Championship Day at MC Classic

Joe’s scores 10 straightto start the half…. Counting back into the first half, I think it’s a 15-0 run.

Time out, 7:24 to go…. St. Joe’s will take the trophy back to Santa Maria. 70-48.

WOW. With score tied at 51 Sheldon missed a game winner vs St Joes. Then In Overtime Sheldon had a kick out 3 to win and they called a charge on the passer.
Jesuit also beat Branson in OT .

I talked to one of their parents... The meltdown was at Clovis West. This parent said it was due to one senior deciding he had to take all the shots down the stretch and not doing well enough, but I have an idea it was more likely due to lack of depth and gassing out against the CW pressure. I do remember watching the game online and thinking they had it in the bag... Oops, no they didn't...

It stuns me that a prep school hasn’t scooped up Stojakovic yet. Guy is everything you could possibly want in a player and his dad being Peja doesn’t hurt.

Right now IMO he’s the top player in Norcal, just a tad ahead of Phillips at MC.

his stock has risen dramatically, he plays for compton magic. if Jesuit plays a Monster schedule what can a prep school offer him that jesuit cant?

if my memory serves correct (which is a 50/50 proposition these days), someone posted a guaranty that Stojokovic wouldn’t play for Jesuit this season. I responded that his dad isn’t like the rest of us, and I’d be surprised if he left the school. While the competition of a prep school could certainly be a positive, there are many other life advantages that Jesuit offers over these basketball factories….errr…Prep Schools, especially to a kid and family who aren’t swayed by money or the BS politics of the Prep School world.

He is not a follower, he and his family will do things the way they want to do them, not the way so many of us think they ‘should’ do them.

Thats my $.02

Let’s see in the senior class of California we have top 75 national players all at regular high schools.
Dusty Stromer-gonzaga
Jared McCain-duke
Andrej- anywhere he wants
Mikey Williams- anywhere he wants
Devin Williams- anywhere he wants

I guess Campo Final game of the Night wasnt an important announcement? I would loved to get your play by play for our game.
I still don't know the result of that game. Reporting from other gyms was spotty at best; I was lucky to get the result I got.

I didn't even bring my keyboard for "semi-play-by-play" that I do, because I knew that I would have almost zero player names to use... No program, and even MaxPreps would be little help, because a lot of uniform numbers don't match what they wear in the summer... Some do, but notttttttttt many.

Anyway... Some general takeaways from the event...

1) Looks like the EBAL should be the dominant NCS league in 2023, after relinquishing that honor to the DFAL for one season... The DFAL will still be strong, but likely not quite like they were last year.

2) Surprise teams: Northgate, who graduated a ton, but seems to have found a good bunch of guys to step in. Jesuit, who were only 14-14 last year, should be wayyy batter than that in 2023.

3) Overall, the NorCal talent pool looks pretty darned good!

Agree 100%. Peja kid is just fine at Jesuit. The guard from Oakmont who transferred to Jesuit will be a nice improvement for marauders also.

I think it really helps Jesuit that they added that one kid Streak reported the other day. The kid they added isn’t a superstar but could serve to take some of the potential attention paid to Stojakovic

Mr big….gotta hand it to you. Spot on with your observation. A prep school could only offer a higher level of competition if that is the direction he wanted to head in. Jesuit is playing in Arizona this weekend and that will be a great test.

Kiddman wanna split a hotel room? Lol

Actually a lot of really good matchups in Arizona this weekend including an opening round matchup of Jesuit and Stojakovic versus San Ysidro and Mikey Williams.

Cole Epperson and Reid Jones should be really key for Jesuit.
