Most of the match ups this week are about seeding. 10 of the 12 spots are pretty much set, with the only real questions being "Will St.Mary's go D1, and if so, who gets bumped down?" and "Who gets the #12 spot?"

Folsom, Inderkum, Turlock, Edison, and Monterey Trail are hoping to stay on track for league championships. Each is favored to win by multiple touchdowns and any slip up will result in a seedings tumble.

Del Oro is looking to win a shocker, but could improve their seeding just by keeping it close.

Oak Ridge is looking to solidify their argument as the #2 team in D1. A loss will seriously threaten their bye week.

Gregori is desperate to hold onto that #12 playoff spot. Franklin is looking for the big win to move past them. Enochs is looking to XupsetX beat Gregori AND leapfrog Franklin to sneak in at the last moment.

Pleasant Grove is probably set at #11 no matter what happens, but nobody wants to head into the playoffs on a down note.

The BIG games are Davis at Cosumnes Oaks for the Delta title and St. Mary's at Lincoln for the TCAL championship. Winning and losing will have huge impacts on the seeding and the teams who will be in each division. CO, Inderkum, and St. Mary's are all on the edge of D1/D2 and one of them is getting moved down. Additionally, a 20+ point win by any of these teams could lock them into the top 4 in D1 with a bye week as a reward.

Inderkum at Roseville [projection: Inderkum 38-21]

Enochs at Gregori [projection: Gregori 22-21]

Pitman at Turlock [projection: Turlock 40-0]

Davis (CA) at Cosumnes Oaks [projection: Cosumnes Oaks 24-22]

Franklin at Sheldon 15pm [projection: Franklin 31-24]

McClatchy at Monterey Trail [projection: Monterey Trail 62-0]

Edison at Franklin [projection: Edison 62-0]

Del Oro at Folsom [projection: Folsom 50-13]

St. Mary's at Lincoln [projection: Lincoln 35-34]

Oak Ridge at Elk Grove (CA), [projection: Oak Ridge 38-27]

Pleasant Grove at Jesuit [projection: Jesuit 34-27]

Stagg at Chavez (Projection Chavez 28-21) Can you keep a 6-4 Chavez team out of the playoffs?? What if you have to fill lower level brackets who don't have enough teams that qualify. Wouldn't this cause a domino affect and more D1 teams who do qualify have to get in? I guess we will find out Sunday at 2. :)

Chavez has almost no chance of making the playoffs. Basically, teams in front of them would have to be disqualified for it to occur. Almost every division will easily have enough potential qualifiers. Even if one or two doesn't, Chavez is still kind of far down the list of teams to fill those spots.

And yes, several teams that have winning records will be excluded from the playoffs, while teams with losing records will make it. The same thing happened last year. Chavez was 7-3 and failed to qualify. Only one team in the whole SJAA had a losing record last year, but only the league champion (Edison) made the playoffs.

The Cal Preps component added to At Large bids has really flipped the way a schedule must be built. Teams in weak leagues MUST schedule tough pre-league opponents AND compete well against them. Wins alone are not the only factor.

Based on the projection, doesn't look like Enochs winning would be much of an upset. I'd cal 22-21 a pick em game

True enough. "Upset" is not the correct word.

That's how close the difference is for those three teams fighting for the #12 spot. Enochs could beat the current #12 (Gregori) and still end up on the outside looking in if Franklin blows out Sheldon.
