2024 Bowl Games North vs South

Friday - Day one
In the challenge of the North vs South in the CIF set bowl games, we have six games played Friday.
D1AA was won by Lincoln of the SDS section 28-26 It was a well-matched game with great athletes on both sides of the ball. Pittsburg made a lot of mistakes that might have changed the course of the game. A win for the South.
D2AA was won by Grant in another excellent game 35-28. A win for the North and the SJS section.
D3AA Amador Valley lost to Frontier of the CS section 18-14. A win for the South.
D4AA St. Vincent de Paul beat Highland 25-23 winning for the NCS section and the North.
D5AA was won by Carmel in a dominant fashion 48-7. This was a win for the CCS section and the North. Carmel finishes the season with a 15-0 record.
D7AA was dominated by Moreau Catholic 42-8. This was another win for the NCS section and the North.

Saturday - Day two
There were 9 games competing on Saturday. With a few exceptions, most game results were expected. And as it normally happens, the South dominated the top 5 divisions. Only Grant pulled off a win for the North among divisions D-Open to D2A.

The D-Open was won by SS section's Mater Dei as expected. The score was 37-15. However, DLS performed much better than most people thought was possible against the number one team in the nation. A win for the South.

D1A was won by Edison of Huntington Beach 21-14. Central of Fresno was representing the North. A win for the SS section and the South.

D2A Palos Verdes dominated 55-19. Calpreps predicted a win by Twelve Bridge that did not materialize. A win for SS section and the South.

D3A Vanden won 42-41 in overtime. This was one of the closest games of the 2024 SBG games. A win for the SJS section and the North.

D4A was won convincingly by Sonora 52-34. Another win for the SJS section and the North.

D5A American Canyon won a high scoring games 68-41. A win for the NCS section and the North.

D6AA This was another very close game won in overtime by Arcata 27-21. A victory for the NCS section and the North.

D6A Summerville won 38-21 for the SJS section and the North.

D7A Balboa dominated in its win 55-21. A victory of SFS and the North.

Here are the final tallies for the 2024 SBG games.

CCS 1/1 - Carmel was the only team to represent the CCS section.
CS 1/3 - The CS section won only one game. Two teams represented the South and one team represented the North. The one winning team was a victory for the South.
LAS - No representation in the SBG games.
NCS 4/7 - The NCS section had the second most teams representing in the SBG games after the huge SS section. They came away tied for the most wins with the SJS section.
NS- No representation in the SBG games.
OS- No representation in the SBG games.
SDS 1/3 - Like the CS section, the SDS section won only 1 game out of the three teams competing in the SBG games.
SFS 1/1 - The SFS section has only one slot and they got a solid victory.
SJS 4/5 - The SJS section tied the NCS section for the most wins in the SBG games. However, this section gained the highest percentage of SBG wins with 80% of the teams being victorious.
SS 3/10 - As expected, the SS had the most representative teams in the SBG games. But their performance was one of the worst this year.

Final North vs South tally. This was a very evenly match outcome this year.

And the tally for the entire set of SBG games since 2006, there have been 168 games played. The North had won 95 games and the South won 73 games.

Mater Dei has the been the most dominant winner of the SBG games recently. But they do not have the most total wins. That distinction goes to DLS. Here are teams winning 4 or more SBG games.
