Funny... Just a few minutes ago, I was wondering where all the promo for this showcase was... Good to see it... This looks even better than it did when first posted; nearly every team is living up to the reputation, even the ones with a number of losses are doing just fine (with one exception).

I’m all over this showcase tomorrow...

As I threatened, errrr promised... I am here for the duration, across from the visitors bench.

First game is Weston Ranch v. Moreau Catholic.

WR’s struggles have been well-chronicled on this forum, but Moreau has been a bit under-the-raidar.

Both teams started rather slowly this season, but have gotten rolling in their last half-dozen games or so.

Can’t say I have a clue what WR has begun to make click, but a 6’7” forward named Daunt Johnson appears to have been a gigantic factor in Moreau’s rise.. He has played in just their last few games (eligibility or something? Dunno), but he has been cleaning up on the glass with a vengeance. How does 16 rpg sound?

15-7 WR at the end of the 1st...

Mison Coilton has been strong for the Ranch... A pair of 3’s and several other nice plays...

WR builds the lead to 21-9, but Moreau with a steal and dunk to make it 21-11. And the take a charge... Moreau may be ready to battle back here...

Moreau takes yet another charge... get it downcourt and score... 21-13. Exchange of buckets, time out. 23-15 WR. 4:51 left.

Moreau’s new rebounder guy (Johnson) can certainly get off the floor... He just goaltended, but it was so high the refs couldn’t believe it and didn’t blow the whistle :)

Intensity is picking wayyyy up... but WR still clings to a 29-21 lead. 1:52 left in the half.

Right now, Moreau can’t hit the broad side of a barn... They cause turnovers, then fire up bricks... 41-31. Or in the case of what just happened, WR gives it to ‘em... Now it’s 41-33 after a couple FT’s.

65-53 final.. WR gets the win. Not the prettiest game ever, but it does appear that WR has cut down (a little) on the unforced errors that plagued them badly early in the season.

Early n the Capital Christian-Riverside Poly game...

Poly, giving up a good bit in the size dep’t. But they are looking fast.... 7-5 Poly, 4:20 left 1st. Now 10-8.. 3:40 left...

Internet being squirrelly... Sorry if posts looking strange the last few minutes.

5:46 left 2nd... CC scores inside... 20-17.

Another inside score for CC... 22-17.

3 for CC.. 25-17...

Poly having a bit of trouble with CC’s size...

VERY pretty CC fast break, hoop and harm. 27-17, but FT missed.

CC showing no signs of tired legs after that super-tough Sheldon game 40-ish hours ago.

Nice spin move by Poly, but CC answers... 29-19.

CC looking very sharp, nice 4-pass play to short J... 31-19.

And that’s the half... Poly needs to regroup... Making some shots would help. :)

CC’s game game is def. on-point today... 37-21. Make it 40-21. Finally Poly gets something to fall... 40-23.

52-31 now... 6:15 left. CC looked great for about 3 quarters in the Sheldon game before the Sheldon depth came down on them, but Poly ain’t Sheldon, and it’s showing.52-33 halfway thru the 4th.

Sweet drive and layup by Lamont Butler of Poly... He’s headed to SDSU next year.

60-43 final....

Now on the floor... Damien of SoCal vs. SPSV.

D. Jackson was nowhere to be seen at SPSV’s last game,. But they appear to have the services of the Big Guy tonight... Well, at least in uni doing warmup drills...

Damien opens up a quick 5-0 lead...

D Jackson putback for SPSV’s first score. And a dunk for their 2nd... but now it’s 7-4. SPSV Steal and layup, 7-6...

Jalen Scott gets in the book for SPSV... 11-9, but Damien gets a 3 also. 12-11 Damien. 2:40 left. Make it 15-11... Jalen Scott 3. Damien 3... 15-14.. Damien scores, 16-15 Damien... Wow, I can’t even stay close to caught up today... 20-18 Damien, SPSV with final shot try for the 1st... And big Dishon is successful with a buzzer putback. 20-1 all after 8 minutes.

Damien with a nice lob pass for 2, but J Scott makes a 3... Damien scores inside, hacked...FT miss, Damien gets it back and drives, no go but fouled... FT’s split. 27-25 Damien.

Dishon scores inside...

27-all. 5:36 left in the half.

Damien scores inside... 29-27 Damien.

Damien for 3... 32-27...

SPSV short J. 32-29.

Drive inside, scores past/over Dishon... Dishon scores inside... 34-31.

Jackson SWATS it... Spsv gets back within 1 on a layup... and takes the lead on a driving floater.. 35-34, 2:35 left in the half.

Alley-oop dunk by SPSV, Jason Alexander on the receiving end... 37-36 SPSV.

After a stop, they get it inside to Jackson where he’s fould... 0 for 4 from the line for the big guy..

Damien drives baseline and scores a twisting layup just ahead of the buzzer! 38-37 Damien at the half... Looking like a down-to-the-wire battle in this one...

Had time out to munch out... 45-40 Damien now, halfway thru the 3rd. Damien 3... 48-40.

Damien steal and runout... , a Damien stop, nother runout... 52-40. This game can turn quick...

54-40 now after yet another steal and runout... Time out SPSV, leaking oil all over the track...

Dishon sinks a hook shot with a couple seconds left, and quarter ends 54-44, Damien in front.
