Congratulations Bishop O'Dowd

Division III: Vanden (30-3) vs. Bishop O'Dowd (23-9)[/B]

This is the best section final outside of the Open Division game with college prospects on both sides. Vanden was on the cusp of the Open Division, but now the Vikings have a better shot at winning its first regional title. The Dragons struggled early, but played better in the second half of the year. Asha Thomas (Cal) returned late in the regular season, but Bishop O'Dowd still lost to Miramonte in the section finals

For Vanden, there is a balanced three in scoring with senior Julia Blackshell-Fair. Seniors Chantel Greer and Toni Taylor round out a strong top five.

Along with Thomas, Bishop O'Dowd boasts Myah Pace and junior Aerial Chavarin, who had a big impact in the paint against Miramonte.

The key for Vanden is handling O'Dowd in the paint while O'Dowd will have to match up with the perimeter size of Vanden. The Vikings have been on a roll this postseason and it continues on Saturday. Champion: Vanden

Serra is struggling: Padres have three runs on nine hits in 0-2 start

The glow from the Serra baseball team's start to the 2015 campaign is quickly wearing off. The Padres opened the season with a 5-1 mark in non-league play, beating the likes of East Bay powers De La Salle, James Logan and San Ramon Valley. [/I]This week, the Padres started West Catholic Athletic League play, dropping a tough 2-1 decision to Mitty Wednesday. [/I]The Padres had a chance to get into the WCAL win column Friday, when they hosted St. Francis.[/I]
Suddenly, Serra finds itself in a 0-2 hole in WCAL play after the Lancers recorded a 5-2 victory. "[All league games are] important. We can't sit here and dwell on it," said Serra manager Craig Gianinno. "We have to look to [Saturday]." [/I]Awaiting Serra (0-2 WCAL, 5-3 overall) Saturday? A road trip to San Jose to take on 8-1 Valley Christian. [/I]The Padres are going to need to solve their problems with their bats quickly if they are going to compete for the WCAL title. In their last two games, the Padres have collected a total of nine hits.[/I]

SMDJ

Contradiction

Jazz you are contradicting yourself. Or is it just because you do not like Mater Dei. You say KLS was being beat up and then you complain about her getting some calls. You can't have it both ways. Players cannot impede the progress of a player or beat another player just because she is good. A foul is a foul. You were right about one thing KLS was getting beat up and she should have actually gotten a lot more calls and Chaminade players should have fouled out earlier. There were many fouls called in that game but not for KLS. Even the last call that fouled out a Chaminade player took about 3 fouls before the dude had the balls to call it, she made the shot, strong move to the basket while being hacked. Great players come up big and thats what she did. You sound like the whiny Chaminade parents complaining because they lost.

Just wait when these kids on Chaminade get to college they won't be able to stay on the floor, the physicality/ beating up of a player is actually a flagrant, especially when you hit someone in the head. Look at how many fouls Gray and Boyd pick up as they haven't learned to keep their hands off players and play solid defense.

But keep reading the idiots on the SoCal board, as that is what they are. The board has been rife with jealous posters for years. They ripped on KML and many others . Maybe you want this board to turn into that one. With idiots slamming kids, parents, coaches and programs just because they are jealous.

#1 SMS vs #2 MM NORCALS FINEST

Clash of the Norcal Titans: The two top coaches in Norcal square off:

We have SMS coach in the Norcal Open finals for the second time in three years (very impressive). We have the MM coach ready to eliminate SMS for the second straight year from the Open and also in the Norcal Open finals for the second straight year (what a feat).

Lots of pressure on the favorite SMS coach to get the win. Almost no pressure on MM coach if they lose as SMS is on paper (#1 in the state, #2 #3 in the nation) is a heavy favorite. But MM mentally, like SHC believes they can win.

With the win SMS coach will be in prime position to be the second Norcal coach to win the Open crown in three years. But if the MM coach wins he will be the man of Norcal to pull the upset and the possible rematch vs MD for CA supremacy.

Dream scenario- SMS wins Norcal finals, Open title and finishes #1 in the nation. (For MM) MM upsets SMS in Norcal final, beats MD for Open title Kelly goes on into the summer with Cal-Stars and wins the NIKE EYBL Nationals and proves he is the new king of girls hs basketball.

Nightmare scenario- SMS loses will be 0-3 for Open titles and 0-2 in Norcal Open finals. MM loses will be 0-3 for Open titles and 0-2 in Norcal Open finals.

One coach will win the Norcal Open finals for the first time. Who will that be?

Mitty-Sac

Mitty up 45-33 with two minutes left. Young has four fouls and he and Terrell are having bad games.....Terrell was 1-of-9 at the half. Big Ben has 20 for Mitty and they just look more sold overall with fewer errors than Sac. Soph guard Hines has a great stroke for Sac, but no one else is doing anything.

St. Francis - SHC

St. Francis wins 5-0. Lancers scored a single run in the third after a ground rule double and an overthrow by the catcher at third base allowed the runner from third to score.

Lancers scored 4 in the fourth inning after a ground rule double and (I think) a balk that I missed where the runner went to third base. With two out a fly ball to left field was caught in foul ground but apparently the umpire said it was out of play. Coach Brian Morgan disputed it twice during the game, otherwise it's a no-run inning. Of course, the next pitch resulted in an RBI ground ball up the middle, another base hit to center and a Texas-league hit scored some more.

Irish had some good pitching from Diego Gonzalez and from Ramiro Gonzalez who took over in the sixth. SHC didn't have a multiple-hit inning until the 7th.

These guys need to make some noise during the game. I've seen us win games after the players rally.
