When tiger Woods burst on the scene, no one complained about his race. When the first round leader was a white guy, and all the press wanted to talk about was Tiger no one complained. Because the ratings went up and everyone made more money.

Sometimes a person captures the nations fancy, They are not always the best , but the public loves them. Witness Steph curry. Jack Nicholas was better than Arnie Palmer but everyone loved Arnie. Arnie increased viewership for all pro golfers. why complain?
what was the curry reference?

I think it more has to do with style of play. It is hard for a post player to capture the attention of the public (Shaq being an exception becuase of how dominant he was and his personality). But in mens and womens basketball, the player who can dribble and shoot at an elite level usually becomes the most marketable.

DLS Heading to London!!?!!!

Cons:
-Extra game sandwiched between two important league games.

I will have to triple check DLS’s league record the past 20-25 years to see, but don’t seem to recall league games being to much of an issue for the Spartans in that span (and EC is non-league to boot).

-Potential for injury
Because there is no chance of injury in a game played in U.S. soil? It magically increases when you cross the pond?
-Loss could affect its CIF standing. Even if they say it won’t, a loss is a loss to some people voting.
What CIF standing will this effect and what vote?
-Nike paying for everything, but there will def. Be some unexpected costs that come along with traveling with this many people, and how many families will want to come along on the trip?
Valid point.
Overall cool idea, but I think they should have had one of the Florida or Baltimore schools be the guinea pig for this trip, as the trip would be 6 hours less each way for those FL, MD teams.
Florida? They have already played Lakeland and STA. Baltimore? Outside SFA that is like playing a Nevada school not named the Bishop, why bother?

New SJS non-contact rule

First, you could rat someone out, but then you'd have to have proof. A video from your phone with date stamp? But couldn't that be forged?

I guess the coach would be suspended, but for how long?

And if you go to the games and sit in the stands, does that count? I've seen coaches in similar situations be two rows up from the team and talk to whoever's coaching througout the game.

Just a dumb idea ...

DLS Heading to London!!?!!!

Don't disagree with your Pros but do disagree to some degree with your CONS:
1). "sandwiched between two important league games".........My understanding is the game before London departure is El Cerrito, a non League game. The game following their return, not sure because I have yet to see the second half of their schedule.
2). "Potential for injury" ......Unless someone falls out of the plane in transit, I don't see any greater possibility of increased injuries than what a team normally experiences in a regular season game.
3). "Loss could affect CIF standing".......Every November posters fill up posts on this site regarding underserved, unfair standings. Who knows what goes on at the post season playoff assignments.....Ouiji Board Sessions ?, Late night Beer Pong selection sessions, Rock, Paper, Scissor stamp offs, or just all night number crunching piles of season game stats.
4) "Nike paying everything".....Yes, mucho gracias Nike, True many families will want to come along, just as they have in previous OOS Games. Not to be cavalier but the parents are resourceful and will prove that "where there's a Will, there's a Way'
5). "... schools be the guinea pig for this trip" There has al ready been a guinea pig. A High School from Brooklyn has made the swim across the Pond to London and as I understand it Coach Alumbaugh and AD Leo Lopoz have been in contact with their counterparts in Brooklyn, especially before they pulled the trigger to make this trip.

I am wondering if it's Thomas Jefferson High School. Coach Moe Finkelstein was a legendery Coach there. I went there in the early sixties. Coach moe would not mind slaping the snot out of you, if you got funny with him.

Here's wishing you great football

DLS Heading to London!!?!!!

Pros:
-Get to experience a new country
-Expand the De La Salle Brand
-Maybe recruit some of the guys you are playing against?
-Maybe some lower end kids get PT and earn a scholarship to one of the European colleges. I believe some are starting American Football programs.

Cons:
-Extra game sandwiched between two important league games.
-Potential for injury
-Loss could affect its CIF standing. Even if they say it won’t, a loss is a loss to some people voting.

Yeah, tall order. Casa has really been hit hard by injuries all year and been a bit inconsistent. I would guess Mercado will be throwing against the Dons. Obviously would’ve been a much different team with Steeves healthy.
It’s going to be a great game!…. Mercado is a really good pitcher…. Acalanes will have their hands full!, they are a well coached, senior led team, it will be a battle!….

DLS Heading to London!!?!!!

The CIF allowing a member school to participate in an NFL sanctioned showcase is very different than IMG. The existence of IMG is for no rules or governing body. The NFL would be the governing body in this particular case.

Although, CIF's treatment with transfers and the emergence of MD/SJB as of late begs for an argument that CIF isn't necessarily a governing body either. So...

I don't believe it will is solely that. Diana Taurasi, Stewey, Sabrina and so many other White American ballers have been balling for years in the WNBA and college. This started when Angel gave Caitlyn some of her own energy back. The people with a more sinister agenda look at those as racial battles and when Angel mocked Caitlyn that gave the people with a biased view and sinister agenda to dig in. It always looks bad when the Black scary person does it to the All American White person especially women.

I've been tooting the horn about Caitlyn since she got to Iowa but she didn't really go over publicly until she started Mocking South Carolina. And that was in porn taste at that. The "you can't see me" mockery was felt as an attack on Black Culture because hip hop is Black culture. Just because Hip Hop caught on globally doesn't negate that Blacks created it. But That is what took Caitlyn over. So Caitlyn

kinda got thrown in a battle she didn't ask for. I don't think she understood the disrespect we felt when she started doing the "you can't see me" mockery. I think she is a good person but unfortunately others have agendas
I agree, but Clark was already getting way more media exposure than those others prior to the LSU game. That just helped put it over the top.

But the media coverage is exponentially greater than when Sabrina or Kelsey were similarly dominating in college just a few years ago. And they are both the same race as Clark.
My previous post should actually have been addressed to you. But make no mistakes. Clark is a awesome. I've been talking highly of her since she got to college. But see my response above.

Yeah pretty amazing feat. Agreed. Very good duo. Both will do well at the next level.
Would love to see Casa get by Acalanes but that won't be easy.

Juju can't enter the draft next year. The WNBA only allows graduates or 22-year-olds top be drafted.

The V's will practice at the old Warriors' facility in Oakland, which they don't use any more. They practice at Chase.
Im sure this rule will change in the near future. I was the same thing in the NWSL until Olivia Moultourie went to court and had the rule changed. while the women don't make a ton of money, it would certainly could change the landscape when it happens.
