Bay Area Warriors 17U and 16U Tryouts this Wknd

The Bay Area Warriors will be having our first workouts this Sunday morning in San Francisco for the 2015 Spring and Summer Season. We will be playing in both NCAA Sanctioned events in April and all three in July as well as some other local tourneys. In the last 10 years we have had 15 players from our program move on the D1 level and many others move on to the D2, D3, NAIA and JuCo levels. We strive to run a program that helps players get better and have fun. See more info on our website. If you are interested please contact me to find out the exact time and location on Sunday.

Cardinal Newman

Excuse me. I need some help here. Just happened to watch CN vs. Notre Dame (Belmont) on Saturday. Good heavens, how does CN lose? Not that NDB is special. They aren't. But CN appears to be loaded with talent. They trotted out a starting lineup featuring a pair of strong posts, 6-1 and 6-3, and three very good guards. Off the bench, well, how about a 6-4 post and more good guards. Geez, CN (the old Ursuline program) looks like the real deal. Unless my radar is defective. Which is entirely possible. Please, some perspective.

Sierra-Archbishop Riordan

This stage of Norcals are great as many teams have not played each other before. This is true for this Saturday's matchup with host Sierra and Archbishop Riordan.
Frankly, I have never heard of this school, but understand Sierra is a very good team team this year coming in to Saturday night with 29 wins. Can anyone provide some background of this team? How big is their gym? Should fans get there early? Looks like the Crusaders come in as considerable underdogs. Should be a great game!

Marquese Chris

Just came back from SRV knocking out PG, this was my first time seeing Marquese this year & it was disappointing to say the least. I don't know what goes on off the court but he had such a arrogant attitude... He didn't go even 70% in the first half & then started playing harder in the second half. When the game was over with 2 minutes left he then starts complaining about the refs when he was sent to the bench.... And all this is happening in front of Lorenzo Romar(Look on his face was priceless that night)

It just killed me inside witnessing what happened tonight, because the last time I saw the kid was at Pangos All American camp & he seemed to be a humble player who hustled & killed quietly. Marquese could've had 50 and the Win tonight! He has the type of talent in him, but now the season is over. Hopefully all this arrogance goes away in college and he'll pan out well at UW. We'll see what happens.

SRV took advantage and put on a show tonight, had some tip dunks & wild and 1's. The best teams keep moving on.

How will WCAL teams fare in CIF NORCAL?

6 WCAL teams in action in Playoffs: Serra, SF, Mitty, Bells, Riordan & SHC

Open Division:
SF 22-5 vs BOD 24-4
Serra 23-5 vs Moreau Catholic 23-6

St.,Francis seeded #8 draws the unenviable task of having to play the consensus favorite Bishop O'Dowd. I think the game will be competitive, however BOD will have too much talent for the Lancers to overcome. BOD +10 [60-50]

Serra vs MC looks to be a really good game & should be entertaining. Can MC pull away from the Padres or can Serra keep it close in another nail-biter like the Open win over SF? Serra has played their best the last few games & could be in for a let-down, but I think they'll be up for this one. Serra +4 [56-52]

Division 1:
Bells 17-10 vs Freedom 18-10

On paper looks to be a close game with Bells biggest win coming over SF while Freedom had a narrow 2-point loss to MV.
Freedom may be more than the Bells who tied for 4th in WCAL can handle. Freedom +8 [62-54]

Division II:
Mitty has first round bye.

Division III:
Riordan 17-10 vs Albany 28-2
SHC 16-11 vs Vanden 24-6

Riordan should get by the 28-2 Albany team despite the disparity in records. Riordan has beaten SF, Mitty, Bells & SHC while Albany has lost to the only 2 quality teams on its schedule. The difference will be Riordan's D. Riordan +8 [52-44]

SHC beat Vanden early in the season by 65-57 which may or may not be relavant at this point. SHC has had the tougher schedule and has quality wins over Serra, Bells & Riordan while Vanden's 6 losses were all to the 6 quality teams it faced this season [so not a clutch team so to speak]. Odds are against Vanden as SHP repeats the win. SHC +3 [57-54]

ANOTHER SF 49ER ARRESTED

Not a very good Monday for the 49ers.

Frank Gore to sign with the Eagles or Baltimore
Mike Lupati to sign with the ARZ Cardinals

Justin Smith to retire
Patrick Willis to retire

Baalke trying to deny Kaepernick trade rumors.....

******************
The Ravens Torrey Smith due to sign with SF 49ers and they just signed a guy out of football with a criminal record. (again)

Jed, in Cuba, did not know Baalke signed the guy.

Bruce Miller

Sutter, 5th longest win streak in Nation

According to the local rag, dating back to last year, Sutter has the 5th longest winning streak in the nation at 27 games. They are vying for a Northern Section 4 Peat. They are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Colfax and a very good Witney squad. They head down to Arizona for a tourney next week.

Open Final Four Thoughts

I think most of the board predicted the final four teams would be Stockton, SI, Miramonte & Carondelet and it almost held true. Down the stretch SHC rallied and their strength of schedule got them better when it mattered. Carondelet, probably because of a coaching change to the lessor strength route and it bit them in the end.

It is a great Final Four. I think it also leaves a lot of quality teams in their natural divisions to compete for a title. I would have like to see smb and salesian stay in d4 and maybe Modesto. I think Mitty, Carondelet and Brookside all lost games they should or at least we thought they were going to win, which threw the open seedings off a little bit but we ended with top 4 teams.
