Excuse me. I need some help here. Just happened to watch CN vs. Notre Dame (Belmont) on Saturday. Good heavens, how does CN lose? Not that NDB is special. They aren't. But CN appears to be loaded with talent. They trotted out a starting lineup featuring a pair of strong posts, 6-1 and 6-3, and three very good guards. Off the bench, well, how about a 6-4 post and more good guards. Geez, CN (the old Ursuline program) looks like the real deal. Unless my radar is defective. Which is entirely possible. Please, some perspective.

Northbayguru is the CN expert but I will chime in my 2 cents. They are frickn loaded and are basically are underclassmen. They lost to an open qualifier Salesian by 2 at the buzzer. Your a talking about a girls team that could compete at any level this year. They played a brutal preseason and lost some close games to powerhouses like Brea Olinda, Oregon City, Berkeley, Salesian, and Eastside College Prep. Otherwise they have been basically perfect running off like 17 or 18 in a row at one point. If they can get by a really good Brookside Christian school from Stockton I think they will head to state. Expect good things for a long time from this program and the coach isn't afraid to play anybody.

8 of the 12 are freshmen or sophomore (5Frosh 3So)

6 of those 8 ( 3f 3s)are in the deep 9 girl rotation.

I personally think they get better when the frosh guards come in.

They only graduate 2 that play.

the 3 bigs go 6'4 1/2 (so) 6'3 (so) and 6'0 (Jr)...

I know of Hawaii, SDSU and Cal poly have all been at CN practices to watch all 3bigs...could be more schools....those are the ones I know for sure.

Had a rough patch early at the WCJ....lost 3 close games that they could have won but weren't ready to....a lot of youngsters and I'm not sure they understood just how hard they needed to play to beat those good teams....since then things have gotten cleaned up.

They have won 20 of 21 since....with the only loss a 57-55 barnburner at Salesian with Salesian getting a putback at the buzzer.

They face an excellent Brookside Christian team on tues....and should have their hands full.

Great analysis Guru. You are going to definetely see some Mid Major programs offering these girls over the next few years and for some of them they are just scratching on surface of there potential. Going to be some exciting times over at Newman in years to come.
