Salinas has a QB issue. Very green and needs a year. Offense is one dimensional now. Palma has lots of depth this year. The soph QB is going to be an eye opener in next couple years. He’s a legit 2 way player and needs experience but going to be very good. Line and skill lots of depth. I think Hollister will beat Salinas this year. Offense much more balanced and physical line. Salinas offense will have tough time with both Palma and Hollister. Palma jr 6-6 240lb jr TE/DE/DT Joe Finley had a really good game on both sides. In another year he will be legit D1 prospect. Fresno and PAC 12 teams have him on radar. KC is better but Palma will be much more physical. Carmel was expected to be down from last season especially on lines. Palma and Hollister will be the game to see. They scrimmaged and Hollister mover the ball and Palma did as well. Palma had a couple more big pass plays. Salinas D will keep them in games but they aren’t close to as good as last season. Hollister may be better and Palma is way more physical, although more RB by committee with good Hs rbs but not D1 like last two RBs. Soph rb with high upside broke leg in practice and is out although Eva they have know are quick and run well behind a very good online.
My guess is Palma will play hard and if a mismatch will turn things down at half. They have been playing everyone at least in last game. Seems Palma is almost more interested in getting playing time for all their players. If it gets to a large spread Palma will probably turn things down and the score won't be embarrassing. Now against Salinas and Hollister, they will be up for the game as always rivals and bragging rights. Both Salinas and Hollister will be up for Palma. I will watch both. I was impressed with Hollister's balanced approach on offense with the spread and lines seemed physical on both sides. Hollister always plays good defense against the run and they seemed to shore up the passing defense which has had some issues the last couple years. QB can really wing it and they have good Wrs and RBs. Looks like they put in the work on the passing offense in the off season. After watching some video of the KC/ Carmel Game I now understand why that score was the way it was. I am guessing King City has improved over recent years, but Carmel really struggled in that game on both sides of the ball - no where near the fire power they had in recent years. this should be a tough match up for KC with Palma stinging a bit from last weekend and KC maybe rolling in a bit over confident after their win over Carmel.
Really looking forward to that Game on April 16! should be a good one.
You need to pull oak ridge out of the top 20 streak. When lamson left for Syracuse that changed things greatly. Tack on other injuries and this strange year and you have a very average oak ridge team. Future looks good with young QB but it will take time to develop. They
I have to say that one of the little "salt in the wound" moments that Covid has caused is the wrecking of any chance of there being a re-match of that D1 championship game. With Lamson coming back for OR and Brown coming back for MT, there was a chance that two of the most dynamic players in the SJS would meet up again in the post-season. I know in the grand scheme of the horribleness of the last year, this is an incredibly small and insignificant loss, but it's just one more thing representing a million more little things that has sapped the little joys out of life. You need to pull oak ridge out of the top 20 streak.
