Elite skills in reading late changes in coverage and anticipation per Greg Costello NFL films. Mobile and great in pocket and adequate arm strength that has gotten stronger. He was a steal in the draft. Early to tell if he will be elite long term but his start is elite. He’s a very good QB and more than a system QB. Hes better than the players he replaced_ Garappolo is a system QB and Lance is a project. Niner backup Darnold is a talented but he is even somewhat of a project QB that could develop into very good QB under Shanahan. The experts were wrong on Purdy as far as his draft position since he shows a lot more than he did on his college tape and has the intangibles. If he stays healthy, he could be special. His teammates seem to think he is special. He has made them better and vice versa. He’s also outperforming all the top picks in his class and having an MVP level season so far this late in the season. That isn’t being a system QB. All QBs benefit from the system they are in.
