Pretty even game.

Clovis has led the entire 1st half but never by more than 6.

Clovis gets to the paint and despite being undersized just doesnt miss.

31-28 Clovis half

Neither team in foul trouble. Well reffed game so far.

What was the Clovis foul? On a shot?
In OT both teams were in the bonus.

CN up 1...

On each teams last possession both got the foul calls and both teams made their FTs.

Incredible atmosphere..the Clovis crowd brought it.

This is one of those games were neither team lost it. Both teams kept making plays/shots coming down the stretch as the lead kept changing hands and it just happened that CN had the last possession and converted.

It's a damn shame the game wasn't televised.

Its was a GREAT game.

It was streamed on HudlTV. Clovis was up 1 with 3 seconds and committed a loose ball foul on a full court heave. Queen buried both.

Watched it free on Hudl

The ball was loose and a foul was committed by Clovis. Call it whatever kind of foul you want!
It's just a common foul. Ball being loose has no bearing.
However I see you said clovis had the ball and they committed a foul and queen made the free throws...

If described as you did, there should not have been free throws. Moreau vs cardinal Newman again

No it was CNs ball when Queen was fouled.

Clovis had just made 2 FTs and CN was taking the ball out when the pass was made to Queen who was subsequently fouled.

Look..I didn't care for either foul calls on both Clovis and CN the last 2 possessions. IMO both were no calls. But either both needed to be called or neither. I give credit to both Sin and Queen in a season ending pressure spot stepping up to the line and making both FTs.

If you give high school officials a chance to make a call to determine the outcome of a game, then you simply don't know what might happen.

"Don't foul" is the only message in those kinds of situation -- or better yet, "Don't be close enough to let the ref call a foul."

Got a look at the tape of the game ...

The first foul in the last few seconds, on CN, was clearly a foul. The defender bumped the dribbler off line as she attacked the basket and took away her angle on the shot. Had to be called.

The last one was unclear. It was like a pass interference call, opposite the camera, but the ref was two feet away. It was a long pass down the right sideline from the baseline, and the foul was called at about the free-throw line extended. If the foul isn't called, the ball would have gone out of bounds because Valor Queen didn't catch it cleanly. So the question is whether the contact caused Queen to mishandle the ball or whether the contact was incidental.

It was almost impossible to judge from the camera angle, but again, the ref was in perfect position, and if anyone could see whether the contact impeded Queen's ability to catch the ball, it was him.

It seems like there have been a lot of last-second fouls lately, and two of them involved Cardinal Newman. On the boys' side, it cost them; on the girls' side, it saved them. The moral of the story, though, is that you shouldn't give high school refs a chance to blow the whistle and decide the game. Don't foul, and don't come close to fouling. In this case, had Queen caught the ball and driven to the hoop, it would have been a very tough shot. Tougher than making two free throws with the game on the line? Hard to say.
