 70-26 Tracy.

Next up: Sacramento vs.Monterey Trail.

Junior Varick Lewis is putting up 22ppg for Monterey Trail; he’s certainly one to watch. They have a below-.500, but they handed Grant its 3rd loss of their season a couple nights ago.

Sac has a 12-10 record, againt what is argualbly a tougher schedule overall…. Sac is ranked quite a bit higher by Maxpreps, though MT jumped a huge 139 spots forward after that Grant win.

Lewis has a pair of very deep 3’s and a handful of other sharp plays already.

Lewis appears to have tweaked his back trying for a rebound, comes out…. Sac scores to make it 48-6, but MY hits a 3…. 49-48 MT.

And then a steal, and the man-of-the-minute, #22 rebounds and puts it back…. Suddenly, it’s 60-49 Sac.

Apparently, a T called on Sac…. Lewis sinks 1 of 2. 60-50. 6:01 left.

Now 60-51 after a FT by MT…. Sac fouled, FT’s good. 62-51.

Now we have the hosts, Venture Academy vs. St. Pat’s-St.Vincent.

Venture Academy is 19-4, but the 16-1 St. Pat’s Bruins are by far the toughest test they’ve had. Overall scedule strength ratings are heavily in favor of the Bruins.

SPSV’s only loss is to rizona powerhouse Brophy Prep, ranked #2 in that state.

Then Naffziger takes a Lincoln charge!
