I hear that they are in discussion with Sutter. It is a possibility.

SHP returns Mason at QB and Daschbach at WR and a few others. They should be decent, but tough losing POY.

Who are some of the top teams still looking for games to fill? Palma has a nice schedule.

NorCalSportsfan, Yes Sutter has indeed contacted Palma about playing week 1

. It is not official yet and I was waiting for it to become official before I posted. It could be as early as today. It has not been finalized yet!!! There are a lot of logistics to this due to the travel involved for both programs (2 year deal) ,being it will be for all 3 levels. You can all quit saying Sutter does not schedule good programs. Sutter tried last year to schedule like no Northern Section team has done before. All 5 pre league games were out of section last season with 4 being NCS schools and 1 SJS school. Unfortunately for Sutter only Justin Sienna (Sutter beat 49-0) was able to put together a great season. That being said JS has now declined to continue the series and over break Novato contacted Sutter and opted out of their commitment for next year as well.That actually created this opening. This is Sutter's out of state cycle year so the Bi annual trip to Oregon may still happen. If it does then Sutter's schedule would like like this;

Week 0 El Cerrito NCS
Week 1 Palma CCS
Week 2 Oregon ???
Week 3 Ukiah NCS
Week 4 Ripon SJS Watch out for these guys!!! They are senior loaded and return almost everyone (Sect faves IMO)
Weeks 6-10 League

Already counting the days!!!!!

That's what I was told last night. I knew the logistics was being looked at. I mentioned this matchup last season when Sutter was looking for a game. Palma wasn't open that week with the 2 year Carmel commitment.

Should be a very good game. Palma Srs and Juniors are talented. Line returns half but will need to reload and defense will need to reload in the DBs. They return some very good skill players at QB, RBs, and WRs/TE. If the defense reloads, they should be one of the better teams in CCS next season.

Sutter will be young next year but do have 19-1 JV teams meeting up as Srs and Jrs. They graduate almost the entire offense and a lot of the defense. 13 sophs did get called up for the playoff run and now have a taste of varsity football. They will be baptized by fire to say the least but will be ready to play and will compete. They have big shoes to fill but Sutters motto is" Re load not Rebuild". We shall see. I know Sutter is very excited for this opportunity.

Good job Sutter! The schedule is looking good. That Ukiah game though. I guess you could call it a bye week. If Oregon doesn't work out and another strong SJS team is open Sutter should go that route.

The Ukiah game is our Home side of a 2 year deal. Hard sometimes to find a team willing to Travel. Sutter has done everything but beg both Bear River and a couple other good programs from SJS to play the last couple years and just can't get them to bite. If the Varsity Oregon game goes down week 2 it is possible that the Sutter JVs and Frosh could be playing DLS. The frosh are already scheduled with DLS and DLS has contacted Sutter about a JV game.

If the Oregon game doesn't pan out for week 2, Sutter should consider contacting Mr. Stark from Inderkum as he just posted that his team is open that same week.

That'd be a good matchup for both parties.

Why don't Sutter and Yuba play anymore? Even Sutter and River Valley??? Sutter is 1-2 in the last 3 times they've played yuba and sutter.

Sutter and YC are 2-2. They played a home and home in the early 2000s and Sutter won both then took a year or 2 off and played 2 more times and YC won those 2. Sutter is 3-1 vs RV. Sutter had tried to continue the series with YC but YC declined. In saying that YC did not decline out of fear of playing them but instead because of what the games do to the community. And I truly respect that decision. I will agree that when they do schedule it is a very different feel in the community and a rival that most students and adults can't handle. The RV / Sutter game still gets played at the frosh level but not the higher levels for a lot of the same reasons. These schools are all in a 5 mile radius of one another and really truthfully when you need a massive police presence to play a high school football game it truly is not worth it. I can tell you though that the games are highly competitive and the juices definately get flowing a little more.
In YC and RVs defense the games really make little sense. Them both being 3 times Sutter size and Sutter being a lower division really hurts their chances should they lose. Sutter really is the only winner in the series win or lose.

Thank You Coach!!! And good luck to you also. Sutter always roots for you guys being a fellow Wing T team.

Farmair - You are right about Ripon, they are very well coached and have quite a bit of depth for a smaller school. Should be a good game!

Mshnasty, Our varsity beat em up pretty good last year but we were in no way shape or form expecting to do that to them and realize how many Jrs they had. It was definately a down year for them. They did give the Sutter JVs there only loss of the year with a pick six in the 4th quarter, 22-14. Sutter knows Ripon is going to be nasty this season. And its a long drive to boot.

Definitely a "rebuilding" year last year. They've had some good teams under Johnson, I'd expect them to be back.

The Palma game is a good game for Sutter look forward to seeing how they do. Hopefully you guys don't get an out of state game and get a game going with Inderkum, thats a game I would love to see.

Sutters schedule is now complete and it goes like this;

Week 0 El Cerrito Home

Week 1 Palma Away

Week 2 Marist (OR) Away at University of Oregon

Week 3 Ukiah Home

Week 4 Ripon Away

Week 5 BYE

Week 6-10 League

Looking at Marist, they are a private Catholic school out of Eugene Or. with an enrollment of around 600. They were 9-4 last season and lost in the Semi finals of the Oregon 5A playoffs. They finished #26 in the state of Oregon.
Sutter started in the mid 2000s doing an out of state trip on an every other year basis to allow every varsity team a road trip. They are currently 4-0 on said trips having beat 2 Oregon schools ( Univ of Oregon ), 1 Idaho school ( Kibbe Dome, Univ of Idaho ) and 1 Texas school, Ferris Texas.
Sutter will be road warriors to say the least. All 3 pre season road games are long journeys.
It is now very "POSSIBLE" that due to the varsity only trip to Oregon, De La Salle has contacted Sutter about a JV / Frosh double header on week 2. The JV game would be a re match of last years great frosh game played where Sutter ran out of time on the DLS 3 yard line and lost by 9 I believe. That game could have gone either way and DLS had notified Sutter right away that they wanted to play again.

Thought the schedule was done. Just learned of a possible solid tweak forth coming on Sutters schedule. If it in fact happens it will be the toughest schedule Sutter has ever had.

Here is the new confirmed updated schedule for Sutter's Preseason

Week 0 El Cerrito Home

Week 1 Palma Away

Week 2 Elmira Away Autzen Stadium, University of Oregon
De La Salle JVs and Frosh

Week 3 BYE

Week 4 Ripon Away

Week 5 Bear River Away

Week 6 - 10 League

Got NCS, CCS,and SJS. Pretty cool

Since my previous post a few changes were made.

It was a little tough this year to find games to fit their openings and that is why the schedule is off balance this year. They will be road warriors to say the least. Novato, Justin Sienna and Ukiah all wanted out of their commitments for this upcoming season so we had to scramble a bit. This is probably Sutter's toughest schedule.

Without Kervin, they barely beat doormat Riordan last season 14-7. Their JV's were 3-7, including a 21-15 loss to Riordan and their frosh were 1-6 with a 15-14 win over Hillsdale, so they're in for some long seasons for the near future.
