Windsor High School has a few Varsity spots and 1 JV spot open in our 7th Annual Sonoma County Shootout. Unlike other summer tournaments, we feature stopped clock halves (16 minutes for varsity and 14 minutes for JV) and the shot clock. This year's dates are June 26-28, 5 game guarantee for Varsity and 3 game guarantee for JV. Games played at Windsor High School and Windsor Middle School (5 minutes apart), high school teams only. So it's May 1, and we're at 32 teams already. We will not take more than 128, and last year, some latecomers got lucky getting in because of the inevitable teams dropping out.

On the one hand, as Dave Jackson always wanted, it would be great to let everyone in and have the tournament be as big as needed, but the reality is that the very limited staff we have isn't really capable of handling the administration of a tournament with 144 teams. (In fact, I'd say we're pretty stretched to handle 128.)

So if you want to play in the 2015 Jamboree (Dec. 28-30), you might want to get your application in a little earlier than in years' past, just to make sure.

El Cerrito/Oakland Soldiers wing Carlos Johnson has added offers from UC Santa Barbara and Arkansas State this week.

UC Davis is the first offer for 2016 St. Francis/Lakeshow post Peter Hewitt. He played well last weekend in Oakland.

Modesto Christian/Oakland Soldiers 2016 post Robinson Idehen has picked up offers from UC Santa Barbara and San Diego.

2016 Valley Christian/Cal Stars forward Nina Bessolo committed to UC Davis after picking up an offer after Boo Williams.

Good pickup for the Aggies in getting Bessolo, who showed good development during her junior year.

Because he stayed home to be the face of the program and is the highest rated recruit that California has landed in some time, there will undoubtedly be pressure and perhaps inflated expectations. However, he has a great attitude, is a worker and his productivity on the offensive glass combined with his ambidextrous scoring make him a pretty safe bet to be live up to his ranking.

Joe DeMers of College Park is featured in this week's Sports Illustrated Faces In The Crowd section, highlighting his perfect game against Monte Vista earlier this season, and his 2 other no-hitters against Concord and Northgate. All 3 were home games.

He pitched at home again for the 4th time yesterday, and had a 4th no-hitter broken up with 2 outs in the 7th inning. He struck out 10 with no walks and hit a 3-run homer to aid his own cause, as if he needed it. He is now 9-0 with a microscopic ERA.

Looks like Erick Raich has nice visions of restoring some baseball dignity to De Anza. They surely suffered under some of the past regimes and due to the "incident" - allegations of rape.

After a racist rant caught on video after a game against St Marys this week went viral. Northridge rescinded the baseball scholarship. Lesson learned for young people that you better keep your emotions in check. Poof there goes 100,000 out the door.

Anyone know of good weekly passing leagues in NorCal? Or any one day events?

Phillip Tran is a rising Junior that threw for over 2k yards last season for Fremont. 6'2" 200+ with tools. Should be a pretty big jump in competition from SCAL El Camino to WCAL but the kid is pretty good and has D1 attention already
