All Bay Area Honors

How do these picks look as opposed to newspapers and individual league picks?

High school sports daily is a student from granada high school. Things that jump out at me are that there are only three first team offensive linemen and five first team defensive linemen. Also, like all east bay Dru Samia not even third team?

Looks like the site owner goes to SRV. Kid seems very interested in sports. Might see him on ESPN down the road.

There was a rumor that Samia left SRV team before the season ended. Sacramento was the destination. Don't know if all the stock drop has any relation but maybe someone should also revisit the OU offer and commitment.

His end if year team rankings make you scratch your head as well...

Oscar Nava, Rancho Cotate signed with Sac St. One of the nastiest DL I've ever seen out of Sonoma County isn't honorable mention?

I have to check some highlights of the first and second team Wr's but I cant see many being better than Flower (Campo) or Taylor Yamanoah (Rancho Cotate). I can see with Flower being a baseball commit that people don't talk about him much regarding football. I just didn't see anyone with his size, speed, hands, ball skills in the Bay. I didn't see anything on his level all season until I saw CC's burners.

Slick- Collin Johnson from Valley Christian is a bigger, faster version of Max and best receiver in Northern California but they don't throw much so no stats. I love the kid from Napa going to Cal next year. Max could play both sports at Cal IMO and touched 88 at an event that we had.

The CC burners, specifically Javon McKinley, were another category. McKinley might be the top receiver in the country next year. Top guys next year in Northern California should be Tagaloa, Asiasi, J Williams, and Parker from Pitt. Would love to hear about others.

There are three guys missing that I'm not sure if I should list their names so I will try to be cryptic- One is a touted OL who has not made any lists and rumored to have moved before the end of the year? Another is a S who is a 2016 and a high 4-star but was outshines by two teammates out in the east contra costa area, and a transfer QB who lit it up the first half of the year and deemed inflight he last half. Talented kids who you would hope figure it out and have success on and off the field.

I have to check Johnson from VC out. I saw a few WCAL games online but never saw VC. The kid from Napa is a big boy but I would put Flower right up there with him. I also could see flower playing football at Cal if he wanted to go that route. Actually I hope he plays football. Cal surely needs all the talent they can get.

Yeah, those CC guys were another level. They kinda put things into perspective regarding what elite looks like.

The young man has a small media empire in the works. The HS site is only one of them. Kid covers pro and college too! But yeah, the Chronicle has a few more resources at their disposal.

Slick- McKinley is a guy typical of elite athletes. He is so smooth in his gait and doesn't even look like he's running hard- while he runs away from you. I watched the state open game again yesterday and he flat tracked down Custer from a great distance to prevent a touchdown. It showed the difference between good speed and elite speed. Oh, he also is a 4.0 student!!

I just watched his highlights and it was ugly. I feel bad for a few DB's in the video. CC spread attack coupled with their running ability forced allot of one on one coverage with little safety help. They would simply throw him the ball, he would run past the corner, and out run the defense. Like you say it looks like he's jogging while he's pulling away.

Good to hear about the 4.0. Honestly I didn't think they actually went to school down there. I thought they flew the guys in for games like Jefferson from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I've watched a lot of football and I can't recall a more impressive player than Tyler Petite from Campo. 6"5 240 and runs like a deer. There is no doubt in my mind he's a future NFL player. If he starts as a true fresh at USC I wouldn't be surprised. Flower could easily play at PAC 12 level but most likely will end up a pro baseball player. Hard to argue that route.

Larry- I still want to see him hit against great pitching but he is what they look like. Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up on the mound. Big arm and good size.

Agree NCSF they both have the gift of mercury. McKinley is top track speed straight ahead. Antoine is has shakes and can cut on a dime. In and out special.

Sic- I'm hoping Custer can develop that 5th gear this year. I think another year of work can help develop that. It will take him to another level. Question- Do they have some good linemen coming back or coming up from JV's? I can only think of Tagaloa and Wiley.

Leyman played outstanding in the game vs CC at guard- he spelled Wiley so Damon could play more defense. He will likely be a starter and contribute heavily.

Beheil has a good shot to start at center. He is more of the classic DLS center (190 lbs) than the monster Mederios was. There are plenty of JV's coming up that will fill in the 3 open spots. Wallunas and Wardy will be in the mix. 2015 OL will be more similar, size wise, with the 2010 version.

Of course, Asiasi at TE is great. Varnesh must be the leading candidate at the second TE spot.

Good info, thanks. Mason was a good catcher growing up. Sounds like they will be in good shape. Wiley, Tagaloa, and Asiasi on one side is impressive in short yardage situations.

I know of two 8th graders coming in that have the potential to be great as far as lineman go, size and quickness. The buy in is key, like most experienced bloggers on here that have followed DLS from the begining it doesn't matter who you are, the brotherhood is bigger. I've learned this quickly.

Good stuff. My bet is they buy in and enjoy a lot of success with the Spartans. Have they already been accepted? When does the application process take place for DLS? If they don't get in, where might they end up?
