CCS Open (as things stand)

Will the 8th place team in the CCS Open still go to DI in Norcals?

3-7 CCS ok...thats 5
3- ? NCS ..6 teams Id think right?
and then 5 from SJS....

AND possibly Clovis from the south...

I'm thinking #8 in the CCS may get a D2 norcal bid...

You left out a few D1 "bid stealers"

Pleasant Valley from the Northern Section
Central from Central
Carruthers from Central
Oakland Tech from Oakland

NCS open-division 3 seedings

Its playoff time!!!

Anyone can win, especially with this new NCS Playoff format (Maxpreps bing the final arbiter of brackets)

In the Open Division
I think its pretty much locked in DLS, SRV, Salesian, Dublin, DV and Liberty
The only issue I foresee is Who should be #2 (if they go by Maxpreps only) then its SRV, but Salesian has the head to head at Gridley. As we learned last playoffs head to head wins mean nothing to the committee. (See last years D2 NCS seeding)

In Division One
I think Cal has locked it and deserves the #1 Seed. They have played a tough pre-season and have a really tough league which did pretty well in. I think Redwood with the win over Moreau should be the #2 seed. I would be very weary of drawing Amador Valley, Alameda or CVC is this bracket. This one will be a complete dogfight!

In Division Two
I think Moreau has locked in the #1 Seed. They have played a pretty tough preseason schedule (minus the blowouts in Hawaii) and easily handled their league as usual. Cardinal Newman should be the #2 seed and they have been playing pretty good as of late! Earlier this year I had St. Mary's Berkeley at the #2 seed, but with their loses in league to Albany and Bethel I have them on the 3 line (btw Moreau, Newman and SMB are all D4 so I think with the way the rules are set up now they will all qualify for Nor-Cals no matter how they finish)

In Division Three
I think Branson is the #1 Seed. Pedigree and history of program plus losing top player and still competing at a high level (almost beat Redwood) gives them the nod. I have Cornerstone as the #2 seed barely edging SJND and San Domenico.

Im curious to how this all pans out.
H2H in the OPEN in football came into play.

Marin Catholic beat CN in league.
CN was 4 in MP while MC was the 5 and they filp flopped them in the OPEN seedings (and rightfully so).

CCS Open (as things stand)

Agree. But the CCS poobahs seem fixated on an eight-team Open bracket. Forcing Los Gatos (or another public) into the Open really hurts them at the NorCal seeding meeting. The Open status is actually bogus but it gives the NorCal seeding committee the impetus to place them in Division I. Not helpful.

WCAL 2-11-25

Mitty 71 Riordan 50
Was just an eight point game at the half and felt closer. Riordan is long and athletic and got easy buckets inside. But Mitty blew it open in the third with a 21-0 run aided by what I thought were some friendly whistles. Don't have the stats, but Tee McCarthy played her best game in a while. Mitty wins its 101st straight league game and locks up another league title.

St. Ignatius 50 St. Francis 45
Wildcats length and offensive rebounds were the difference. Teams split on the season, each winning at home. SI is now tied with Riordan for second place behind Mitty and the teams play each other in the final league game next week.

Sacred Heart Cathedral 49 Valley Christian 44
For a moment, at least, the Irish have righted themselves. Win probably gets them the 7 seed in CCS to avoid another Mitty matchup.

Bell livestream

Watching the Bellarmine vs. Serra livestream from Bellarmine. What a mess this deal is ... it's like an impaired freshman is producing it. Camera angles changing when the ball is in the air, close-ups of the Bell cheering section in the middle of play, etc. Would rather have an NFHS feed. Maybe the second half will be an improvement.

Kiddman if your Jonesing

MY winner is Campo (duh), but I doubt that's what you're asking for.

what you're asking for, I dunno. Any of these teams can beat any of the others. Will be a dogfight...

So far as cal high or redwood, no idea... Although Redwood whipped Campo in a November scrimmage at their place... I bet that wasn't truly representative of either team as they are now...

CCS Open (as things stand)

Los Gatos is a good. Sara Quilici Giles leaned over the scorer's table in the second half and said "This doesn't seem like a 30-point game -- or is it just me?"

And no, it didn't feel that way. Junior Sophia Ross went off for Carondelet with eight threes and 39 points, which skewed that margin, but overall Los Gatos didn't look out of place.

That said, CCS should let the privates be privates and go to war with each other.
