Interesting GoFan thing...
It wasn't listed that way when I looked this morning... It said f/jv/v.

Only 2 WCAL teams can claim a WCAL title this decade. But I get it, time to put up or shut up.here is data.
the next championship riordan wins this decade will be the first.
because they have zero.
in the famous words of that grizzlies coach. take that for data.
el cerrito does not use go fan and the thursday ticket you see is for a fresh man game.Calpreps and Maxpreps have DLS playing at El Cerrito on the 27th,,,
But, according to GoFan, El Cerrito has no listing for that Friday and DLS is listed as play Sacramento Charter on Thursday and also no Friday game.
Hmmmmm....
here is data.Let me clarify something on the front in,…you are “Not like Me”. So the Bro verbiage, you can put a hold on😎
Do you have the numerical data of on campus vs off campuses that correlates to championships and to support your opinion, or are we making absolute statements? Or are you just trying to be an agent of argument,… which I suggest may be your agenda. Either way that is not debate,..
newman cannot beat anyone that outclasses them in the speed department. almost every team i mentioned qualifies in this category. the other teams i mentioned are teams that can/would/will beat new man at there own game. i do not mean this as disrespect towards how good they are…..for a d 4 team.I disagree…sorta. CN is that good. I’ve played/watched a ton of football and these guys are real. My grandson is a sophomore/starting DT at BOD and he held his own out there, but he said these are some of the best guys he’s played against…ever. He’s been playing high level football for 10 years.
These CN young men have been playing together for years. I remember several of them from the Redwood PAL Golden Bears youth football league. They’ve been beating the brakes off of teams for a while.
They remind me of the mid-80s Skyline High School squads that had Brian Johnson (Stanford/Detroit Tigers) at QB. Simple plays but great execution, big active line, speed at the skilled positions, and a few D1 guys. The OAL didn’t go to the NCS playoffs back then at the end of the season. But their ‘84 squad beat DLS and went undefeated.
They are def an Open team in NCS, unfortunately. This is where I agree with you. I don’t think they can compete vs a DLS, SRV, Pitt (or a SM Rams, Serra, St. Francis, etc.).
I disagree with the rest of your list. They are going to beat MC this year. They should beat Windsor. But Las Lomas (that was random) and Acalanes? No match.
I have a ton of family and friends at EC. A game against them or Cal would be interesting.
Who you got?
Week 1 - WCAL
Friday, Sept 27th
Saturday, Sept 28th
- Serra @ St. Ignatius 35-17
- Bellarmine @ St. Francis 42-7
- Sacred Heart Cathedral @ Archbishop Riordan 49-14
- Archbishop Mitty @ Valley Christian 28-14
I could be shorting them. Again, they are very good. Maybe they can hang with the top NorCal programs this season. Spoke with a few of their parents and backers. They all said “this is their year.”Yeah, I think they opened up some eyes. Like @northbaybbguru said... Sanchez has never had a great QB. Cronin had D1 Qb's for about a decade in a row. It has been the tougher position to fill at newman but Sanchez has one now. Newman's biggest weakness is there overall roster size. These true Open and D1 schools go 50-55+ and the backup kids are very good. Newman is thin just a function of there school size. They probably have 35-37 on roster with lots of 2 way guys. Newman's best teams always could play with St Mary's of Stockton. In fact I recall newman great Jordan Brookshire getting stopped on a goal line stand by rams at Newman to end the game. I have no doubt Newman can play with St Mary's. DLS and Pitt would be a very tall order but St Mary's nearly knocked off DLS..... Lots of season left and we still need to get by a few good schools. Pleasant Valley of Chico will be good. I'm not looking past them but overall outlook is bright.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Salesian is the next school to board students. And if I am not mistaken my alum SHC has one brother left, might be 2, but pretty sure it is one in the brothers house. Salesians house is in Berkeley. The closure of Mercy-SF gave Riordan the go-ahead to become a coed outfit. The move has gone a very long way toward saving the school, along with the boarding component which generates big excess dollars that can be used for the school's operations. The plan is working.

one school out of thousands, that does not win championships in any sport, does not an example make. bro.I challenge that Paradigm, the Varsity coaches at TheR are a mixture of on campus and off campus,…the right person is More Important🏐🏀🏈😎

in no particular order
de la salle
pittsburg
el cerrito (guarantee they would beat new man head to head)
san ramon valley
marine catholic (will beat them head to head mark my words)
california
acalanes
las lomas (don’t believe me watch there qb he’s the next superstar bay area qb)
windsor (completely unstoppable run game)
and that’s just off the top of my head. teams like liberty and clayton valley might be better too though i would also hold off on them until they beat a real team. gotta to have a consistent “standard”
Successful Head Coaches are almost always on campus teachers. They actually become part of the campus community and they know how to coach (teach!). Which are sadly becoming more rare in the Bay Area but still relatively coming in Sac/Valley.yes they are i was just pointing out that mack clymonds beat them because that guy said they were 0-3.
speaking about o dowd - hopefully one day these schools learn that hiring a “coach” with no resume simply because they played in the nfl is a guaranteed way to ensure that your program will absolutely suck for at least 5 years. it never works. looking at you too dublin saint marys berkeley etc cetera.
Sorry you lost me with the “mint” out the gate. Just wow. Enroll mint, endow mint, mint chocolate chip, thin mints, now follow this next one, pepper mint moist and plump patties. You know the super size two for a dollar ones at the corner store across from the US mint. Please confirm if you are a alum of any Catholic school, cause that school should immediteMINT shut the hell downyes I know who goes to the school. do you know how the school got the profile it got or how it got the large enroll mint and endow mint in the first place? how the school grew from nothing to the largest boys school in the reason? what got the school to the point where it has a years long waiting list?
hint - it wasn’t robots. like I said. get rid of robots and bellarmine continues on being the excellent school it is. get rid of sports and the school closes its doors withing 5 years.
sports do much more to raise a schools profile then robots. deal with it.
The class is one of the more talented I’ve seen in the last few years. So many great QBs. The wr group is DEEP WITH quality linemen. That he is! Made a lot of big plays tonight.
This is turning out to be a pretty good class.
Saint Mary’s only plays 7 seniors and is getting better by the week. Will be a very hard out in the playoffsit most certainly did not! as i said last night i need to man up eat some CROW take some accountability and say I WAS STRAIGHT UP WRONG. saint marys came to play and there a great team.
