In the history of the SJS there has only been 1 Team to ever win 4 Straight Section Ships in D1 D2 or D3. Sheldon Huskies 2010-13

Congrats to MC on Joining Gerald Madkins led Merced 1985-89 and Dakarai Allen led Sheldon 2010-13 as only D1 schools to ever make 4 straight championship games .
Sheldon went to 10 of 12 Ships from 2010-22 including 5 in a row from 2017-22.
Modesto has been to 7 of the last 9 finals

MC started at D5,D4,D3,D1 and in those years we won more Section Championships than any other Team in California let alone the Sac-Joaquin Section, by the way the most of all time! Sheldon was good and showed this year they have potential. Make no mistake who #1 is in Sac-Joaquin Boys Basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please Don’t gloat over Playing D5, D4,D3 ships , beating the likes of (with no disrespect) Victory Christian , Argonaut , Colfax, Ripon , Sierra , Fairfield while fielding teams loaded with D1 college athletes and NBA players. That’s comical at best..

I don’t know why it burns you up for me to post factual info . You couldn’t wait to post MC #10 on open thread.
That’s nice you’ve been 10 times and 4 in a row with one 1x champ

Meanwhile by the way Sheldon has been to 7 opens including 6 in a row with 5 championship appearances and 2 Ships with a co-ship in covid year with O’dowd.

Nice take...how many NorCal Championships for Sheldon and MC
How many State Titles

Last I remember Sheldon went to a State Final which turned into a blowout "dunkathon" from Sierra Canyon (?)

Nor Cal has not fared well in the top CIF divisions in basketball. Only team to win Open was BOD in 2015 (in OT). Closet games in Open were Salesian vs. Harvard-Westlake last year 50-45 and Mater Dei vs. Mitty by the same score in 2013--the first year for the Open division. When the top division was D1, starting in 1981, Nor Cal only won 7 out of 32 state 'ships. Mater Dei and Crenshaw each have more than Nor Cal combined with 8 state 'ships apiece.

I know must of you know, but I didn't realize how lopsided it really is for the top division. The other divisions seem to be a little more balanced at quick glance but still weighted towards So Cal.

Not that much disparity in football. I would confidently say if baseball had a state 'ship there would more of a balance too. The WCAL alone would probably have half of them over the last 30+ years. The early/mid 1980s El Cerrito teams would have had a few, and there have been several great SJS and Fresno teams as well that probably would have been crowned.

Last Year Salesian played really good versus HW 50-45, 3 years ago we took Centennial of Corona with Jared McCain to the wire 59-51. 2023 St. Joesph got clobbered by HW 76-65.
