You can make a fairly strong argument that this year's CCS Open cast should be entirely private/parochial schools. The section does not appear to have a truly outstanding public school entry this year, although there are several good ones. In addition, you might argue that the 2020 Open should embrace just six teams, all of them private/parochials, led by Mitty and Pinewood. Again.

does the CCS have it written into the bylaws that they can cut the Open to 6 like the CIF did during its inception?

Question...so you have your top 4 teams (whoever they may be). do you think that teams 5 and 6 are that much better than the top public school teams? Im curious because frankly, I don't know. I guess what I'm saying is that if every team gets a free shot to norcals if they go open, why not let a top public school go if they isn't that much of a difference?

I assume there are six locks:

Mitty, VC, SI from WCAL.
Pinewood, Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep from WBAL.

That leaves two open spots.

I think one of those might go to Lynbrook. 18-3 with wins over Presentation and Sacred Heart Prep.

Is Sacred Heart Prep a lock with the win over Menlo but does have a suspect loss to Marin Catholic and lost to Lynbrook.

You can make a pretty strong argument that CCS Open ought to be all-private/parochial this year. SOS for those units is mighty strong.

I suppose if SHP loses its last two (certainly possible as it's Pinewood and Priory), they'd fall to the bubble. The Lynbrook loss by a bucket in the first game of the year doesn't bother me. Agree that the Marin Catholic loss (by 25) is puzzling.

Hoorah. And props to whomever pegged Sacred Heart Cathedral based on SOS despite the 8-15 record.

Yes, Lynbrook is likely to get torched by Mitty (as would anyone), but they earned their way in, and their star Maison Yee should get some deserved recognition.

Lynbrook's best player is Lydian Li, not Maison Yee. Best of luck to all the teams in the playoffs across Norcal.
