Dude was jogging to the locker room before the flag hit the turf. Now gone for the season and I have to wonder who would want to pay him again when he clearly values delivering cheap shots more than he does collecting a paycheck to play. Maybe some semi-pro team could use that skill set more than the NFL does.

...and, even more worrisome, the parents of young athletes are watching the idiotic violence perpetrated by loose cannons like Burfict and saying to themselves, "no way is my kid going to be exposed to such dangerous nut jobs."...

The NFL doesn't care about player safety. They care about looking like they care about player safety. That being said I can't believe this guy hasn't been kicked out of the league for doing things like this at HS, College, and Pros.

That is so true!!

My cousin works as a freelance sports broadcast director for ESPN, CBS Sports and local networks back in the Midwest, based out of Ohio.
A couple years back at a Bengals game Burfuct, when he could've stopped or ran left or right put his shoulder down and instead ran full stream into the camera man with over 25 years of sports event work standing back a few yards from the sidelines.
The camera man ended up with a cut requiring stitches above his eye and a dislocated shoulder.
My cousin thru his contracted company lodged a complaint to which Burfuct responded by saying the cameraman should seriously look for another line of work.
A real piece of work........

Well hopefully he's just landed his last "paid" cheap shot. He's always been an oversized punk.

Heard about this on sportstalk this AM. This guy has a terrible history with 13 suspensions and fines over 7 yrs for such incidents. After this latest "cheap shot" he appears to be smiling while running off the field [real class].
The penalty was appropriate as either player or both could have been seriously injured. Vontaze Burfict loses all remaining pay the rest of the year & my guess is his NFL career may be done.

A lot of this started at the State Open game 11 or so years ago when DLS played Centennial Corona. The refs had every reason to boot him from the game but did not.

Was at the SBG in scenic Carson and if I recall correctly Spartan Qb, Gilvray recieved a late hit from Burfict 1st half, which pretty much took Gilvray out of the rest of that game,

And here we are tonight, 30 or so hours later and, yep, the TV networks are still playing, re-playing and re-playing again and again that grotesque assault on that helpless player. Wonderful. Remind parents again why football is a worthy endeavor for their sons.

Seriously. Oh, by the way, Joe Mixon is playing like some drunk college girl just challenged him to a fight!

Interesting that A. Brown got knocked out by a Burfict dirty hit. Then the Raiders take the castoff after Cincy says “enough of this punk!”

I somewhat liked Chucky even after he and bad haircut bailed on the City that made them rich. TWICE. A Captain? Really? Good riddance and enjoy 24/7 air conditioning.
The kicker is Mayock had pretty harsh words for the thug years ago....then signs him! “ A pirate is the Autumn wind....”
NO. It’s rich guys sucking hard earned money out of the regular guy’s wallet, pocketing it without nary a care.

The last several years the Raiders organization has made one bad move after another & they've been REALLY bad moves. Is it simply Mark Davis, his "dumb & dumber" haircut and too much time spent at Hooters [Mark evidently luvs the place!]. Or is it something else we're all missing?? Just think $100 Mil for "Chuckie", Unbelievable & that was Mark's call 100%.

Good stuff! but am confused - where do we go to meet "real thugs" and why is knowledgable Col referred to as "amber guyer"? I am sooo confused..... Oh wait - A's coming up to bat, Never mind...

Call me perplexed. Bewildered. Flummoxed.

.....now be nice, Markie wants to move his Silver & Black to the Glitter Gulch so he can reprise his role as Dr Zaius from the original Planet of The Apes for the annual Vegas Comic-Cons.......

What I don't understand is why the players union has not taken a stand ? Isn't it a core responsibility of a union to ensure a safe work environment ? This idiot is putting his own people at risk ! In my world, if you don't work safely and put others at risk you are down the road. Nobody cares if you can frame the most walls, bang down the most shingles etc... you are gone ! Why won't they kick his ass out ?

Correct on all points. Burfict's behavior is entirely counterproductive for the NFL and its future (young players and their parents watching on Sunday, Monday and Thursday in prime time).

If your world includes an annual STARTING salary of $860,000 then your lament rings true. I want to be in your local!

The answer to your question is the NFLPA and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The players need that 860k because they want that for their Not For Long (term) financial security. (Which is misleading based on 4.4 years of average tenure. It takes $230 k to raise a kid...Hello Antonio Cromartie!)
The players know it’s a violent game. And the rules are evolving because of it. But a dirty player helping to get a ring means $200k, let alone the endorsement bonanza.
And the owner gets (unneeded) millions more.

Watch "Marcus Peters Pick 6 Vs. Bucs & Gets HAMMERED At Goal-Line" on YouTube
WOW, he got DESTROYED

Glad you brought this play up.

I saw this segment below with Mike Greenberg, Ryan Clark, and Domonique Foxworth a few days ago and I couldn't agree more with Clark and Foxworth. The NFL seems only interested in protecting offensive players and those who makes the most $$. Case in point, there wasn't even a flag thrown on that play!!! But you can bet that had it involved a WR (hello Burfict and AB!!) or a QB the result would have been different.

That's why his only offer was to ASU and why he went undrafted when his talent level clearly had him in the first 3 rounds

Burfict actually had 9 D1 offers including USC and Miami. He had a poor combine, which really dropped his stock.
