I figure I may as well start the thread and get all NCP predictions and takes on all the games....

OPEN: Chaminade vs. Miramonte

I will take MM....

D1: Brea Olinda vs. St. Francis

Brea Olinda

D2: Cajon vs. Elk Grove

Cajon

D3: Lakeside vs. SHC

SHC

D4: Antelope Valley vs. CN

CN

D5: Village Christian vs. Eastside College Prep

Eastside

4-2 North Girls as they get it done at Sleep Train.

I agree on most but i will take St. Francis over Brea Olinda.

Open MM will win by 15 over Chaminade
D1 St. Francis by 10 over Brea Olinda
D2 Cajon by 7 over Elk Grove
D3 SHC by 20 over Lakeside
D4 CN by 30 over Antelope Valley
D5 ESCP by 10 over Village Christian

Most of the Great teams from D2 and D4 played in the open in the north and south. Great example Brookside vs Sierra Canyon last year was the D4 state game and dont forget about D4 Salesian beat D3 BOD in the open.

Good luck to all the Norcal teams !!!!!!!!!

Can't add much to this thread without more info on the SoCal teams, but it looks to have set up well for NorCal this year.

I think it will be a NorCal sweep. I hope it is, then we'll see what fascinating ways CIF will change the playoff structure for next year. Then again, changes are usually made based on the boys side, so maybe no one will notice.

I've seen Brea and Chaminade, but I haven't seen St. Francis.

Brea is very young, but their best player is a senior point guard who's going to UCLA, so they have some leadership.

Chaminade and Miramonte will be a very interesting game. It's hard to press a team with two tall players who are very good and can throw over the trap, and it's hard to match up with them in man. They have several kids who shoot threes so a zone might be tough as well.

According to the MaxPrep's algorithm, they've played the toughest schedule in the country -- and if you look at the SoCal teams they've played, it's pretty impressive.

I think, as in many of these games at this point in the season, it will come down to who shoots better, and Miramonte's one game at Sleep Train might give them a little bit of an edge in that regard.

Clay do you have MM third in the nation already this week before the final...also if they beat Nade
are they still behind Dallas...also you think Nade has had the best schedule....I don't think so....
I still think Riverdale Baptist has/had the argument for the best schedule in the country
especially after next week Dick's Tournament.

The Sleep Train advantage could well seep into a couple of other final games as well. Brea vs. St. Francis of Sacto comes to mind immediately.

Miramonte will stay six this week, but if they beat Chaminade they'll go to two. If Chaminade wins, it will be a tough call, but I agree that Riverdale Baptist has played a tougher schedule, at least in terms of top teams played. I think Chaminade's "average" opponent might have been a little stronger, because of a lot of teams in the DMV won't play Riverdale Baptist, but Riverdale played more ranked teams, and beat a lot of them.

Riverdale, though, won't see St. Francis of Georgia at its best next week, because the 6-3 post for St. Francis is out with an injury. I would be surprised if Riverdale doesn't win that.

Clay
Colorado State is getting a steal with Tia Hayes she runs the team very well. Have anybody seen St. Francis without she they just another team. She is calm and collect with all pressure. She throw dimes from half court and can finish with the best. She averages almost a triple double all year that she got to play. She also a very physical player. She is a type of play that would do well in the ACC. Like is said Colorado State got a steal.

hey respect..

Your girl AMAC has to be pretty fired up about UW making it to the sweet 16 of the girls.

She's stepping into an up and coming program it looks like:D
I'm glad for her. She was always one of my favorites!! A great kid.

it should be fun following her career!!

Northway

It going to be nice to watch McDonald playing for UW and don't forget get about GIGI Gracie that didn't play high but looking very well.
Good luck in the State game but I don't think your going to need it!!!! The other thing is welcome to the open next year because the open might have 4 teams from the Norcal in the open won't that be something.

3-0 on day one!!! Shooting for a perfect prediction score on Saturday!!:p

Congratulations to all the teams who have had a good measure of success this season. I want to send out well wishes to Miramonte. Hopefully they play a good game to help keep the Open title up north for a few more years. Not to mention to cap off a fabulous undefeated season. Chaminade vs Miramonte should be a good game.

5-1 on my predictions! Not bad.

MM put up a good fight but couldn't quite get me to 6-0.

:D

woke up with a headache, since I started drinking and passed out after the game. it's a stretch to call an 80-71 game a defensive battle, but I thought C's defense, out of the starting blocks, was decisive. they were quicker, longer, an more aggressive than any team MM had faced, and it took a while for MM passers, dribblers, and shooters to get the message, by which time they were in a hole resembling a grave. no way to prepare, other than to play SMS, and MM might not have survived the preview.

high score because two up-tempo offensive teams. I'll bet the kids were gassed at the final whistle. both teams left it all on the court, fun to watch.

In the end, would it be unfair to state that Miramonte's full-court pressure actually wound up helping Chaminade's athletes? Of course, that's what MM did all season long to any and all opponents. But that appeared to be a dicey approach vs. a team as talented, athletic and quick as Chaminade, clearly more gifted than MM.

unfair only because MM mostly didn't press--a few looks as changeup, and at the end as desperation. they seemed to understand that you press the wrong folks, your weapon gets turned against you. early in this thread, Clay mentioned that C had weapons to punish the press.

player-to-player seemed the best of bad options, but MM lacked the experience of it as a big part of the program. it takes a lot of time to develop skills and instincts to make it work as a team, including getting burned and learning by your mistakes. I think MM was better able to contain C when they went to their zone but, well, 80 pts…

I'd watch it again to sharpen my sense of what happened, but then I'd have to get drunk and black out again.

but seriously, MM did well to recover and pull even after 3Q. I think it took a lot of energy and effort, and with a short bench, the tanks were empty. Odom, quoted in CC Times: "I'm still tired. Everything was just tired about this game. I can't even speak right now. I don't have anything left." gotta admire that. bet the losers felt the same way.
