Some people may have already seen this, but it’s a sad commentary on parental behavior at youth sporting events. At a game involving 7 year olds at an elementary school in Colorado, parents disputing a call of the 13 year old umpire escalated into a brawl.

If we think parents of high schoolers can be tough now, look what may be coming down the pipe

Kudos to the 13 yr old ump named in a follow up. Once he heard the magic word toward him emanating from the stands he put both benches on notice with the proverbial “next time someone’s gone.” He thought “that’d put a stop to it.” Boy, did he underestimate the stupidity of some adults; check that, OVERestimate that rationality would rise.

It wouldn’t happen in high school. Adult umpires + immediate consequences prevail. The idiot fan was clearly bullying the youth ump.

Evidently the incident was precipitated by one of the players hitting out of order in the line-up, which makes the brawl all that more ridiculous. A news update said police were investigating and looking for the dude in the white t-shirt who threw numerous blows including sucker-punching and knocking out the one person who was taken to a local hospital.

It sucks that anytime anything involving a youth baseball game makes news it's called "Little League", if not by the reporter, then by the headline writer.

This was not Little League. It was a local rec league.

It’s like saying Novocaine....nobody uses it anymore but know whatever it is, “make sure it works.”

It’s youth sports’ microcosm. Over the top parents. Pathetic.
