1. Riordan (6-0)
The Crusaders were off this past week after winning the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament where junior Andrew Hillman was named Tournament MVP. Texas A&M bound Jasir Rencher and UC Irvine signee Nes Emeneke made the all-tournament team. Riordan heads to the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic and opens with O’Dea-Washington.
2. Salesian (8-1)
Salesian beat Vallejo (94-35) and St. Patrick-St. Vincent (74-28) and is now heading to Hawaii for tournament action. Prior to leaving, Salesian beat Dougherty Valley (75-58). Juniors Carlton Perrilliat and Elias Obenyah were all-tournament selections in Gridley.
3. De La Salle (10-0)
There were three convincing wins for the Spartans last week in beating Mountain House (67-35, 18 points from senior David Balogun and 17 points from junior Ibrahim Monawar), La Salle (76-26) and Sacred Heart Cathedral (79-39). In the final two games, Oklahoma bound Alec Blair combined for 38 points. De La Salle will take on Irvington on December 28 and Deer Valley on December 30. It plays Duncanville on January 2 at Hoophall West.
4. Folsom (7-1)
Folsom won its Stan Harms Classic with wins over Foothill-Sacramento (85-23), Ponderosa (87-38) and Woodcreek (84-41). UC Davis bound Chase Rawlins had 20 points against Woodcreek in winning tournament MVP honors. Junior Joven Dulay and senior LJ Bridges made the all-tournament team. The Bulldogs are off to Palm Springs where they will be in the Desert Holiday Classic.
5. Lincoln-Stockton (6-1)
Lincoln won the Riley Christiansen Memorial Classic at Clayton Valley by beating Liberty (86-65, 20 points from Weber State bound Anthony Moore and 15 points and 10 assists from senior Donez Lindsey), Chaparral (68-54, 21 points from Moore and 16 points from junior Jagger Merolla) and the host Eagles (49-47, 17 points from senior Isaiah Davis as the Trojans outscored them 17-12 in the fourth). The Trojans are in the American Division of the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic and will take on St. Ignatius in the opener.
6. San Ramon Valley (5-4)
Following back-to-back titles in the Gold Division at The Classic and Damien, the Wolves are now in the top Platinum Division and is joined by Destiny Christian as the only NorCal teams in that bracket. Three of the Wolves’ four losses are by seven points or less.
7. St. Ignatius (5-1)
All five of the St. Ignatius’ wins have been by at least 15 points with its lone loss coming to San Ramon Valley (67-60). They will play in the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic post-Christmas with an opening game against Lincoln-Stockton and a potential second game against Rocklin.
8. Oakland Tech (6-2)
Junior Brandon Woodards had 21 points in an 85-55 win over Pittsburg. On the year, senior Ardarius Grayson is averaging 21 points per game. Post-Christmas, Oakland Tech will take part in the San Leandro Holiday Tournament.
9. Moreau Catholic (6-2)
Following an undefeated trip to Hawaii, Moreau Catholic came back to beat Logan (76-48, Pacific bound Kellen Hampton had 20 points and senior Dominic Walker had 19 points) and Amador Valley (55-39, senior Cole Loud had 17 points and Hampton had 13 points). The Mariners are off until a January 4 date with San Joaquin Memorial.
10. Modesto Christian (4-3)
After dropping its opener at the Tarkanian Classic to Boulder Creek (69-62), Modesto Christian won three straight over American Fork (60-53, Long Beach State bound Gavin Sykes had 21 points), Pasadena (62-44, Sykes and sophomore Elijah Payne each had 17 points) and Buchtel (58-57, Sykes had 19 points, sophomore Trevor Dickson had 16 points and Stanford junior commit Myles Jones had 15 points). Next up, the Crusaders will host its Holiday Hoops Classic.
11. Dublin (11-0)
Dublin beat Lathrop (98-43, junior Cameron Anderson had 18 points), Heritage (84-62, junior Jaiden Jones had 20 points and Anderson had 16 points) and Foothill-Pleasanton (59-35, Anderson had 17 points in earning tournament MVP) to win its Don Nelson Classic. The Gaels travel South to play in The Classic at Damien starting on December 26 against Etiwanda.
12. Inderkum (6-0)
The Tigers are undefeated, but have won their last four games by six points or less. Inderkum will compete in the upcoming Classic at Damien and opens with Mission Bay.
13. Destiny Christian (4-2)
Destiny Christian will take part in the Platinum Division of The Classic at Damien, where it opens with Redondo Union (handed Folsom its only loss). Destiny Christian’s two losses have come to Dublin and San Ramon Valley by a combined five points.
14. Dougherty Valley (7-3)
Dougherty Valley took a surprising 53-49 loss to Valley Christian (12 points from senior Kenny Cloud), but bounced back to beat San Leandro (76-51). On Monday, the Wildcats fell to Salesian (75-58). Dougherty Valley will be at the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic.
15. Rocklin (8-2)
Playing local competition, Rocklin beat West Park (83-52) and Twelve Bridges (64-46). The Thunder will take on La Jolla Country Day on December 26 to start the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic.
16. Clayton Valley Charter (6-3)
The Eagles are without Utah State bound guard Elijah Perryman, who is out with a foot injury. Still, they reached the finals of their tournament with wins over Berkeley (42-29, senior Jaden McClane had eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks) and Cardinal Newman (52-43, 18 points from sophomore Zion Grissom) before falling to Lincoln-Stockton (49-47 despite 17 points from Grissom). Clayton Valley Charter will play in the Desert Holiday Classic.
17. Campolindo (7-0)
Campolindo got 13 points apiece from senior Ren Marchetti and senior Gavin Rendle in a 67-52 win over Piedmont. The Cougars are staying local to end the calendar year by playing in the Don Bambauer Classic at Marin Catholic.
18. Monterey Trail (6-2)
Monterey Trail returns to action on December 26 against Mount Si at the Desert Holiday Classic. Monterey Trail has losses to Clovis West and San Joaquin Memorial, but has wins over Woodcreek, Lodi and Mitty.
19. Woodcreek (12-2)
Senior Will Dennie had 26 points in a 69-53 win over Del Oro. At the Stan Harms Classic at Folsom, Woodcreek beat El Dorado (70-49, 17 points from senior Chase Yukawa) and Lodi (66-56, 26 points from Yukawa). The Timberwolves lost to Folsom 84-41 in the finale with junior Max VanLaningham scoring a team best 12 points. They are off until after New Year’s.
20. Franklin-Elk Grove (9-1)
Franklin got a second win over Pleasant Valley (77-54) on December 17 and then beat Granite Bay (85-60) on December 19. The Wildcats will be the fourth Top 20 team to head to the Desert Holiday Classic.
